/g/'s loonix distro: http://logos-linux.org/
Where were you when /g/ finally did it?
All I get with the prerelease ISO is a desktop, and literally nothing else. I'm sorry for being such a scrub, but how the fuck am I supposed to get into the menu? How do I open a terminal? Is it supposed to be like this?
I've googled the i3 guide and ttried that, and I get nothing. Literally no combination of keybinds that should do something, do nothing. That's what I mean by "just a desktop". I can't even open dmenu for some reason.
Maybe it's got to do with Virtualbox
To all with the i3 issues, you have
a)burned a cd
b)loaded and booted that cd
c)entered the desktop succesfully
d)attempted standard i3 calls like mod+enter/mod+d
and received no response?
Is this correct?
>Maybe it's got to do with Virtualbox
happened to me to, virtualbox doesn't like the windows key and won't take it, haven't found out how to send it directly, didn't try fullscreen mode though
>Lo/g/os is a surprisingly stable and functional OS.
1. Add autistic i3 with a userbase of ~2 people
2. Release ISO
3. Wait for the shitstorm
If pre-riced, then it needs (maybe a wallpaper?) with a guide how to use the WM (like crunchbang did it with conky). That would be the perfect solution. Afaik they want to replace i3 later with i3-gaps, a good moment to add such a user guide.
Rather more than 2 people use I3. Voluntarily did I install it (granted, I am autistic).
Wait for shitstorm, though? People are legitimately working on riceDB.
Later there should be more options. Currently, using the logos disk is really, pretty pointless.
>it needs (maybe a wallpaper?) with a guide how to use the WM
but first of all they need to fix the first line in the screenfetch output, my OCD is triggered
Hey niggers, I added some boldness to the lower part and fixed the space.
if [[ "$no_color" != "1" ]]; then
c1=$(getColor 'green') # Green
c2=$(getColor 'white') # White
c3=$(getColor 'light green') # Bold Green

keep it up /g/, someday you'll make it :^)

It took me 20 secs to make the poll based on what people were posting in the thread. This is something /g/ should decide and us devs aren't gonna bang our heads debating this kinda thing.
Check testing, buddy.
Developer here and absolutely. Toshino Kyoko.
Development is much easier and plus it was voted on by you guys.
$MOD + Enter
($mod is set as WINDOWS key). Check the i3 configuration file
Windows & enter :~)
Booting it in virtual box can cause this problem. Are you sure virtual box is taking your keyboards input? Double check your settings in virtual box.
mod + enter for terminal.
Absolutely! Read the i3 configuration file and default key bindings. I believe there are videos on i3 WM as-well. If you're having a such hard time, install Openbox for now until you get the hang of i3. i3 is much more preferred for ricing though because tiling. I believe twily a has a tiling script. Not sure, check out his website twily.info
How can I set my keymap to dvorak in this thing?
It's really frustrating to use right now because I've used dvorak so long that I have no idea how to type qwerty.
I tried localectl set-keymap --no-convert dvorak just for a temporary fix but that didn't work. I would maybe peer around a little more but typing in this thing is a goddamn pain.
Best post today. Made me kek the hell out of fucking nowhere. 10/10
Wiki says this: The default keyboard layout is US. Alternative keyboard layouts can be loaded with loadkeys keymap_file: keymap files can be found in /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/ (path and file extension can be ommitted).
It doesn't work. I tried loadkeys dvorak and loadkeys mac-dvorak (just because I came across it) and they didn't change anything.
loadkeys shit will return an error so I know it can recognize them.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about lo/g/os, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in /g/raphic design, and I’ve been involved in numerous logo threads on /g/, and I have created over 300 OC logos.
this. a good distro is one that can be built from the bottom up.
i actually doubt many people hold the standards i do about lightweight distros. i might make a website or fucking something devoted to nothing but distros that allow you to build instead of break down.
>with an installer and UI manager
>no choosing for the user
Site looks good though, separate the programs list into multiple columns and you're golden.
Also, change the status bar to use stlarch icons.
few emoticons summarize how saying that made me feel. but this is it. the exact emotion i was feeling. it is crazy to think that someone, far away, may have been sharing the exact same emotion as me. this is insane
just had to say something because i was experiencing some really strange emotions and needed to share
So if it's based on arch does that mean it uses systemD?
>mfw newfags don't remember Cirn9
n00b here, plz halp.
>download .iso and burn to usb
>boot lo/g/os, everything is out of ratio
>hooray time to deal with proprietary radeon drivers
>terminal stays over firefox and does not respond to commands
>download catalyst omega drivers, no application to open .zip
>super+return sudo apt-get install squeeze
Am I doing something wrong?
Why do people use a tiling dwm like i3? Can you actually work comfortably and fast with your setup or do you look at mpd/htop/screenfetch all day long? I am dead serious as I have tried to use a i3 only twice, once just now with lo/g/os. How am I supposed to know how to do anything? I pressed almost every key on my keyboard and had to check itt how to open a terminal. Resizing the windows with your mouse is a pain. I know there's probably a keyboard shortcut to do this but yet again, how am I supposed to find out other than studying a howto/tutorial and remember all that crap for such simple tasks?
I can understand using it on a system that doesn't have good hardware, since it really minimizes resource usage, but on modern hardware there is no reason at all to use it, aside from autism or already beeing used to it
gentoo is just too much of a hassle imho if you want to make a distro with an installer etc that takes care of use flags and portage conf and whatnot that doesn't take forever
I mean it could use the binary portage trees but that would really defeat the purpose of gentoo
>What's the point of coming up with a "distro" that's really just a pre-riced version of an existing distro
I don't really know, ask the dev-team
AFAIK the riceDB they are working on should be useable on other distros as well, so at least there's something to look forward too
It's the same version as this. md5sums match.
So what's the news?
When will be a new logos release?
How about riceDB?
Please respond, devels!
News is we're working on riceDB. Currently we've gotten basic funcitonality down and are working on the ncurses interface as well as the server.
The new release will be authored once riceDB is done
riceDB is underway and making good progress. Feel free to join in the conversation at the gitter: https://gitter.im/nih0/logos#
.how am I supposed to find out other than studying a howto/tutorial
>how come I don' just know how do something I've never done before
>how can I get a degree other thsn studying for X amount of years?
you fucking mong
Why has nobody explained how to freaking copy over the riced configs and shit?
No mention of a nice pacstrap line
No mention of what getPacks.sh does
No custom install.txt in the home folder
No fucking explanation at all how to use it
