I am somewhat fascinated by the history and politic of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe.
I hear they had some interesting military practices as far as their scouting regiments and such, but of course a troubled racial history.
What does /his/ think of Rhodesia?
Does /his/ know of any good material on Rhodesia and its history?
Pic related is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a species of dog said to be fiercely courageous and capable of fending off lions.
there's something i don't understand about this. was there something that was purely potential before god came to actualize it?
>If workers struggle for higher wages, this is hailed as “social gains”, if businessmen struggle for higher profits, this is damned as “selfish greed”.
Are you inclined to agree or disagree with this statement, and why? This is obviously Ayn Rand's quote, but her philosophy aside (inb4 she doesn't have a philosophy), what do you make of her perception of class struggles?
But what is "good enough"? Who decides at what point a certain individual becomes wealthy enough? When that person has a BMW? 2 of them? A house?
If a point isn't set in stone, then isn't that up to personal, and thus variable, interpretation?
Can I get an honest answer with no "14/88 woooo muh unkkkle adolf" shit?
Question: In the grand scheme of things, how significant has the contribution to science/inmovation/technology/philosophy been from Europe? Especially in comparison to China
>Question: In the grand scheme of things, how significant has the contribution to science/inmovation/technology/philosophy been from Europe? Especially in comparison to China
Europe was behind China's contribution until XIX, after the industrial revolution Europe got the advantage
Of course there will always be people fantasying about oriental people.
I'm half-oriental before the inevitable >white statement.
The question is far too broad to get coherent answers. Some people will consider some specific thing very important and neglect many others. Some will show bad faith and insist that some piece of Siamese woodcraft surpass anything done in 12th century France or 14th Mexico.
Of course there are the full retards like >>329707 and worse. Jared Diamond considered some irrelevant tribe a superior lifeforms because of their hunting techniques.
>people still think the Soviets had an efficient military force
>when they literally resorted to human wave tactics
>the universe must have a cause
>the unmoved mover does not
was he a fascist?
He was a victim of a faulty fuzzy theoretical and ideological framework which among other things did not account for political circumstances and realities, consolidated too much power and equipped its followers with unwarranted faith and zeal.
Let's have a historical photographs thread!
- Your favourite photographs from history
- Photos which say something particular about the period in which they were taken.
- Images which depict the history of your city/town/neighborhood
- Unique and interesting historical photographs others might not have seen before
This photograph was published in Sydney newspapers in 1933, apparently at the behest of the then Commissioner of Police to demonstrate to a sceptical press and public that police could in fact operate undercover.
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
From the Sydney Police & Justice Museum.
Demonstration of the techniques of pickpockets. Details unknown, but clearly a staged photograph, presumably made for police educational purposes.
Eugenia Falleni, alias Harry Crawford, 1920
When ‘Harry Leon Crawford’, hotel cleaner of Stanmore was arrested and charged with wife murder he was revealed to be in fact Eugeni Falleni, a woman and mother, who had been passing as a man since 1899.
In 1914, as ‘Harry Crawford’, Falleni had married the widow Annie Birkett.
Three years later, shortly after she announced to a relative that she had found out ‘something amazing about Harry’, Birkett disappeared.
Here is Falleni in her natural female form.
What's the current state of ethical and political philosophy? I'd love to brush up on the current issues being discussed.

Gun for the best grades possible. Read broadly and outside of the list. Be engaged without being an autistic, sycophantic hanger on.
If you are in a course with a practical component try and get a gig helping out a research student. You might get into academia or your resume will have enough for your potential employer to be able to read your commitment.
how damaging was this man?
i hear people saying he set back his conquered lands hundreds of years or is this just a meme
He did a number on China, which was the most advanced state in the world.
On the other hand he exported rice to persia which was a major boon to non chinese civilizations in the long run
Implying humans / apes / chimps didn't exist what animal species had the best chance at developing civilization?
Is hating Richard Dawkins a meme? Every time I see the man I immediately start thinking about fedoraism and rampant leftism, but when I read the guy he sounds very reasonable and pleasant.
Why is he disliked? wouldn't it be better to dislike his readers?
Is this what American thanksgiving is actually like?
