It has to do with the fact French are superior in every way. France is possibly the most aesthetic country in earth, it helps that they were very populous during most of history thus have a lot of towns. It also had a lot of cultures under its borders which lead to a great deal of diversity in aesthetics.

>Libertarian Democratic Marxism

You could have just stopped at Libertarian. It's only in America where that means "Right"-Libertarianism. In every other nation, 'Libertarian' refers to Anarchism/Anarchist. Which, generally, contains all three things you listed above.
>>
>>1977489
There's a pretty big split in libertarianism if you consider property a natural right or a tool for oppression. A lot of intellectuals listed property as a basic natural right, alongside with life and liberty.

I mean, back when you had aristocracy and shit, the answer was the same for both sides. Give property rights to everyone so people can stop being oppressed by people with property. It's clear that every having property rights is more libertarian than only some people having property rights....

When do you think we'll see the rise of a new major religion? I'm not talking about some fringe cults here or there, but instead, something completely new and dramatic that will begin spreading rapidly, with a good prognosis for 'major religion' status.

What traits do you think would be required for such a belief system to grow rapidly in today's world?

When people criticise the Abrahamic religions, they often bring up supposed inconsistencies within their scripture. One that comes to mind is the way God's character seems to change when comparing the Old and New Testament.

But do any inconsistencies within a school of Buddhism exist? Since I'm more familiar with Theravada, let's use the Pāli Canon for example. I've read a good but of Theravada suttas, and I'm unaware of any inconsistencies that exist in the Canon. I don't believe I've ever seen an example where one of the teachings...

ITT famous fetishists/deviants of history.

Sultan Ibrahim I, known as "Ibrahim the Mad," was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1615 to 1648; however, he really only ruled in name. His mother and vizier were the ones mostly in charge, because Ibrahim himself was totally fucking crazy.

In particular, the man had a strong weakness for fat women. He sent out a search across the entire empire for the fattest woman he could find. This wound up being a 300+ pound Armenian lass; Ibrahim loved her so much he made her a governor.

Are aircraft carriers the new battleships? As in, the big waste of money that nowhere near pays for its cost in actual wars?

Nimitz class carriers the US operates cost about 4.5 billion each with amortized engineering and design costs. The new classes of carriers coming out cost about 6.2 billion each because of new features designed in.
That does not include the air wing (65-75 aircraft and related support equipment and parts), which would add another few billion.

So far we have only paid for the hardware.

Fortunately the fuel is not a recurring cost....

So considering everything my guess is an initial cost of 10 billion (and I didn't count the cost of the CSG ships) and an annual operating cost of 2-4 billion (entire CSG).

And ultimately there will be nuclear refueling at several hundred million every 15 years and nuclear decommissioning at about a billion at the end of life (40 years?)

And it only has offensive capabilities (you have airports when defending), and isn't as effective as missiles and anti-missile bases near the enemy you wish to attack.

Now I'm gonna be blunt. The biggest problem I have with Christianity is original sin, and here's why. The suppositions made here are based on Catholic dogma btw, since it is generally speaking the most liberal in terms of accepting evolution and modern biology.

Prior to original sin we know that a number of restrictions that God has since placed upon humanity did not exist. First and foremost, we didn't age. Now, where did all the shit go? Surely we digested food, surely we absorbed nutrients and excreted waste; we know Adam and Eve ate from the trees...

Now also, since we lived forever, there is the problem of the sun. The sun is expanding. We can verify this. All stars expand and ultimately undergo deaths either via supernovas, black holes, etc.

Can someone explain to me the idea of people desiring political power? I can say I do not understand the want for this in the slightest.

Is it because you think you are best to make societal decisions(highly likely)? There doesn't seem to be any upside to me. In House of Cards Frank winds up working on education bills and trade tariffs. Sounds terrible to me.

To me it must be some psychological thing. Could it be argued these people feel inadequate?

For me it's this. But maybe subconsciously I feel inadequate? Who knows.

It's just a character trait, some people get off on ordering others around and having their names out there. You have to admit it would fell good saying something and millions having to obey

Ultimately in western democracy, the answer is that it's a sort of status symbol within a sub-culture of society's movers and shakers.
This is why politicians will attack 'the other side' in an attempt to seize power, but not actually change anything when elected to office.
See it as this; the elite affiliate with a political party to achieve their means. Within the political party there is a heirachy, those on top have the most power and are therefore sought out as being most desirable to deal with. Ergo, it's best for you if you're on top,...

In what system does the state and those in powerful position (big companies, media) have the biggest incentive to have a well informed populations?

It is clear that in the current democratic and capitalist system the interest of political parties is not to create people with no critical thinking skills or at the very least, they have no incentive to do the opposite and are happy with people parroting whatever narratives they preach.

Why did the italians got off so easy after WWII?
Their leaders and soldiers did plenty of evil shit, and their commoners allowed or supported it. They even fucking lynched Mussolini and his family.

How come the germans get all the blame and the italians dindu nuffin?

Because differently from Germany and Japan there was a strong revolutionary movement, and at one point Mussolini even lost his power, all this before the end of the war (he managed to escape and to try something later, but that was it). By the end of the war Italy didn't count as an enemy anymore (a weird position in between, but we managed to avoid getting buttfucked like Germany).

>They even fucking lynched Mussolini and his family.

So? If the Germans had lynched Hitler...

Seeing as they overthrew Mussolini, it was seen as the reason why Italy joined the war was because of Fascist party and Mussolini's ambition. If July plot succeeded, it might have saved Germany.

Italians are master negotiators and know what side to be on at what moment.

The only bad thing about Romanticism is that it can cause people who take it a little too seriously to become edgy reactionaries who feel they need things to be the way they were because there was some nice poetry or novel describing a better age.
