ITT: We post historical leaders who would have been ashamed of their countries if they saw them today
I don't think many people would be more ashamed than Alexander (if you consider his empire to be Greek rather than Macedonian - either way it became shit).
If we change leaders to just historical figures, I think Diogenes wouldn't be too upset.
We all like to think of Honest Abe as the great liberator and all that, but he hated blacks just as much as the next guy from the 1800s. He didn't want black equality. Really, the thinking back then among northerners was that if they allow newly formed states to adopt slavery, they'll be overrun with blacks just like how they viewed the south.
>“I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races. I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people. And I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will ever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. … And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”
Alexander engineered his empire's quick demise himself though. When he was on his death bed, he was asked who would be named his successor. he simply said "to the strongest"
This led to all his generals infighting and his empire quickly broke up into smaller states.
>PLEASE DO NOT MAKE /his/ INTO /pol/ V.2
Perhaps try not posting /po/2.0-tier threads. The course of history is typically progressive (not in the /pol/ sense). Any leader of a 17th century nation would be appalled at the excesses of 21st century life. You would have to have a very peculiar set of circumstances to change this.
This /pol/ boogeyman fear-mongering needs to fucking stop.
Literally every fucking thread I've seen on this board so far has had at least some level of "OMG /POL/ PLEASE GO!!!" bullshit in it. Not every part of history is politically correct. You need to fucking deal with this or fuck off and go to /lit/ to discussion philosophical shit.
As for this thread in particular, you're just setting it up to be "/pol/-like". Every historical leader would probably view the modern day as being in control by a bunch of stinky degenerates
He hated Germany while alive. Imagine what he'd think if he could see it today.
