I am a student of computer science and I basically hate this school, I was forced into it by my parents and I don't see myself working anywhere near computer science in the future. As a kid I've always been creative, I had great drawing skills which I left behind, and I am slowly starting to understand that I am made to draw, create and design. I read the sticky but I can't find any good books that help me get started with design, practical and theoretical both. I am willing to dedicate my time to this as it's my passion. Love it, that beat is so ill...Do some beter sound editing as far as sfx are concerned like edit out the crinking of the water bottle plastic [unless u like the realness in that] what triggered me was the act of yah sound lightning or whatever instead of using the tin pan use like an actual short lightning crack....
I don't like the font in the credits. It doesn't match the title and byline, or the tone of the film, really.
Whenever Mike(?) says "oh hello didn't see ya" I think he should be in a different position on camera, so it doesn't look like a crappy YouTuber cut where they slice out all their ums and uhs. Normally it's good about that, but when he's out in the snow it's noticeable.
A lot of sections have too much background noise/echo. Look into some sort of way to record the audio without that.

How to design like a normal graphic designer? I mean, how to create a natural no hipsterish design for advertising/serious clients, looks professional and mature. Where can I learn this, give me some tips
I have created a cover page for my folder in my Ar Communication class. I was going for minimalist, simple and clean. Has anyone else ever created a cover page for a folder or book, what do you recommend or suggest.

I actually really like the Pinterest logo, it's simple, to the point so it works in all sizes, from tiny mobile app icons to bigger print and letter heads (works in black and white too) it gets that single letter recognition (like F for Facebook, A for Amazon etc) it works both as the letter P and a pin with twine on it with no one having to tell you what it's meant to represent (like the stupid Commonwealth Bank logo)
>>261221 If you're a junior designer, it's mediocre. But if you posess some other talents, you can earn a shit load of money. Selling yourself well is more important than making good work. Doing both is gold.
Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out how to add GLUI to my opengl project. I tried to install it thru apt-get but the packages are not available. I've downloaded a zip file which contains the headers and the sources files but I dont know where to copy the source, and which line to type to compile the whole whole stuff.I am working on other projects and this GLUI stuff is time consuming, some guidance or help would be appreciated, thanks.
>>261109 >unity you dont copy the source code you need to compile it. you need to install the build-essential package. if you dont want to mess with compiling source code you can just install an arch based distro such as manjaro and its mos likely on the AUR
I have no idea where to go for this, maybe /g/, maybe here but im hoping one of you can help me with my Photoshop woes
I recently got a new monitor, its running off of my motherboard, but if I try to run photshop cs5 it doesnt allow me to do 3d because it seems that photoshop is automatically defaulting to my CPU instead of my AMD GPU.
I downloaded CC and now it doesnt even start a new file unless I disable my second monitor and then start it up.
Everything I see online is giving me tips with an nvdia card, but im AMD. Someone help pls
your onboard "graphics card" isn't powerful enough to run both the 3d features of photoshop and a second screen at the same time. You can go to edit>preferences>performance to tweak settings and have photoshop use less resources which might help
>>261110 I have a 7970, and an i7 3770k, theyre seperate. The second screen is vga'd out of the mobo. I cant adjust the memory usage because it crashes immediately. >>261111 Yeah I might just end up selling this card and getting a nvidia card, Ive had problems with this thing in the past, cause ive already done all the updates and all
>>260140 not that common since you have to be very smart and subtle about it. you can watch tons of vids on youtube about that stuff but most of them are just coincidences. a few years ago i watched a documentary probably made by a christian channel and it shows a lot of subliminal messages in cartoons/ads/tv etc. but i haven't been able to find it again it was like 3 hours long and most of the things they show didn't make any sense at all but it was fun to watch.

Any idea what kind of work I should submit for my portfolio into uni? I know it has to be graphic design related but all I can think about are imaginary logos and posters. I suck at drawing so that's out of the question too
>>261438 I have a uni interview tomorrow, what I'm bringing is all my finished work and sketchbooks including development Sketchbook development is important
Also when I submitted my mini-portfolio when I was trying to get the interview spot, they gave me criteria to fill in (10 digital work, 10 traditional work/development), but it may differ depending on the course you're looking to apply for

I have a problem. I am new to graphic design, and generally any kind of image editing, so I might not know specific terms. I have a couple of images I was working on in paint.net, and I moved parts(selections) of the image, which would in turn move the selection, but also leave a checkered space where the image used to be. I was fine with this, and I thought it looked pretty cool in context with my image. When I exported the image from paint.net, I was able to view it in my windows photo viewer, but the checkered spaces where black. I was fine with that too,... Comment too long. I need to design a mascot with humanoid appearance. And the question is: It is immoral to use an image to the design structure? I should try to draw with my knowledge? Or is "okay" to use this "cheat"?
>>261393 It is okay to use images purchased from other photographers in advertising campaigns, but in art have a nonsense ethics. I really do not know what to do, and both sides have their defense. Oh, and no, this is not an artwork, but a graphic design work.
>>261223 It's worth it to buy books on general design. It's not worth it to buy books on design programs, as they change so fast that the information in it is usually outdated by the time you read the book.
>>261180 Yeah, massively. Text is barely readable and somehow offset (wednesday), the background image has weird proportions and the overall way you layed out the crucial information is very poor. Try again.
>>261185 they actually got signed to subpop and are in the middle of a world tour. There music is meh. I knew the girl playing bass guitar before she ever played bass in that band. she is a wuss and not very cool. kindof surprised her band is blowing up.
I'm working on the identity of a eco-houses startup. The company want to build modern ecological prefabricated house with high grade of customization for the client. The houses are not only ecological but pretty technological with domotica, home automation and all kind on IoT shit. So, it's a high-end product but with pretty good price and fast building time.
The problem is that I'm kind of stuck with the logo and the image cause at the moment I'm trying avoiding fucking stupid trees or leaves to represent... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
The client pushed on the "eco factor" but I think the whole idea it's not just that and ecology it's just one of the values of the project. It's also a new way of building, buying and intend the house. (the idea includes a pretty articulated and new system from the production to the selling). The technological/domotica/IoT thing is also pretty juicy.
