>>47076616 installing gentoo is fun following the handbook is also fun to bad im such a fucking dickhead i just use windows 7 muh gaymes i bet if I kept using gentoo when I first installed in back when I was like 14-15 I would a linux wiz now I can barely remember any fucking commands.
>>47078123 >Nigga, stick that shit innabox and send it to Koss. Be sure to add the $5 for return shipping. The problem is that I bought them during a trip in the US so sending them would have been quite expensive, and they're twice the price around here.
>>47078123 man I fucked up, I really want some k7xxs, hopefully they bring it back sometime soon. I love the look of the k-s, but I listen to alot of nigger-tier music and I want my lower freq response.
>>47078322 Ah, let me add that the Sennheiser HD 380 Pro headphones are better than the ATH, having owned both. The sound is better, more neutral, they're MUCH more comfortable, and they're cheaper. Seriously, don't buy the ATH-M50 unless you prefer bassy music to accurate music.
IPS monitor - I love it and will probably buy only IPS stuff in the future. Learned a lot of stuff about building a pc and stuff, so my current pc could be /g/s fault. Installed loonix on my laptop and it's completely functional for stuff I use it for.
>>47076581 >mechanical keyboard I do like it though, it is more efficient, I can type for longer with it, and it has media controls.
>Clip+ I've owned sandisk mp3 players since they released the C250, owned two Fuze, three clips, a clip+ and now I just use my phone for music. I also owned two other sandisk mp3 players but I forget their models. I think I still have them all laying around in a box of computer junk.
>Mechanical keyboard It's pretty nice I guess, but at the same time I could easily live without it. My laptop has a chicklet keyboard and I honestly don't think it's that bad. >Intel 2500K Still going strong years later, even with a pretty decent overclock. Purchase of the century. >Sony MDR-V7506 I bought them before I really browsed /g/, but the /g/ infographics helped me find them so I guess it counts. Great headphones. >Beyerdynamic DT880 Another pair of great headphones. >Linux It's fine I guess, but I gain very little from using it and it's more inconvenient in a lot of ways so I gave up on it. >Xperia Z2 Is this a /g/ meme? A lot of people shill it on /g/ but just as many shit on Sony phones. I love it. >IPS Monitor I bought it thanks to /p/, but /g/ helped me pick a good one.
My meme purchases have been pretty good overall, thanks /g/!
I haven't taken to /g/ meme products at all. My laptop's a Latitude. My phone is an old dumphone. My headphone's are shitty 'xtra bass' Sony ones that happened to be on sale. My old membrane keyboard was dying recently and I was considering replacing it with a mechanical one, but the price and the fragile mini-USB connection between the cable and the keyboard kept me from buying and I ended up repairing my old one instead. I was considering getting an F91W, but I don't check the time often and putting it on each they would have been more of a nuisance then checking time on my phone. I do use Debian with Cinnamon for everything but Pspice and occasional gaming, but that's pretty much it.
>K & R C Awesome. I knew C before (Uni and Prata book), but this book gave me new insight into stuff >Fedora Better than Ubuntu that i used before tbh. I started to read a lot about Ganoo + Loonix thanks to /g/ >That plastic digital Casio Nice. >CRT monitor Sold mine circa 2005. Bought one in 2014 and been using it for vintage games and computing. Thanks /g/ 10/10
Thinking about buying mechanical keyboard. Is it comfortable ?
>mechanical keyboard Not too bad. >U2410s Got them cheap, but that fucking AG coating. >Oneplus One Love it. >ThinkPad X220, great but I eventually sold it. >MDR-V6s Great for the $40 I paid. >Linux I actually really, unironically like it as a daily driver. >Logitech G400 Very worth it, but like my previous Logitech mouse, the right mouse button is starting to get stiff.
>>47076581 I think the quality of my life has been slightly improved by /g/'s advice/.
>Replaced old laptop with ThinkPad X200 (Windows 8.1) and T42 (Crunchbang) I can do actual work, and for more than 6 hours at a time without an outlet now. I found a way to make the fan louder so I can irritate an autist who sits across from me in class.
>bought an SSD muh boot time muh battery life muh shock proof
>started wearing a watch Watches are surprisingly useful. I don't run late to stuff as much as before, strangely enough.
>Generally surprised that /g/ memes are actually not so bad >IPS monitor Very happy with it, upgraded from a very old monitor >thinkpad my favorite laptop keyboard by far, just werks >first time building a desktop worked out fine, cable management went well thanks to guts >mechanical keyboard one of my favorite purchases
>Seiko 5 Great watch. >Mechanical keyboard Great keyboard. >Merkur razor I will never shave with anything else ever again. >free mousepad from that one website with referrals or whatever I like it. >Nexus 7 It's okay, I don't own a smartphone so I get a bit of use out of it but other than that I use my laptop for almost everything. >acer c720 chromebook (is this a meme? i dunno) Fast as fuck, fills my mobile interbutts needs for when I don't need a fully-featured computer. >chromecast (also maybe not a meme?) Greatest 30 dollars I've ever spent. My entire family gets loads of use out of it. >Firefox was good, until it wasn't. dropped it once shit started going downhill. >monoprice 8323 Love them, detachable cable is nice for when my cats eat my headphones. >fountain pen Fantastic. >uni kuru toga pencil Pretty good, I'd like to try a rotring though. >swiss army style key holder Modeled one real quick in CAD and then printed it off at my work's 3D printer, not jingling anymore is great.
>F91-w but I am not sure if /g/ or even 4chan did exist back then >Clip+ rockbox I didnt browse /g/ back then >Thinkpad T410 Good keyboard and conversation piece but the screen is 1440*900 TN crap and the fan is pretty loud >Jihad 599 It still on shipping
>>47081394 Not the same guy but I'm typing from a t420 at the moment as well, it's a very nice laptop for the price, (actually the nicest I own if you take anything other than techincal specifications into consideration) the only thing that may bother you is the relatively mediocre quality of the screen, but it's no where near as bad as some people make it out to be. Feel free to ask me any specific questions you have about the laptop.
>>47076581 I basically learned about IPS monitors from /g/ and I'm really fucking glad I got away from TN shit. I'm not enough of a 1337 pr0 g4m3r to think 60FPS/5ms are shit. I'd much rather have the viewing angles and colors.
I also got a Logitech G400 because /g/ was praising it, really great mouse, though I just had to replace its cable.
I guess the home server with HDDs in RAID that I have now is something I wouldn't have without /g/ either, unless I end up poor as fuck I don't think I'll ever go without one again, it's amazingly useful and handy.
Last thing is a mechanical keyboard, it's much more pleasant and after trying it out at my place some friends bought mechanicals too.
>Thinkpad X201 Meh. Horrible screen. Overrated keyboard. >Sansa Clip Pretty good, wish it outputted more power. Love that it takes SD. >DT-880s Pretty great, but nowhere near worth the $200 I got them for >Mech keyboard Terrible, no point at all
>G500 Before I knew about /g/ >Filco TKL A shadow of regret, but it has an utmost feeling of quality that I enjoy. >Sabre USB DAC No regrets. Very good piece of kit. Noiseless, unlike my PC and Laptop. >K7XX little harsh on treble but otherwise hella nice.
Bought without direct influence from /g/: >Clip+ Love it. >PortaPros Breddy gud sound but a bit uncomfortable for long periods >Logitech G502 Perfect mouse. >Mech keyboard Love my blues >HTC One M8 Kinda shit from my experience, but I blame Sprint. I'm never buying a phone from a carrier again. Such horse shit. >Building own PC Did this in 2008, didn't browse /g/ till like several months ago. >Fractal design Define Bought an R2 XL in mid 2014 for this build because I liked the specs and looks, and had decent reviews, was a bit skeptical as I had never heard of Fractal. After buying find out fucking everyone loves it as do I, very good case.
Bought using /g/ as primary source of influence: >Casio F91-W It's basically a /g/ membership card. I literally bought it because it was cheap, I liked how it looks, and /g/ likes it. >Vostok Amphibia /g/ and my dad both turned me on to Russian watches. Though my dad's are all old Komandirskies.
>thinkpad happy >IPS don't really care too much >mechanical keyboard Love it, but fuck linears >linux wish i could use my work's software with it. >clip+ shit was rockin, but i have a smartphone now. >mdr-v6 That thing could sustain a 60mph crash.
>F-91W Turns out it's a lot more useful than I originally anticipated. >Mechinical Keyboard Returned it once I found it it had khail switches, I'll order a proper cherry one later >Thinkpad About to buy two x200's for $200
>>47077563 I also bought the new memeberry pi 2 and am typing this on a t420. it has a different ironic sticker and i have a life.
>>47084496 agreed it's a good quality professional machine for $200--250. easily upgradeable, three tiers of default specs, escape 1366x768 hell, not too big screen, good battery life, runs every unix clone, lots of I/O ports, overhead light, etc.
>>47087952 What model is it? They get pushed by /g/ a lot because of how reliable and rugged they are, how affordable they are used on ebay, anti-macbook aesthetics and functionality, etc, etc. New Thinkpads aren't as good since 2011-2013 or so.
>thinkpad t61 Best laptop I've ever owned. Could use a new screen though. Had to spend a bit of cash to get the memory and hard drive where I wanted it, but $220 to get the best laptop I've ever used vs. $1,000+ I paid before? Easy.
>Sansa Clip+ I kept losing it, and but was in love with it when I could find it...until I discovered I could stream out to HTTP using mpd on my desktop. I imagine it'd be better for me to use that instead when I'm on the road and not using data, but hell.
>681 Evo's They're a little tight on my head, and I've only owned them for a week, but I had gone through like 3 or 4 Siberia v2's. Don't get me wrong, I still actually quite love Siberia v2's...but the inline volume fucker would always come loose and kill the headset.
Still takes getting used to not having a proper mic. Don't want to get one that sits on my desk because noise, and lapel mics aren't that comfortable and in my experience don't have great sound. I'm also fucking not paying $50 for a modmic fuck that.
I built/upgraded my machine and became interested in battlestations. To bad my current BS isnt anywhwre near the /g/ approved standard but on the bright side at least im not a faggot with little dolls in my room so thats good.
