has it ever crossed your mind that your computer and everything on your screen was just the by product of a bunch of transistors and diodes performing boolean functions?
the scale of it all is hurting my brain.
>everything in your home that you call "your" own was made by someone else
Yes. It's called abstraction, and you think at whatever level is appropriate for what you want to do.
If you're studying CS or CE you will learn how to think at several levels of abstraction.
See this jacket? Richeat whitw youve ever seen. Well guess what its yours. This tie? The noose around my neck. Everything ive worked for, everything my dad has. Its yours. Take it. Because where im going,I wont need it
Has it ever crossed your mind that consciousness is a bi-product of billions of neurons, which are essentially Boolean functions?
I mean just look at this shit. this is just a 4-bit ALU. 4 fucking bits.
>tfw you can't even grasp how a basic fucking circuit works
FUCKING KILL ME NOW IM SICK OF THIS SHIT
fuck i hate thinking about this
>inanimate object becomes animate
>learns that it will oneday become inanimate again
and this is haswell.
fuck imagine being the guy that has to do adjustments to these schematics eh?
DECs architectures were optimized manually. They were fastest in their times because of that.
Of course i'm not arguing about whether optimizing haslel manually is a good idea or not. Just a fun fact.
>implying I didn't gather all the materials to build a house myself, then build the house myself, built my own electricity generator, hunt asks father my own food, built everything from my fridge to my TV myself
>and bought the land and declared my own sovereign state on that land
Move it, pleb. Gaze upon my majestic crown.
The joys of living in society. You don't have to waste time doing this all shit yourself so you can concentrate on more important things.
I look down on your pathetic crown, faggot.
Yes it has. That's one reason why I like messing with simpler computer systems, either modern embedded microcontrollers or vintage computers, because it enables one to get a little bit closer to that level.
But in computing you'll never get down to the transistor level, because it's just too complicated, too much to hold in your head. Machine code is pretty close, though.
Why would anyone represent a whole CPU in basic logic gates, except to give people nausea ?
CS is the art of abstraction, everything are just electrons following Maxwell's equations...
I was stuck thinking about that just yesterday. And I was looking at microscope images of processors and making numbers in my head about the cheer number of complex calculations needed just to paint a few pixels black from me writing this sentence.
You are now manually aware that my keyboard is now controlling your monitor indirectly, no matter when or where you are in the world.
>You don't have to waste time
>you can concentrate on more important things
If everyone thought like you there'd be no more phones, computers, lamps, cars, etc. etc. etc. everything human kind achieved would be gone in no time compared to the time it took to achieve these things.
Can this be a logisim thread?
I made my first turing complete cpu the other day, it basically implements brainfuck, so its inefficient as fuck but it werks, I chose to do so because of the simplicity given it was my first attempt, also its really cool to be able to just grab brainfuck source from the web or wherever, chuck it into a hex converter and run it
The brain. How the fuck does it work?
I mean we know how computers work. As of today we could program computers to do some shit and react to it based on a program. It could be similar to a sentient life form but it is still deterministic.
Supposing there is no magic involved in the brain, shouldn't we have deterministic mechanisms that tell us what we do even though we think it's our own will?
Fuck my brain hurts
Well shit I didn't know development had been indefinitely suspended
Shit happens I guess, thankfully its already pretty feature rich though, and open source if things get really desperate
Its an illusion, just like everything else, its the most functional and effective way for your brain to perform abstract and high-level decision making, I've always thought consciousness was just like a shell, a high-level interface to the real inner workings
Has it ever occurred to you that you can suck some blood out of your arm and put it under a microscope. There you will see amoebic phagocyte "white blood cells" just minding their own business, crawling around on their own, exploring the the terrain eating stuff.
