Why don't we dress this way anymore? Its a beautiful way to appear, and people could afford to do so. Panners and such wouldnt need whalebone because we have substitutions, and precious gems could be fakes. Just imagine going to the grocery store or pa5ing taxes dressed like this!

Case French fashion of the XVII-XVIII Centuries is shit.
The Spanish one from just earlier on the other way.

What was Sykes-Picot?
Is it really one of the main reasons why the Middle East is so messed up today?
During WW1, The Ottomans were with the Central Powers.
The entente promised to support free, Arab states in the region if they revolted against Ottoman rule, which they did.
But Britain and France had made a secret agreement (Sykes-Picot) to split the land between themselves as colonies, which they did after the war.
So now the Arabs are pissed because they didn't get what they were promised. To make things worse, when the colonies finally got independence their borders were drawn along colonial lines with...

Unless they could've fought it out like Europe where every ethnicity either has its own territory or was destroyed in the process. That's the whole point though, Africa, Asia and the middle east never had the chance to form their own borders because of imperialism. And now it's too late because Europeans and Americans have a compulsive need to interfere because of economic reasons.

An angry misogynistic misanthrope who couldn't get laid or a great philosopher whose profundity we have yet to fathom? What are your thoughts of Friedrich Nietzsche?
Do societies progress, or simply change from one side of the spectrum to another? Will the west ever go back to hating gays?
There's no biological imperative to hate them anymore.
>inb4 they spread AIDS
Yeah, among themselves. So if you hate gays you should actually ENCOURAGE fag behavior so they wipe each other out.

When and why did America stop having public intellectuals?
It used to be that the American public debate was between intellectuals who could talk in depth about political and philosophical issues, the way debate still works in France today. Instead it has become nothing but comedians parroting one-liners that were written for them for the purpose of entertainment.
It's not like public intellectualism was ever actually good. People parrot the opinions of those presented to them as experts. France has less right to lecture the Anglosphere about politics and philosophy than the average Francophone thinks.
>public debate was between intellectuals who could talk in depth about political and philosophical issues, the way debate still works in France today.
As a citizen of the french republic I have to say this : lol.
What's wrong with Communism? Why does everyone hate it so much?
>What's wrong with Communism?
It's an unachievable fantasy
>Why does everyone hate it so much?
Attempts to implement it led to the death of roughly 100 million people during the past century and the suffering of hundreds of millions more.
