This is what the new MacBook's motherboard looks like next to a Raspberry Pi. That's right, the MacBook’s motherboard is even smaller than the Raspberry Pi.
RasPi comes with a laptop enclosure and a high-ppi screen and an super-fast SSD? Really? Where do I buy this RasPi?
Also, look at the shit CPU that RasPi comes with... can't even play my BluRay anime rips.
why the fuck would you play rips? that's as stupid as playing FLAC. you wouldn't be able to discern the difference even with a proper setup. the purpose of a RIP or FLAC is that you have the ability to choose various formats to drop down to, it's a utility format not a consumer one. unless you are planning to conversions with a pi your argument is invalid. and if you think thata macbook is a better choice to do such a thing, you're even more deluded. dollar for dollar a pi is far superior in performance from the macbook.
>it cannot play bluray that's encoded
are you fucking stupid? you don't know how codecs work? are you 12? the answer to these are the same btw.
apple shills are so retarded i swear to god.
whats wrong you fuccboi? unable to convert people who got passed high school to your religion of spending more money than what's actually needed? what a shame. maybe tommorow.
>managing your assets properly like an adult
>actually realizing that price/performance outweighs total performance in the case of consumer electronics
>lol he's so poor he'll never know my joy of shitposting on 4chan about being a macfag, while trying to hide my inferiority complex.
yeah you really rekt me there pal. don't you have a $80.00 apple certified usb cable to purchase?
ah here it is, the so called "i have no arugment, so i'll resort to shitposts" strategy. well established with newshits.
tell me, were you expecting nobody to call you out on your bullshit? maybe you'd get away with this on /b/, but you're out of luck here. get the fuck out already.
>why the fuck would you play rips?
I bet you're a Linux user, you people have "why the fuck would you..." hardwired as a response.
>dollar for dollar a pi is far superior in performance from the macbook.
"Well if they made a macbook for $25 it would not be as fast as an Raspi!!" You're mentally ill.
$120 and it has more ports
you have no valid reason and you're just whining like a little faggot. therés nothing you can't do on a pi but could do on a macbook, where it's needed in a portable context. you're so full of shit it hurts to read your post, you dumb sack of shit. you need 16gb of ram to watch rips while sitting at starbucks right? legit applications.
>it's a 'real' computer
>it has 'real' computer stuff, like a lid hinge and..and...muh dependence on prebuilt electronics ;-;
superluminous kek. MRIs don't have macbook mainframes they aren't real computers either, they're just big ol magnets/
The contrasting antennae certainly aren't doing the design any favours. I'd much rather prefer internal antennae.
>therés nothing you can't do on a pi but could do on a macbook
For starters, there is running x86 software.
Second, the Core M is orders of magnitude faster than the shit ARM CPU the Pi uses. Core M CPUs are as fast as mobile Core i3/i5 of just a few generations ago, and can confortably run the Adobe CS suite, CAD modelers and even make decent renderings in V-Ray or something similar in less than an hour. The Pi don't even have this software available to use, and even f it had, it wouldn't be able to run them due to lack of performance.
Of course, Windows PCs that are much cheaper than the MacBook can also do that. But saying a Pi can do everything that MacBook can do is just hilarious ignorance.
I've worked a day in my life, AND i'm not retarded with my money.
what's it like living off daddy fatsack's treat?
Those fucking meanders on the Pi. LMAO. Someone should take a course in proper PCB layout instead of trying to solve problems that shouldn't exist in the first place with all that board real-estate wasted on gay logos.
Also: OP is not a fair comparison.
The Mac board is full-fledged SMD while the Pi has a shitload of through-hole components. In all honesty, if they REALLY wanted, they could cut the size of the board by 4/5 or more. Just look at those fucking massive 0805 components...
And more.. the Mac board probably has in the order or 20 layers PCB so signal paths and ground/vcc planes are easily routed while the Pi has what.. maybe 6 layers tops.
>being this mad
Why don't you bring some arguments instead? I'll start: The RPi has USB, ethernet, power connector, sd slot and GPIOs, and even yet it's close to the size of that apple shit.
now lets look at the size to cost
pi: 4793.6mm @ $35 = $0.007 per mm
crapple: 4451.604 @ $1299 = $0.291 per mm
the numbers don't lie, crapple is a ripoff we're looking at an explosive profit markup of 41.5x!
Wait... my argument in:
was that it's not a fair comparison because of all the not-SMD stuff on the Pi...
You then claimed I have no arguments and started sperging out calling me a retard...
Firs they are about the same size, the apple mobo is just thinner and longer. Second the Pi is a full PC whereas the apple mobo is just a mobo with no ports on it.
Also the Pi is a PC for less than 50$, you shouldn't compare it to a netbook motherboard made by one of the richest consumer-tech companies on earth.
Are you retards not capable of comparing the density and complexity of the two boards? Might aswell say a point-to-point turret board soviet FM receiver is superior because "hurr its the same size".
>mfw no apple dildos for better pleasure
Obviously, we're just jealous because we are too poor for magic beans.
Of course it's a question of being able to spend money on the product, and not whether the product is worth the money.
Because it has an Apple logo. Every time I see the Apple logo I feel sexual pleasure.
>anti apple shilling
Do you fucks even know what a shill is?
A shill is someone who supports a company or organization and who blends into the populace to make it seem like a portion of the community supports it. They're either being paid to do so or being brainwashed into thinking it's the 'best' thing for others.
You can't shill against a company, that's not how that word works. However, you can certainly shill for a company. In fact, shills are quite popular with terrible/low-quality companies, especially those who don't want to innovate/compete, but still want people to pay a premium for their products.
As an example: Apple.
So much does this cost to produce compared to the Pi? I bet the difference is negligible and the Pi has more ports lel
Apple's overpricing is fucking disgusting, the Pi might not be powerful but it's a hell of a lot more impressive than fucking Apple getting the Chinese to make smaller boards for them for pennies
Check out Aliexpress, there are tons of these. It's a barebones so you need some laptop RAM and a 2.5" drive to get it running.
The CPU is passively cooled by the aluminum case, which is pretty neat
I think it's absolutely lovely they were able to miniaturize everything. Probably saves money, makes it more efficient or some such stuff.
To think that the board could fit comfortably in my wallet, well, i think it's neat.
I have never used this Mac before, so i don't know if it's any good, but knowing Apple, the user experience will probably be similar to other Apple products.
Great. I like this.
so it's not a working device. That sucks. I don't want one anymore.
Why don't they include the parts? I'd pay for it. I just don't want to buy half a thing and spend time and money to get it to run.
I thought you take it out the box, turn it on, connect it to your wireless, and start streaming movies from your windows network.
Fuck buying parts, installing parts, installing windows, etc.
>I would gladly pay 400 instead of 120 for something that works when i take it out the box.
This is what /g/ has become, a bunch of morons who argue about things and refuse to do the most basic things themselves
I'm saying my convenience is more valuable than a relatively small amount of disposable income i have.
Plus ordering RAM and HDD on the internet, means i got two more packages in the mail i got to pay for and chase after, because i am never home or around when the delivery gets here.
>i have more money than you
>mfw i'll be literally 1125 dollars richer than the suckers who buy applegarbage
Front page here, you're pretty dumb.
First, the parts are cheaper separate; your meager disposable income would go farther.
Second, the only think you are avoiding is spending five minutes to plug in a hard drive and stick some RAM in there. So essentially what you're trying to say is that you're too good to spend five minutes doing something to save you money, which would make sense if you were stupidly rich, but you had to go and put you foot in your mouth and mention how little disposable income you have.
Thirdly, stores ship everything in one package these days, get with the time. Newegg, TigerDirect, Amazon, they all do.
If you can't be assed to spend five minutes to save yourself twenty dollars (That's $240 an hour) then you are valuing your convenience far too much. Get over yourself.
you forgot that /g/ is consumer electronics... no actual technology is discussed here other than r8 my desktop, nvidia vs amd and why apple is better than x... oh yeah, and the shitty headphone thread
i switch tabs, save jpegs, load high resolution pages with lots of content, stream HD videos, and use facebook simultaneously. This might seem like something you can do on a pentium 4 but the truth is that back when I used to do this on a P4, I did it, but I did it a lot slower.
Because when you think about it you were always waiting for longer than you wanted to, weren't you? Switching tabs would maybe take 2 seconds. Opening a new file explorer would take 4. And a few seconds here and there all adds up quite quickly to be a few minutes every couple of hours of computer use. It's not fun, trust me.
But you still can get a cheaper, more powerful thing than the new fagbook, or even something that has the same specs. The price of this thing is just too high for what it can actually do, and the one port thing doesn't really help it either.
You can get the UX305 zenbook which is cheaper, thinner, has a 1080p screen(there will be a version with a bigger res, but do you really need more than 1080p on a laptop? ) and ports.
It also comes with adaptive brightness that can't be disabled. And a power port that isn't integrated with data. No thanks, I don't want to plug in 5 cables each time I come home, and unplug 5 cables each time I leave.
Chromebook pixel than.
What? Power, Ethernet, HDMI and 2 USB devices?
Also, I'd rather plug in 5 cabels to my laptop than plug in dongles to use a USB stick or an external display.
>inb4 cloud storage
Enjoy not being able to access your files when you have no network access.
>subscribing to the phone/computer dichotomy
The size of the motherboard doesn't matter. What's more important is the cpu architecture and chipset. The Macbook has an x86_64 intel board, that will blow the ARM based Pi SoC out of the water.
They don't include the parts because then they are expected to pre-install the OS.
This means paying Microsoft retail price for their OS, and then offsetting that charge by adding it to the product price.
Then the price goes up too much, so to reduce it a little they pre-install bloatware and get money from companies for the advertisement.
Nobody except businesses pay retail price for Windows, people get it reduced price for being students or pirate it.
Why the fuck are you complaining about a manufacturer trying to save you some fucking cash?
Sad but true, this is the future designed by apple. And seeing how even here there are many people defending apple for doing it, I'd say that that we're pretty much fucked.
Let's just hope that at least the chinkpads stay the same.
It does come with a case most of the time and can runs on SD cards.
