Are there any UMPCs still on the market, or a modern equivalent? The idea of a pocket-able Linux device with a (albeit tiny) physical keyboard is very appealing.
True, they did take that market segment, but UMPC are they're not really equivalent, though. No physical keyboards, Android rather than real Linux, etc.
You'd use it much like use their phones, only with the full capabilities of a full PC running a light Linux distro.

Working on it
Well, realistically, I would expect a modern UMPC to have a ~6 in screen. Basically, if a company would take the current 6" phablet designs, ditch the phone part, put a physical keyboard where the screen usually is, and attach the screen with hinges for a clam-shell design, I'd be happy.
Are you guys stupid?
Those UMPCs are manufactured by some obscure chinese company and they are sold with different names and models.
Theres no way massdrop can ever get a hold of them.
At least thats what the massdrop faq says it does.
The drop will never happen for several reasons. 1, as you said, its some random Chinese company, the copy of Windows that it ships with probably isn't even legit, 2. it's not going to get enough votes to make it through Massdrop's system, 3. I imagine Massdrop would get pretty bad press if they sold a product that was most likely full of spyware, has no warranty, etc.
I thanked Anon because he gave me the link I asked for.
>UMPCs are for ants. What about a nice 17" workstation with a drawing tablet built into the palmrest?
That picture is really old, there actually is essentially that.
> shitty rubber keys
> pointing stick where the enter button should be, and not in the middle where G-D intended it to be
> no clicky buttons or middle scroll bar in the middle
> keyboard is nonstandard and is one directly on top of the other
> no left control key
What a piece of shit.
> Anon how would you use the pointer on a 6 inch or so device if it were in the middle?
Are you seriously implying it hasn't been done before?
> 6 inch
Surely you jest.
