It's Ash Wednesday, /his/.
Remember that you are dust, and to dust you will return.
Is there anything preventing me from receiving ashes from two different services? I don't think so but have no source for that. I'm going to Catholic, not Anglican, services. thank you
>Viking helmets had Horns
Post things people actually believe about ancient cultures
Tell me about East Africa.
Are they mixed niggers/arabs? Whats their history, anything of note?
Seems to be very little of whats supposed to be the place where modern humans originated
>9th Grade U.S. History lesson
>learning about the Revolutionary War
>teacher suggests watching a movie
>it's the fucking Patriot
You think they'd accept the most realistic Revolutionary War film knowing its a musical? None of these millennial plebs appreciate musicals, even the Disney ones.
/his/ if you could go back in time and change anything what would you do
I would kill Mohammad as a child to save all the beautiful pre-Arab cultures like the Persians and Egyptians ect.
(Someone posted this pic on my thread so I'll share it.) I'd give Adolf Hitler a thumbs up. Not sure if it would change anything, but it would sure as hell be legendary.
>Jesus spent 40 days in some desert wanking off
>Zoroaster spent 10 years in a cave thinking
>Jesus only left the dead cave by the hands of his disciples
>Zoroaster left the cave alive in the style of Plato's allegory
When did you realize that Zoroaster is the objectively superior religious figure?
This was pretty common. The council of Nicea was testament to this; Constantine sitting Christians down to decide what form of Christianity was best for the empire, not which was true.
>FPS as conquistador in the mesoamerica
>go to tenochtitlan with Cotez
>hurr durr we iz aztecs n sheittt
>blow their shit up (eventually)
So, i have a hypothetical question for you.
Who would be the better sucsessor for lenin, trotsky or stalin?
How would trotsky have handled industrialization? The Nazis? The invaison of Poland? Not to meantion Trotsky's global views of communism. Would he have blead the USSR dry with foreign pursuits unlike stalin? Would Trotsky negotiate with the Nazis into neutrality or join them against the capatalist pigs?
I mean, it's hard to deny that Stalin was a monster, but it's also hard to deny that he industrialized Russia into a superpower in very...

Hey, so I don't know if this is the right board to post this on to be honest but what the hell.
I'm an American (like the USA kind) and like many of my fellow Americans I'm a mutt ethnically. Of course we all are to some extent throughout the course of history. I'm split between Lithuanian, Irish, Czechoslovakian, Native American, and of course more many more I'm sure that I'm not aware of.
Is there a benefit to being able to claim one main heritage? It seems like it would be comforting to participate in traditions that have been handed down for generations. The only culture I have is none at all. Just streamlining other cultures into cookie cutter profitable items and holidays.
Do cultural traditions play an important part in society?
Do you guys have one main ethnicity or culture you identify with?
What do you guys think?
In my anger and jealousy over being a mongrel, I've joined with the Jewish international conspiracy to destroy all unique races and blend mankind into one homogenous people devoid of differences.
Not really, Mexicans define themselves as one race even though there are varying degrees of mixes, and I think the best thing to do is to define yourself as an American instead of an Irish-American or a German-American like half the fucking country does, you have a great country, be a part of it, do not isolate yourself by assigning yourself a title. You are great no matter your past.
Why were there no Waffen SS units deployed in Stalingrad?
Hitler VASTLY underestimated the power and cunning of the red army.
The seige of leningrad was relatively easy for the Nazis, so i supposed that they assumed that things would be as easy further East. At the time, the Nazis were still fighting on the western front and locking down their position in the west. The 6th army was joined with the italians and the hungarians (kek) after the russian counter offensive,
The soviet counter offensive saw over a million men and almost twice the ammount of tanks as...

>I will not betray my dream. That is all. I told you once I will get my own kingdom. Nothing has changed. Nothing has ended. Rickert, if you learn the truth and come to hate me, so be it. But if even then you say you can still chase the dream I'll have no cause to refuse you.
What did he mean by this?
ITT: Historical figures who started from the bottom.
>Born into a society that was sometimes so poor, their cloaks were made from the skins of field mice
>Father was killed by rival tribe
>Had two horses to his name
>Made allies, crushed his opponents and became the greatest conqueror in history.
I wasn't really sure if this was the correct board to post this specific topic on, but it said history. I'm going for it. Basically, I'm trying to collect as many historical pictures as I can. Planes are much appreciated. First picture are Fw-190's of Jagdgeschwader 54 "Grunherz". They are 190's of the A-5 variant.
This one is my personal favorite. The soviets are taking a break to watch an acrobatic show on top of a KV-1.
This one hits hard, German soldiers watching footage from concentration camps.
Is this art or pornography?
I'm going to say it's the former because I don't want to get banned.
Ireland thread: Wishing we were relevant edition
100 Year Anniversary of the Easter Rising is coming up fast, and the question I have for you fellas is:
If Ireland had managed to Unite and stay united, whether through Brian Boru's based antics or some other means, what possibility or capacity would they have had for outward expansion?
Were Irish warriors actually famed for being bretty gud? Is there a scenario in which part of the world not on the island of Ireland could have been under Irish control?
Were we relevant?
>William of Malmesbury's humorous anecdote illustrates both the character of John Scotus Eriugena and the position he occupied at the French court. The king having asked, "Quid distat inter sottum et Scottum?" (what separates a sot (drunkard) from an Irishman?) and Eriugena having replied, "Tabula tantum" (Only a table), the implication being that King Charles himself was a drunkard.
Based Eriugena bringing the bantz
