I know it all too well.

>Did an inverter blown a capacitor on your motherboard?
This might have happened, I used an inverter with my T420 when I went of a road trip a few months ago. I'm pretty sure it started to fuck up and not boot after that too. Could I solder on a new one if I buy some decent tools?
about to buy a x220 off of amazon for $300 to use as a programming machine.
is it worth it to install a ssd? i dont know if i want to install a msata along with the harddrive or just get rid of the hard drive all together
Ok guys, tell me how many Thinkpads you own. List them and what you use them for.
>T42 bought years ago it's like an old friend
>x61 is my everyday machine
Getting an itch to add to the collection.
X200s, X61t, X41t, R60, R32, R40, T40, Z61p, 390E, 560X, 570E, 701c, 600E, 355Cs, iSeries 2621, A31, PC 110.
Not encountering much anymore, probably gonna sell the PC110 because screen rot has ruined it.
T23 - primary machine used for internet browsing, email, IRC, music, videos, documents, etc.
600E - used for schoolwork many years ago, now just sits in a closet as a backup in case my T23 were to fail suddenly
HEY TPG PLEASE RESPOND QUICKLY
HOW MUCH SHOULD I BID MAX ON THE W700DS?
THERES ONLY LIKE 5MINUTES LEFT
Recently got an x200s. I supposedly got it for work, but I need to buy a carrying case for it. Guess I'll be using it for note-taking in trainings too, that keyboard's really sweet.
lol when is that thing going to die, or is it an old photo?
I meant if the inverter for the screen had made an error, blowing a capacitor on a motherboard.
>shit happens when I mobo'd swap a W500 onto a 4:3 screen/chassic
But in the past, I did use some of those cigarrete lighter plugs by Lenovo, but I wasn't sure if that killed my ThinkPad's battery.
Photo of the dying PC110, we need gore itt
Paid 1145 for one in December 2013, still chiming strong, I've yet to redo the thermal paste.
Nice buy, just don't get buyers remorse over the small keyboard flex :)
download it, get rufus to do a bootable usb
when it boots, select it, it'll do cries of death, do not turn it off despite its scaryness
It takes about 6 minutes I think to flash, it'll keep on doing the boot sequence too, so when you see the ThinkPad splash screen, remove that USB!
When it screams, do the fap ritual.
I think you can get a legitamate quadcore i7 on the T510, rather then some core2duo, I don't think the QX9300 is considered a quad.
16:9 ratio instead of 16:10, bezels are disgusting tho.
Better GPU because its newer.
>tfw doing so many ThinkPad repairs landed me an interview at an E-Waste company
I had an ad out on craigslist and the guy wants me to come by
Hopefully I buy a few machines with a discount
>W510 i use it for everything other than gaymen
Do you mean you use your W510 for everything but you do not play video games or you use your W510 for everything other than gaming, for which you use another computer? If it's the latter why would you not just use the other computer for everything and opt for a smaller Thinkpad with better battery life instead?
>lol when is that thing going to die, or is it an old photo?
That photo is a few months old, I think. It's still working and it's still my primary computer. Running a bit low on HDD space though.
I have a, and im sorry, an alienware i got gifted that i use for gaming, but i wouldnt bring it with me to uni so i use my chinkpad for programming and watching tv
i got the w510 because the dedicated gpu is good for hash cracking
Looking to trade my Surface Pro for an X220 Tablet?
What's the cheapest and most effective way of achieving this?
and thinkin of selling this Asus monitor and just picking up another one of these Dells
tfw Dell Precision M6600 for $580AUD
did I do good /g/?
Quadro 3000m 2gb GDDR5 (while OCed runs muh vidya amazingly, runs under 70c with 1.6x default core clock, and OCed memory clock.
17.3" 1920x1080 display (TN, but viewing angles are nearly as good as IPS on this one, colours and brightness are great too)
Screen OCs fine up to 102hz, but run it at 100hz.
Not necessarily shit, but rather wonky. Wacom QC issues general
You got a good machine for a good price. But as above >gaems
Especially since the W701 (non ds) is still above that bracket
Are there stores in EU that sell Thinkpad components?
I am looking to replace the panel in my X201 with HV121WX4-120.
Also I heard that removing the digitizer is difficult. How do you actually remove it?
I feel kinda like unrelated.
R40- used as main laptop from 2006 to 2010,Dead battery and dead bios battery.
T420-still enroute from germany to be main pc, although i do have a desktop for more power needing tasks.
I've got 2 options, the X200 or the X201.
Which one is the best option for me?
Mainly for programming on the go and for pentesting at work, so some CPU usage, not that much I'd say.
Also, there's one with a german keyboard, but I'm Portuguese. QWERTZ isn't my deal but I can easily change the layout. It's a bit cheaper.
Not looking to spend that much
I'm having issues with the video card in my t510. In Mint, I get screen freezes and I'm forced to switch to tty1 and back to fix it.
Anyone else have this issue? Any ways to fix it? One time I started an x session independently and monitored it, it's giving segfaults when it happens.
>2 x t60p, bummed from a set of two dozen that were used in police cars for a client of my company
Used one with a fresh eBay battery and puppy linux as a thin client for my wangblows terminal server for years. The other one has beefier specs, and I've installed edubuntu and my daughter uses it for games and such.
>t520, on eBay last fall
everyday use machine. Love it.
Quadro 3100M. It came with Windows but I only had it on there for a day. Looks like I may have to slap an 80GB drive in and install Windows for fault isolation. I hope it's software -- I got this baby for a steal, hate to have it shit on me.
Just bought a X220 under the impression that it had a IPS screen. I was wrong.. I paid £217 with free shipping. Both corners of the monitors are cracked and the space bar is super sticky. Don't know if its worth it to send it back or repair it and replace the screen and bezels.
I've never owned a thinkpad before and I don't really want to give it up. Im currently typing this sentance on it and t feels wonderful.
I just don't know waht to do ;___;
Thinking about buying a t60, what would be the difference between the intel graphics and the ati graphics the motherboard is equipped with? I know that libreboot would not work with the ati, but other than that? The processor is a core2duo clocked at 1.83Ghz and only has one gig of ram.
Ok /tpg/ i know some of the Latitude/Precision series fans also lurk here.
In case my T420 gets fucked over by customs again, should i try to get a Precision M4600?
>One year of warranty
it's 500$ in total, which is pretty darn cheap. Hell i had to pay almost 400$ to buy and ship the T420 over here, and it came with waaaay worse specs.
