>>242697 The game's a qsuedo turn based RPG where players assemble teams of up to 6 heroes (arranged in a 3x2 grid) to fight in dungeons/arenas.
The game field looks something like this atm (I'm still working heavily on the UI atm).
One of the character cards (the vanguard) on the player side has a golden border and greatly improved stats. It can also provide a buff of sorts to the rest of the allied team; making the vanguard a priority target to attack.
Hey /gd/, /ic/ anon here. I've noticed that a lot of the people on this board seem to be getting freelance work. /ic/ has a similar goal of getting work with their art but sadly very few of us actually have work. I currently have the mindset that graphic design has a much lower skill requirement to be good at. How much of this would you say is true. I feel that it is a very insulting mindset and I'm hoping that the truth is that graphic design is actually very hard. In the similar way that someone who doesn't draw would believe that once they've discovered... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Fairly easy to follow trends, but a real fucking skill to learn good, timeless design and then meaningfully apply it. Imagine all the web artists that have some bit of minor success because they gave a bunch of characters tumblr noses, and then consider where they are now and if that's really sustainable, if anyone really considers them good, and if they can get a real job out of it. I think you'll realize the difference between copy pasting meaningless hipster logos or slapping down bits of text in left... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
It takes more than online tutorials, college courses and pirated copies of adobe products to be a good graphic designer. There's some things that you just can't learn or teach someone.
Ahmed Tuctuc the VII and his $3 logos have had a huge impact on graphic design. Quantity over quality has become the norm. Sub-par, even bad design is acceptable.
Over the years, I've noticed that the majority of young designers lack any skill OFF the computer. Ask them to sit and sketch a basic still life on paper and they wont know where to begin. It's really sad.
The old term 'starving artist' is no longer valid, a 'stupid artist' is more appropriate.
Not many people in the art/design field have much knowledge when it comes to business. As a freelance artist you need to understand basic business principals if you want to succeed. I'd highly recommend that anyone who plans on freelancing to take some business classes.
there will always be design everywhere. good design and bad design. The main difference about art and design is that design has a function, a design has a practical measurable goal unlike a piece of art. design lacks the freedom illustration has when it comes to artistic styles. Design is run by principles, and you can learn those principles just like you can learn perspective in drawing, but to be able to do good design. not everyone can do it, at least not people who... From a purely marketing perspective, as in for the average consumer of such supplements browsing an eCommerce website, which bottle render do you think is the most appealing? Most likely to be bought? Thanks for your feedback.
>>242533 It's confusing and artsy (in the worst sense).
IMO a portfolio website should first and foremost communicate the work that it presents. Only after that it could become a work in itself. Otherwise it will just be an exercise and style without really being connected with what it's presenting. In this particular case I'd say it fails in both fronts, style-wise it kinda looks dated, adobe flash old.
So you're riding that dutch bandwagon of designers pushing it through overlapping features, memorabilia styles and off-the-grid design, uh?
I kinda like it although the zero-responsive attitude. I confess I'm pro-responsive at any cost.
The only hitch I encountered is about navigating through projects when inside one (eg from pistolshrimp to pi). Seems easier to add steps inbetween: home - pistolshrimp - home - pi. Every click is gold these times.
This year, the cups are more minimalist -- a red ombre design that Jeffrey Fields, Starbucks' vice president of design, said was meant to embrace “the simplicity and the quietness” of the holiday season.
I'm about to graduate with a bachelors in GD. After seeing this photo and the quote I wonder if I wasted my time or is everything this brain dead simple....How the fuck does RED represent quiet?
>>242350 honestly OP, if all you want to do is to vectorize it and change slight things, there's software that can do it for you (pic related). I'm just saying this because I guess that's a logo for your metal band.
Hiring a real designer will make the logo better. There's lots of room for improvement, the K looks like an X and the E is weird.
