What could hitler and the germans have done diffrently that could have made them win the war or at least made the allies sue for peace ?
Know when to quit. Settle for something like the Sudetenland, Danzig, and Alsace-Lorraine, establish new and genuinely independent governments with troop restrictions in conquered territory. Offer a peace Britain can accept and peace out.
Problem was that Nazi ideology wasn't about revising Versailles, but about genociding/enslaving eastern europe and dominating western europe. No one else would accept that, so they got dragged into unwinnable war after war.
One small mistake during the russian invasion. Thats literally it. Forgot the details. Some tank batallion sent to the wrong front, somewhere in the south. Hitler gave the order.
Our biggest problem, at least the one we personally made, was that we attacked russia in winter without being suited for it in any way. Our gear was literally made to look good, not to be functioning well
Another big proble we had was italy chickening out on us and crawling the allies up their ass. That led us to have to fight 3 fronts which fucked us over in the end
That's a bullshit myth bro.
In fact, given how Red Army was raped hard in 1941 in big part because their logistics were insanely shit, it's pretty clear they weren't preparing any offensive.
basically not leaving russia before winter set in.
russia's scorched earth shit would have crippled their economy hard and losing so many men from the german offense would have ensured they would have been nothing more than an average nuisance to the germans. If they had retreated before they got trapped and froze to death in the fucking droves, germany would still have a sizable army and be able to respond better to attacks that would happen further into the war
Really nothing. Germany's defeat can be attributed to a lack of resources. Unless Germany magically comes across an unlimited amount of oil and iron ore they could have won every single battle and still be overwhelmed by the allied war machine.
stop interfering with his generals esp. von Paulus
continue bombing the RAF instead of switching to civilian targets during the Battle of Britain
concentrated more on getting The Bomb
>alliance between NatSoc and Communism
>lasting for any appreciable length of time
>Not attack the USSR
>Not ally yourself with the shitty Italians who lost to Greeks & Ethiopians
>Listening to your Generals
Hitler should have stopped at Czechoslovakia and build Germany up from there
Not try to fight the biggest empire, the biggest land power, and the biggest economy at the same time. Hitler was a good gambler for much of his career, but a moron when it came to grand strategy.
>People dont believe hitler couldve won ww2, even in 1944
This pretty much. I do wonder if Hitler would have been able to make peace with Britain after the Battle of France if he'd asked to restore Germany's pre-WW1 borders or something rather than trying to annex everything.
Outside of that, if he wanted to achieve his historical goals, realistically nothing. He tried starving and bombing the UK out of the war but that didn't work. An invasion of Britain was unrealistic because of the strength of the Royal Navy and Air Force. Invading Russia seems like a mistake but the USSR would have almost certainly declared war on him later if he didn't invade. Declaring war on the USA seems like a non-issue to me since US involvement in the war in Europe was fairly insignificant compared to the UK until Operation Overlord, by which time the war was already lost for Hitler. There are potentially different decisions which could have been made in the eastern front such as not leaving the entire 6th army to surrender in Stalingrad, but I personally feel like the war was already lost when the German armed forced failed to reach Moscow by winter 1941, since a war of attrition in Russia against the Red Army doesn't seem like something any country could ever hope to win.
Realistically speaking, war with the USSR and the Third Reich was inevitable. Both only signed the pact of steel to buy themselves time whilst they prepared to take out the other. It could be argued that Hitler should have invaded USSR even earlier, rather than go down and help Italy fight the Greeks.
