Post your drives and tell a bit how you have purposed them.

A: For Installed stuff
B: Games
C: Operating system
D: Optical drive
E: old seagate drive for porn
F: WD green for general random storage
G: Pictures and some videos
H: Music
I: USB pendrive hidden inside case for gf nudes etc.
J: External shit storage.

Now post yours.
Laptop: Drive 1: Macintosh SSD: all my shit
Server: see pic
NAS: 1 part storage and 1 part time machine
Drive C: OS/Most used applications
Drive D: Everything else

I don't see the point in partitioning a drive into multiple sections just for different file types, that's what folders are for.
OP here, but I haven't partitioned anything.

D: Installed shit
L: Anime/VNs/Other media

Not pictured: another 2TB Drive full of the same stuff as L: but I lent it to a friend
C: Everything (500 GB)
D: Some random 9 GB drive not sure why it's there
E: Where my undetected ex-main 1 TB goes now that it's failed on me. Contains all my lost movies and music.

Oh and there's a 6tb NAS hooked up to this which is where all the torrents and music and other shit I share around the house go

(although it's running Greens or something awfully slow and I can't be bothered to put FreeNAS on it yet)

Probably need to buy that 8TB hard drive from Seagate in the future. Or atleast another 5TB drive. My 5tb drive has a copy of my 3TB drive. But now I need another HDD to back up the extra stuff I added to the 5tb.

What takes up most of my storage is uncompressed blu rays or blu ray remuxs I download.

And C: is my OS drive.

M: More TV, Top Gear and House.

2tb WD HDD
N: More anime
O: Video editing projects, Some doc/image backups
P: Art, all 4chan saves since 2006, books, manga and comics, more movies.
Q: Myster Science Theater 3000 DVD rips, misc DVD rips, more TV.
C:\ OS & programs
D:\ audio books, music, tv shows
E:\ anime, ftp storage, movies, and pictures from camera

>8 separate drives, 7 less than 50% capacity
>300gb drive for installation files
kill yourself
sda 8:0 0 232.9G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 1.2G 0 part
├─sda2 8:2 0 60G 0 part
└─sda3 8:3 0 171.7G 0 part /

First two are W7 and book, last one is Arch.

Why'd you partition each drive into sections instead of just using the folder structure?
boot, and Windows boot if that wasn't specific, /boot is on my root partition.

My BDMV folder
I had a bad virus wipe out a ton of stuff back in 06. Only things on another partition were saved.

My HDD stopped working recently and I want to replace it with a SSD. My motherboard is from 2010 and only supports SATA 2. Should I just go for the best (storage/dollar) SSD I can find? Try to find a SSD that has a max read write of 300MB (The supposed maximum bandwidth of SATA 2)?

Sorry if this isn't the most appropriate place to post this, I didn't want to post a new thread.
>Having this many local hard drives IN WINDOWS.
Kill yourself's already.
Or then just go for the best SSD and upgrade your mobo sometime in the near future.
Just grab a either a kingston SSD if your short on cash.
Or grab a good Samsung 850 pro if you have the dosh.
I was planning on getting the Samsung 850 prom but I don't have any plans to upgrade my motherboard soon. The most demanding things I use my computer for are playing older/indie games and watching TV shows. Wouldn't a Samsung 850 Pro not be utilized to even half of it's power since I don't have SATA 3?

PS do you guys like my cake?
Doesn't matter.
You can turn on RAM caching for even better write speed.
I'm using it on my laptop with sata 2 and I with arm caching i get about 400 mb read speeds and about 200 write random speeds.
What doesn't matter? Sorry if that sounds terse

I suppose this is pretty straight forward.

C: Operating System and files that I haven't moved to other drives yet
F: Main data storage, music, photos, videos, and games I moved here to make room on G:
G: Games
H: DVD rips, VHS rips when I get a TV tuner, random unsorted files, Fraps videos
I: Partial backup of C: and F: and a couple hundred gigs of Fraps videos
Z: This was my media drive before it kind of failed and I upgraded to 2TB. It still works, but it's extremely slow at accessing and writing data

If I weren't a NEET I'd have a 1-2TB drive for games, and one for videos. I'd have another drive for pictures and audio/music.

And I would slowly phase them out with SSD's as I could afford it.

But that's just a dream.
>posting his name on 4chan
What is wrong with local drives???
> If I weren't a NEET I'd have a 1-2TB drive for games, and one for videos. I'd have another drive for pictures and audio/music.
Huh. Actually, I do have all of those (1,5TB for games, 1.5 TB for software/music/pictures, 3TB for movies, 3TB for anime and 600GB for backup), cannot post the picture since I am visiting my parents.
Because the cloud is superior.
Oh your right its so much better to store you're data on a platform you don't own so the feds can search through all your shit without a warrant and without your knowledge.
Ur so smrt I wish I was U

26TB of drives. They're all 2 or 3 TB WD Greens.

They're not mine though.
>Not even a TB of torrented material
>Running out of material to torrent

Maybe you should start getting proper rips instead of YIFY.
>all this non-raid
what the fuck are you kids doing

B: Temporary storage
Y: Games
Z: Backups and shit
W: Media1

Please let this be faked.

Why would it be faked friend?

everything important is obviously backed up, and I don't care about losing episodes or movies since I have fast internet and private tracker accounts
Maybe he was referring to the cringe worthy naming of your drives.
It's just a naming schema, same one I've been using for years!
Don't worry Anon, I liked it
