Why has the base of support for communist movements and revolutions historically been illiterate/uneducated peasants and unskilled laborers? Is communism dependent on the ignorance and stupidity of the masses to succeed?
>communism preaches the death of the upper class in favour of the lower class
>why do members of the upper class not support it?
>why do members of the lower class support it?
Also, plenty of educated people were marxist back in the day. Today almost none are.
>Why has the base of support for communist movements and revolutions historically been illiterate/uneducated peasants and unskilled laborers?
These are the people communism seeks to help.
>Is communism dependent on the ignorance and stupidity of the masses to succeed?
That and people who know what they're doing at the helm, which is what the Pseudo-Marxists of today think they'll be when in reality they'll be one of the first to be torn apart.
Have you realised Zizek gives new talks at the drop of a hat? How is it that one guy can glide by solely based on extreme levels of charisma? How do I become like him?
Let's have a festive thread about the history of Santa Claus and Christmas,
All contributions on the subjects are welcome but a couple of provocative questions to get us going.
Is Christmas really a pagan festival rather than a Christian one?
Did the Coca-Cola company really invent the modern depiction of Santa?
According to Coca-Cola themselves the colours aren't their doing but their advertising played a significant part in the creation of the jolly, fat Santa we see today.
>Is Christmas really a pagan festival rather than a Christian one?
How Christmas is celebrated is pagan, obviously Santa/Odin and shit isn't Christian
What exactly is a psychopath? And is it true that a lot of leaders, high ranking, and influential people throughout history were psychopaths?
Was Diogenes of Sinope the first shitposter?
Why was HBO's 'Rome' so based?
How did a few bands of uncivilized, stone-wielding hunter-gatherers develop into a multi-continental conglomerate of nation-states with highly advanced cultures, economies, and technologies?
Religion in the form of colonizing Cults.
Was the Han dynasty as advanced as ancient Rome? Economically and technologically

Not even close, desu
Who's your favorite historical character?
Mine is Charlie the Really Big Guy.
Could they have ever won?
If the French/Poles were not an obstacle, but an ally, and the British at least economically helped them out.
Unfortunately, faggots are the victors of recent history.
What are your favorite outnumbered battles?

I have recently found myself infatuated with the practice of foot-binding in China. I find the painfulness of the initial procedures a major turn-off, but the aesthetics of the final product amazingly attractive. Oddly, I am not even disgusted by photography of the unwrapped lotus feet.
This practice pervaded life for women in China for so long, yet there is no real agreement on why the practice started. I have read at least three different versions of the origin of foot binding in China in studying the custom.
Am I the only one who finds this...

Why did they want people to confess? Couldn't they just light their asses? As if it made the slightest difference.
Because unlike Lenin, Stalin was very conscious of taking the moral high ground. The Soviet Union is the freest, most humanitarian country on earth, so when you liquidate people it's only because of their crimes as proved in a fair trial.
