What are the Bahais like? Are they a cult, the Islamic version of Mormons, or a bona fide religion?
6 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
Not very much like Mormons at all. Mormonism started as an updated version of Christianity and was founded by a man who was obviously a scam artist.

Baha Ulah seems like a much more sincere figure, and he started his religion out of more of a reinterpretation of religious history and religion. It's more like Unitarianism that noticed most religions talk about the same things and make an effort towards reconciling different faiths. Another way of putting it would be that Mormonism started out to correct Christianity, Baha'i started out as an effort to define a universal truth.
>>
>>1669419
Ahmadiyyas are much more like Mormons, meaning they claim to be Muslims while hugely deviating from what is considered mainstream Islam.

Bahais aren't Muslims and never pretended to be ones. They are separate monotheistic religion. Their relationship with Islam is much like Islam's relationship with Christianity. Meaning, they claim to be completely new revelation while acknowledging the revelations given to Muhammad.

As many of you know, Portugal had a slightly different approach to its colonies when compared to other European powers, treating its natives better than the vast majority of other colonizing nations of the 19th and 20th century.

Was the independence of the Portuguese colonies inevitable? Would NATO backing save Portugal from having to give up Goa and Macao to India and China respectively? How would each colony look like if they were never decolonized?

Yeah that was where I stopped watching, I'm so sick of this PC shit now twisting history for the sake of politics.

Slavery was literally an afterthought for both sides, but the North (which didn't give a shit about salves at first) decided to ride the issue to the "moral highground". The war was fought over the states' rights to own slaves.

I agree with you there. But what I'm asking is does the bullshit spread into the information about the battles and war?

Motives can be argued and twisted, but the facts of battle can't be skewed that badly, can they?

Anime and a visit to Japan made me curious about this phenomenon.

Why did the Japs decide to make new religions? Going through the wiki page on these movements, they seem to have alot of members.

While to a certain extent that seems a bit Frightening since I know nothing about these organizations, and all I know about new modern religions is that they are either cults or new agey bullcrap, on the other hand, I am really interested as to why these Japanese ones exist.

Are they just "life philosophy sort of religions"? Do the Japs like this development?

Most people's exposure to the Roman Empire is the late Republic and early Empire and when they find out it wasn't always that way they get a bit weirded out.

The idea of a Christian Rome also bugs some people a lot more than it should. I've seen the "Byzantine Empire wasn't really Roman" attitude even extend to "the late western Empire wasn't really Roman". (thanks, Gibbon)

Religions say hell is a place of fire and brimstone (sulfur). It just so happens that life at the bottom of the animal evolutionary cycle lives around sulfur spewing volcanoes at the bottom of the ocean miles below the surface.

The photograph above is of hell. The hell described in the Bible is a real place on earth.

It is the most hostile environment where animal life is found on earth. If you go to the bottom of the evolutionary cycle, the beginning of the cycle, you go to a place like the place described as hell. A coincidence?

Most of the popular descriptions...

The vents are called black smokers, because they spew black, sulfur-filled, super-heated water. A few feet from the vents, the water is freezing cold. It is totally dark, as black as ink. No light reaches that depth of water.

The Koran actually describes hell as a place with boiling water and freezing cold water. Do you know of any other place on Earth that has life and those exact conditions? There is no other place like it. It is the hell described by religions.

Many descriptions of hell mention worms. Giant blood-red tubeworms eat the bacteria that live around the volcanic vents. The bacteria actually live in the worm’s gut, in the belly of the beast, in a symbiotic relationship with the worm.

Giant Blood Red Tubeworms

The blood-red tubeworms pictured above grow up to nine feet long and can be over two hundred years old. These animals live in total darkness, miles beneath the surface of the ocean. Even the color is exactly the color of the mythical devil.

Because they stopped being "The Mongols" and started being this, that and the other Khanate. A few centuries later, Timur styled himself the heir to Genghis Khan, and went on a conquering spree, but his army was little different from Persian armies before or after in composition, and he held court like a Persian Shah.

I hate to use a video game comparison, but it's too perfect: They got culture-flipped.
