What do people mean by meaning (in life)?

I see this shit alot, but I don't get it.

Is it the same thing as purpose? I thought any philosophical view gives you a purpose, either to fuck, be at peace, try to find the truths of the world etc. etc.

Maybe I'm retarded but please try to explain it to me.

When you're born, you're told you're put on here for a specific reason, whether it be out of destiny, because the deity you love and fear decided to, because it was your calling, or because you had a duty to love your fellow man, take over the world, etc. and as you grow, you're slowly stripped of your illusions and your beliefs begin to be taken away from you.

My interpretation is that meaning is purpose. Think of the phrase,
>what is the meaning of this?

A car has meaning. We gave it meaning. A car's meaning...

So they can be used interchangeably?

According to this chart (please don't laugh) meaning is associated with religion and politics, so what makes those things have meaning as oppose to Buddhism and absurdism?

My question really is what is the difference between the two words since they obviously can't be used completely interchangeably

He was Great because he build up the country that defeated the Teutonic Order and pretty much subjugated Ruthenians.
It was his economic genius that helped Poland rebuild and wage war against Teutons.

He probably had a lot of bastard children, too bad the Piast line ended.

French pronunciation is way more logic than the english one. If you are struggeling with french pronunciation, try to listen to a lot of french native speakers. Watch french movies, radio programs and youtube channels. A historical approach won't help you here.
>>
>>1928756
Is it closer to 'standard black english' then, where words don't necessarily need to be conjugated? Because there've been a ton of verbs already that are identical-sounding no matter the conjugation.
>>

French is the biggest muh heritage language ever. Half the letters are just there because it was written like that in mommy Latin. That being said, pronunciation is very regular and I cant think of any exceptions. As for the verbs, context is everything.

Nice people too. Poor people who look like they were starving to death was always offering their food to travelers. The government is beyond corrupt though. Many people from Europe go there to bribe the police and kill people, either a cheating wife case or just greed for bloodshed. We had armed guides with us everywhere.

The Mughal Empire was the responsible of the Decline of Buddhism in India and Central Asia. All the people who are currently Muslims in that region have got Buddhist forebears.

> From 986 CE, the Muslim Turks started raiding northwest India from Afghanistan, plundering western India early in the eleventh century. Force conversions to Islam were made, and Buddhist images smashed, due to the Islamic dislike of idolarty. Indeed in India, the Islamic term for an 'idol' became 'budd'.

UK and France were desperate to avoid another war, and the sentiment that Hitler's requests were somewhat legitimate was widespread.
After all, in that period, communism was seen as a far bigger threat by many. Though people like Churchill saw through Hitler's plans, many did not and many even saw him positively as a man who saved Germany.
And while this modern propaganda about how Putin is new Hitler is ridiculous, it's kinda easy to see where is that coming from.

Easily. It wasn't Brazil where slaves were almost a necessity for manual labor thanks to the climate and shit like malaria. In fact, slavery was almost dead when the U.S. was founded. Most of the crops grown weren't conducive to slave labor... at least until the advent of long staple cotton and the invention of the cotton gin. Slavery in the U.S. as most people know it was a consequence of King Cotton, not some inevitability.

I've been reading up on tournaments and jousting recently and am curious about other 'sports' and public entertainment during the middle ages.

Were the opulent and burdensome looking helmets of later jousters developed from the identifying and distinct helmets that nobles would wear to single themselves out for ransom?

For most European countries sport hasn't changed all that much. There was football, there was tennis and boxing and wrestling.

Now not quite the way we know them today but they were largely similar.

In Medieval England Archery had to practiced once a week by law though it's debateable wether it was really considered a sport but certainly it was an obviously popular past time.

In Germany Shooting took off in a major way certainly by the 16th century and shooting events and tournaments were massive and fairly regular. Fencing and wrestling were...
