Tech things which are unbelivable
>Google Docs still doesn't support anything than single page-centered view
>what year is it even
>Windows still can't preview .gifs
>must make a password, make sure its secure
>must be between 8 and 16 letters with at least one number and one capital letter, no funny symbols allowed, only a-z and 0-9 are permitted characters
I'm sure the point of the law was to force websites to stop placing unnecessary cookies, especially tracking cookies instead of bugging visitors with those annoying messages. But we're talking about the same people that plastered their websites in pop-up ads back in the day. They don't give a damn.
Just give it up. Linux will always be shit
>Linux still has no Adobe Suite
>you get a headache whenever you want to install the printer software in Linux
>not paying for news
To be fair I only pay for NYT. NYT is worth the subscription imo.
The digital subscription is cheap and I can use it everywhere.
Or you can use the literally thousands of free alternatives
I do, but no one reports as fast or with the same quality that NYT has. NYT isn't perfect, and it has a pretty decently liberal bias, but everything is biased. At that point you just need to be aware of the slant and go for the one that does the most accurate reporting.
Pic related, some of the shit I read.
I don't know where to ask and I don't want to start a new thread.
I was messing with startup programs so I can disable junk I don't want all the time but'll need eventually and I came across two Asus programs that are listed as from an Unknown manufacturer. There are two OTHER Asus programs listed as coming from the ASUSTeK Computer Inc., but for some reason these are from Unknown, pic related.
Is this a virus? I've tried Google but I can't find anything about it. I've run some security scans and Malwarebytes but they haven't picked up anything.
And I just realized those are the two Asus programs from Asus, here's the unknown ones.
Had no idea there were fucking paywall shills on /g/. That, or this is something like reverse sour graping, where after you pay for it you are convinced that it's actually worth it.
I'd rather pay for my news and not have to worry if they got paid off to write some article then to read some stupid ad-supported news bullshit where every other article is a sponsored report with no proper labeling.
Honestly, are you all getting your news from RT or something?
I don't really want to reinstall. There's nothing important on here but with that in mind there's nothing really worth backing up, but it'd still be a hassle to reinstall all my preferences.
I'd rather just purge whatever this shit is, but I can't find it.
If you don't want to help that's fine anon, but being passive aggressive still makes you a douchecannoe.
Oh and I forgot the biggest problem I'm having. Startup items won't display through Task Manager, it's just straight up blank. I can't seem to access it at all and nobody else seems to have this issue. I figure I'll just have to get some third party program to get into my startup programs now. No noticeable slowdown on my computer or anything but this is fishy, to say the least.
It's pretty clear that ads don't work. Anyone who knows their shit just gets an adblocker, thus the only people being targeted for ads are the people who don't know shit
thus there's a strong influence to degrade the quality of the work to support that bottom tier of people
and thus you have nearly every free news source moving more and more into buzzfeed style news
paywalls make a lot more sense, and there is a much greater tendency towards quality, or at least an attempt at it, though they're still generally too pricy.
otherwise it's entirely free websites, that lack ads in the first place, that one can go to for an attempt at quality
but rarely, if ever, does an ad supported website move towards quality content production.
No I mean startup programs just straight up aren't displaying. At all. Only a recent problem, last month I was able to use it fine but now it saysthere are no startup items to display.
And yeah this is the most relevant thread I could find, sorry.
Probably just consult a tech forum at this point.
>Tech things which are unbelivable
Tablets and Smartphones and similar shit. I grew up watching Startrek Next Generation, and now we actually have the shit they were using all the time. Hell our shit actually seems almost MORE advanced in some ways.
Holodecks and transports fucking when?
I look forward to seeing what crazy shit we have in another 20 years.
You don't even know how bad it can be.
Fuck accounts. Whenever I need an account to see something, I either go to bugmenot to get one, and if there are none, then fuck that website.
As with flash, fuck it too. The only reason I have it installed is to play some games. I'm also waiting for firefox to implement a native SWF player like >>47600217 so I can finally uninstall that piece of shit.
>just until a couple months ago Google Calendar didn't have a month view
>Youtube app STILL can't play in the background
it's because jewgle doesn't want you its users to use youtube to play music while on the go (which is how 90% of people who understand jack shit about technology listen to music for free) because they want their users to buy the songs on google music.
Month view was in the older Calendar. Now it's back. So what's the issue?
YT has been able to play in the background for a while: https://www.youtube.com/musickey
Then why is the feature available as part of Google Play Music subscription? You're not buying anything with that.
>Google some random shit I need for a guide or come across an interesting article
>Website is a slideshow
>Article or guide spans across different pages e.g page 1 out of 5 and you have to load each page.
>Website forces you to make an account
>Website has annoying popup shit that won't go away unless you do what it asks
>using appchan x
>submit button randomly stops working
>4chan x hasn't updated in years
No, buying implies some sort of ownership, you're PAYING for a subscription.
Correct. There's also the legality to consider where it's very questionable on YT as most of the time it's not uploaded by the artist. Which brings me to another point...
WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU STREAMING TRANSCODED TO ALL FUCK LOW QUALITY MUSIC ON YOUTUBE IN THE FIRST PLACE!?!?
This is the real problem here.
4chan has had a built-in plugin for a while.
Besides some ultra-niche features and absolutely retarded shit like mascots it has all of the essential features 3rd party shit has. I haven't bothered keeping up with the million 4chan X forks in forever due to this.
