Can somebody please tell me why this thing gets so much praise?
I got one a few weeks ago because of /g/ and it's absolute shit. It's slow and unresponsive as soon as you get up to around 32GB.
Honestly /g/, do not buy this thing.
Sansa Clip+ is nice, but isn't perfect. That said, it's still probably your best bang for its buck
>Small form-factor and clips to your waist, great to take along when exercising
>With or without Rockbox, it plays just about everything
>With Rockbox, it's extra snappy
>Great for audiobook and podcast listeners
>Poor battery life, needs to be charged daily with heavy usage
>Poor physical integrity. I've owned two Sansa Clip+'s and on both of them the back clip snapped off and the volume buttons have caved in. On the Clip+ I use today, I've used velcro to reattach the clip and I set up the quickscreen in Rockbox to adjust volume.
because it's so inexpensive
i loved mine but lost the cord to it, i've got 50 micro-usb cables i don't need but not a single mini-usb cable. why the hell did they use such an obscure connection?
have it, rockboxed it, and works
im using external storage (64 gb, nearly full)
but i'd like a touchscreen like ipod so i can easily navigate through the albums and stuff but i just use a-z index search
>something newer is better
How come I hear about this just now? Does anyone have any experience with installing it on a Sansa Clip Zip? I read their wiki, and they say that some people get some noice from the CPU in their headphones. How bad is it?
How is the battery life compared to the stock firmware?
What file system does it run? I've wanted to put git annex on the thing to simplify moving files to it, but it needs symlinks, so VFAT is a no go. Can I have it use ext3?
>carrying around 32gb of music
You fucking dumb children.
This is why you should all be fucking euthanized. You are absolutely TOO FUCKING STUPID TO LIVE.
You realize that you can remove and replace music at will on it, right? RIGHT?
Goddamn, no wonder we don't have nice things any more. You fucking idiots have encouraged companies to stop making good things and make only garbage that you think is good when it's not.
Fuck off, children. Fuck the HELL off.
>My phone doesn't have a headphone jack and only plays Qualcomm QCP audio files.
What kind of dogshit phone do you have?
And how is at all efficient spending 60 bucks on a music device when you can add just a little more and have a phone and media device.
as long as you aren't using a garbage phone that's 4 years old with a worn out battery, solely listening to music should last more than 6-7 hours
if you want to pretend that you need to listen more than that continously you could always just turn on flight mode and get a fuckton of more time
>hurr im a luddite who only likes 700 MB CDs fuk progress why isn't Nixon still president??!?!
>mfw I have 90 GB's of music (V0) on my phone and usually download two or so new albums a day
>no face, too busy listening to my 8 hours of field recordings of number stations I have on my phone to bother
To save my phone's battery(plus my phone is a piece of shit and doesnt have a microsd slot).
>Do you people really carry this and your phone around?
Do you realize how fucking small these are?
The x1 costs more than twice what the clip+ does with a card, is much larger, and has no internal storage.
The clip+ is cheap, can play a decent array of files, drives larger headphones decently, has a mic and fm tuner and can hold a decent amount of data.
FLAC works on the stock firmware
The clip+ actually preforms pretty well for what it is-better than most phones pretty easily, see NwAvGuy's (who designed the O2) testing.
Heck I've seen comparisons where it fared alright compared to the x1.
>mfw the 64g sony walkman
>I have three 128g micro SD cards filled with music
I need help.
No, the clip supports flac and the zip does AAC
Honestly curious if you actually have Orbis music and where you got it
>no game boy emulator
This one is completely a problem and I cant see how Sandisk would let it slide
if i play music on my phone in addition to browsing the web, like when im at school, it dies in 2 hours.
with muh clip i set my phone to battery saver mode and i can listen to music off my clip and dick around on my phone for 4+ hours
You are an idiot. Don't ever fucking buy something because some people say so, dipshit. Do your own fucking research and figure out whether you want it or not.
Fucking consumerist piece of shit. Sage and fuck you.
I bought one of these today, along with a 16 micro SD card because my friend recommended it to me. I haven't gotten it yet, but the screen looks weird. The top 1/3 is permanently yellow, while the bottom 2/3 is permanently blue. It's odd.
Anyway, I'm gonna Rockbox it when I get it, because Gameboy emulator.
Installation is pretty straight-forward and fool-proof. Also, when powering on, hold the "left" button to skip bootloader and get back to original firmware.
I didn't notice any major differences to battery life yet, but dropping songs in seems to work WAY FASTER.
I do not regret "rockboxing".
>caring about FLAC in a mobile setting
>caring this much about music
>basically amish in 2015
>get Spotify you flaming peon
>hurrr I like being forced to resync my device every time I feel the need for a change of pace
>hurr I don't understand that and extra 32gb of storage is trivial matter in a device this size and believe apple when they tell me it's necessary for it to cost me $150
