Will the christians on this board ever come together and do something for the betterment of the world? To show how good of an example a christian shitposter is?
did you see this on /tv/ too?
Anyway doesn't the Catholic church provide literally billions of dollars in material aid to Africa yearly? As well as operating things like schools, orphanages & hospitals which provide invaluable services? Someone probably knows the exact figures.
Christians how do you reconcile the fact that God made many proto human monkeys with consciousness?
Some of which didn't even contribute to our dna
One explanation I've heard is that the story of genesis is a metaphor for rising consciousness in hominids until "The Fall", where we understand good and evil. This explanation doesn't really explain why its humanity's fault though or why is considered an original sin. If anything it was God's plan.
Is it truly reliable, or is uniformitarianism a crock of shit?
Man if you were gonna whine about computational modeling of some shit maybe but uniformitarianism? Yes, really, rocks are real and stay where they're put with some famous exceptions.
China was ahead in 1000, but Western Europe has been ahead since at least the 1500's (in terms of GDP per capita).
What marked the beginning of the great divergence?
China has been culturally stagnant for about two millennia, while the West has been developing exponentially since the 10th century. By the 1300s it was already ahead of everyone else in science and technology for example.
If you think this is a relevant historical document you have no critical thinking skills.
It's an incredibly historically relevant book, unless you think a book which shaped our history is historically irrelevant?
The word you were looking for was accuracy, you were looking for accuracy.
But it is, and for all sorts of non-theological reasons. For instance, the Bible is one of the few sources for Philistine words; because of it, we can know with reasonable certainty that they were Indo-European, given that their names are a mix of IE and Semetic words.
Is Free Will an Illusion?
Free Will is a manmade concept, like time. It creates a comforting category of which to attribute human behavior. And in a world of deterministic physics, it all never mattered and we are subjects to the whims of probability and the initial conditions.
>be an upset with British rule
>decide to engage in light banter
>call them names and throw fluffy snowballs at them
>they shoot you
Never forget british war crimes.
> the unconscious cruelty, the persistence, the slow yet efficient intelligence, the sexual apathy, the calculating taciturnity
>Be redcoat in Boston
>Need more taxes cause we gotta defend the colonies
>Stupid fucktards chimp out at us for doing our job
>Throw shit at us and abuse us
>John Adams later defends me in court
>DEY WUZ GOOD COLONISTS. DEY NEVER HURT NO ONE
>refuses to give colonists representation in parliament
>unlawfully shuts down colonial governments and installs impotent yes men to rule in the kings name
>allows British soldiers to escape trial in the colonies despite the fact that they received fair trials in the past
>ignoring the sacred right of private property and letting soldiers steal from loyal servants of the crown
The British Empire is history's greatest meme. I'm glad it's...

Tell me about the Second Congo War /his/
Was it really an 'African World War'?
Well it was certainly a clusterfuck of major proportions.
I think it cemented the still tribal nature of Africa. Rwanda is a descriptive state. It has a very large population made almost entirely from a single ethnic group. This gave them a huge advantage over the Congolese. The rebellions in eastern Congo were ethnic based, and though other states joined based on ideology, it's whole basis was ethnic.
Best comparison I've ever heard was with the 30 Years War
Just a big, gruesome, pointless, clusterfuck of rape, torture, massacres, famine, disease, religious fanaticism, ethnic hatred, profiteering, and power mad strongmen
Were the Sumerians related to Indo-European Caucasians? We know their language has no relation to Semitic ones, so who were they? What did they look like? Racially/ethnically, did they resemble Caucasians/Caucasoids?
They are known as the "black headed people" afaik, so I'd say its a safe bet to say that they weren't blonde, at least.
Their languag ealso has no relation to indo-european ones, it's generally consired a language isolate, but I think there are some lexical matches between sumerian and Hurro-Uratian languages.
Personal guess based purely on speculation is they'd look something like pic related, but dont tell the chechens as they're awful enough as it is.
I know literally nothing apart from it seceded from Nigeria.
Was colonialism and slavery really necessary for the Industrial Revolution? Could Europe industrialize without them?
>Luther, that disaster of a monk, restored the Church and, what was a thousand times worse, Christianity, at the moment when it lay defeated...Christianity, that denial of the will to life become religion!...Luther, an impossible monk who, for reasons of “impossibility,” attacked the Church and — consequently! Restored it...The Catholics would have good reason to celebrate Luther feasts, to write Luther plays...Luther — and the “moral rebirth!”
>...they also have on their conscience the uncleanest kind of Christianity there is, the most incurable, the most irrefutable: Protestantism ... If we are not finished with Christianity, the Germans will be to blame ...
What did he mean by this?
I view life in a detached way. By life I mean living organisms. On Earth strands of protein give rise to living organisms like on Jupiter anticyclonic storms give rise to great red spots. Life is simply a phenomenon like weather. There is no abstract reason for it.
Like local weather is shaped by complex weather systems our emotions and thoughts are just as mechanical.
Let's talk about Easter Island, /his/.
Can someone explain me why the Arab nation identifies itself with the middle moon? Any historical fonts will be welcome.
/tg/ here. What were some of the major trade items between Britain and China going through the British East India Company during the early to mid 1600s? I need it for a game.
We know that ghosts did not exist, then why do we still fear them ? In a subconscious way. Like feared of staying overnight in an abandoned house, cemetery or the woods ?
Why didn't the Allies attack literally anywhere else but Normandy or Calais?
Everywhere else had minimal fortifications. Even if surprise was lost attacking the western coast of France, it would take awhile to bring in anything more than the immediate reserves.
Was getting paratroopers there the primary limitation?
It would have been infinitely easier from a logistics perspective, and the masterful deception tactics used in the leadup to the landings negated much of the advantage the Germans had in terms of fortifications.
Vikings were dog shit
>hurr le ebin raids
yeah killing unarmed people is such an achievement
why are scandinavians such fucking niggers? They even lived in straw huts.
If the Aboriginals colonized the Americas before the Siberians did, would the colonization of Europeans have failed?
You are mistaking because you do not take into consideration the million of possible scenarios that could have happened. Idiot.
The Indians lost because of diseases not because of technology, see 1491 and 1493.
Aboriginals have a highly effective fire regime which could have changed the Americas. See the book "the biggest estate on earth".
>the US army managed to LOSE a battle against Germany
>in fucking early-1945
Is there any scenario possible in which Britain or France helps a side directly in the US Civil War?
In fact, why wouldn't they? If Britain supported the South they'd cut one of their main competitors in half and get a loyal trade partner and maybe even some northern territory out of it.
Why would they?
>If Britain supported the South they'd cut one of their main competitors in half and get a loyal trade partner and maybe even some northern territory out of it.
Or maybe they won't.
Do you think major geopolitical decisions are made based simply on what the best possible outcomes could possibly be? Are you Adolf Hitler?
brits outlawed slavery universally around 1800
its why the south/america exists at all really, nth came in line to pax anglo, why would britain ever support the south?
american historys worse then australian
Tell me about this shitfest /his/. I can't wrap my head around it. Also any information between 1490-1520's Europe would be a great help.
Knew I had this somewhere.
It hilariously shows that France and Venice were in the right.
Were did it all go wrong?
Why do antisemites still insist on criticising Israel defending itself from genocide even after 11 million were killed in the holocaust?
>Some definitions of the Holocaust include the additional five million non-Jewish victims of Nazi mass murders, bringing the total to about 11 million.
Are you memeing? 6 million Jews were killed.
What historical figure lived the most interesting life?
>he doesn't venerate Mary
Was the Victorian era even real??
Let's have a Germania thread /his/,
dump pics, share any interesting facts you know, clear up misconceptions and myths, and ask any questions you have about these mysterious people.
I'll start with a couple of questions. What are sources are there other then tacitus? which are the most detailed? And why does there seem to be a big difference between bronze age germanic people and iron age? It seems that they declined in technology, wealth and sophistication. I know that trade routes with central europe broke down and that this is where they imported all their...

If only like 2% of Americans owned slaves, and assuming the south wasn't the only place, even if the majority was there, why do people say the South's economy was based on slavery?
Were cotton farms like today's megacorps or something?
>were cotton farms like today's megacorps?
Yes except even more ingrained in society and the economy. Keep in mind those 6% of southern white slave holders made up majorities in all southern legislatures. They controlled the south.
"King Cotton" wasn't a meme.
Remember the 3/5ths compromise? People were quick to point out that enslaved people didn't count as "people" in terms of voter representation, and that pissed off the Southerns who'd lose political power. So, they wanted representation, giving their states more political power. The North was like "so they're subhuman sometimes?"
These kinds of political shenanigans are everywhere in the history of the American South
