Yes that they built megaliths.

Great reasonably current well narrated well sourced book on the subject.

Short answer: yes
>>
>>1622498

Yes quite a lot, we've found their houses, we've found their trash pits, we've found their fields and their domesticated animals, we've found their tools and weapons. Only a couple of neolithic societies had writing so we'll never know lots of stuff about them, but we certainly know a great deal more than you might initially think possible.

The world is scary. People with tough constitution can face the intricacies and ambiguities of the world. Weakling cant.

These weaklings spin many moral systems to ease their perspective on the world. This creates what Kant called a "space of reasons", which are explanations for why things are the way they are. You honor your mother and father because you now have reason to after this invention, which helps shield against how scary the world is.

Christianity is a myth with tons of effort put into making these reasons really convincing. However they ultimately...

Meet Lee Archer, the only black flying ace. His obituaries mention an Air Force investigation that confirmed a 4.5/5th kill (fatally disabling a German aircraft). It doesn't seem anywhere to be found, however, and as it directly contradicts the two researchers - (both old white men from the South, for what it's worth (it's worth a lot)) who claim to have gone back into official records to disabuse us of the notion that the 5th kill exists - and in so doing informs a good number of articles about the dude, it's kind of important. Rome because ROMAN empire.
Tetrarchy meant four capitals (Milan, Trier, Sirmium, Nicomedia).
Constantine wanted to have a single one, but more central and more defensible than Rome, so he chose Byzantium, already a basically impregnable site due to geography and centuries of fortifications.
Ravenna because Milan had become too exposed to barbarian attack, so they chose a more defensible site while fortifying Rome.
Syracuse because Constans II wanted to move the capital back to Italy for symbolism, but Rome...

Rome was too far from the Rhine-Danube frontier. Milan was closer to the frontier while still being located behind the Alps. Trier, Belgrade, and Nikomedia were located directly next to the frontiers. Ravenna was located next to the sea for easy access to reinforcements and was surrounded by swamps.Constantinople was easily defensible and was located on an important trade route. Syracuse was far from the frontier and was more adequate as a capital than Rome.

I like to think our warfare has reached a new level of secrecy and espionage.

That being if there is a war it would be almost totally economic, with enemies of the state plotting the execution of the whole state. (taking out the leadership).

Technological advancements has happened at such a rate we can really not know what the next 'big' war will be that, that being a war featuring the big powers of the world.

I know how ever if I had all this technology at my fingertips, it makes it A LOT easier to target the leaders solely, much more effectively...

Would a victory for the Germans in the first battle of the Marne meant a successful implementation of the Schlieffen plan and therefore a quick win for the Germans?
15 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>1620656
No. The Schlieffen plan required for an extra division to be placed to an already overstuffed road making it logistically impossible.
>>
>>1620661
Yeah that unused extra division was to take the longest path all the way around from the very North - It only really prevented them from taking Paris requiring them to move south and try to crush the Entente's army. Although a victory at the Marne I don't think would've demolished the army, it would have 1. prevented/stalled the emergence of trench warfare (something in which the German's were doomed too lose over a long period of time) 2. Destabilized and Demoralized the Entente's coalition...

>>
>>1620656

Well, considering that the Marne's approach was already deviating from the Schlieffen plan considerably, no, it would not mean a successful implementation of the Schlieffen plan.

That being said, a major German victory (although I have no idea how you'd pull one off) would really mangle France and might lead to the fall of Paris, which would probably be the deathblow, and thus a quick win for Germany in WW1.

Today's Arab armies are useless because they're designed to be useless - competent military leaders get sacked lest they become too popular and stage a coup, each section of the military works in opposition to each other section, again as an anti-coup measure, and each country has 5+ intelligence services which devote their time to spying on one another rather than on external enemies. Also, most have top-down command structures which don't reward initiative, e.g. in the 1973 war Sadat basically running...

Why did fascists like this play so much? Or at least the protagonist? The guy was an anti-democracy militarist, sure, but he absolutely loathed public recognition and populism (so much that he only sought power because his mother pressured him, he himself didn't want it because it would give him the spotlight), he was more of a reactionary than a fascist. What if the US had lost the Mexican-American war from 1847?

The Southern rebellion was largely the outgrowth of the Mexican war. Nations, like individuals, are punished for their transgressions. We got our punishment in the most sanguinary and expensive war of modern times. - General U. S. Grant

One of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation. It was an instance of a republic following the bad example of European monarchies, in not considering justice in their desire to acquire additional territory. - General U. S. Grant

The only way America loses the war is if you go back decades before it started and somehow manage to get Mexico to unfuck its shit.

You're better off either preventing the war happening to begin with, or end it as soon as possible with little public support from American citizens. Somehow prevent the idea of Manifest Destiny from kicking off.
