>>877700 Some of them get famous for being inventive and creative and stagnate, he just jumped to the top for being the "guy next door". He is literally the type of guy I go for, but he claims to be straight even though he often gives the impression that he's not
>>877706 >guy next door Whenever I'm talking about him, this is literally the exact phrase I use. He is the personification of the the "boy next door" trope.
And he hangs out with Tyler Oakley and Troye Sivan (two of YouTube's biggest flamers (pic related)) more than he hangs out with the guys on his collab channel, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was gay. He mentioned that his parents were religious enough to send him to a private ultra-Christian school when he was a kid, so maybe they're the reason that he hasn't come out yet.
>>877861 Everyone I know thinks he's gay too. He mentioned that he's only had ~3 girlfriends and given that he looks like that, the number seems rather low. He also said he hasnt been "in love" before, just adding to the suspicion.... we might be right, you know...
>>880262 I just think he tries to hard with the "I'm gay, witness the stereotype". But I dont think I'm creeped out by him
>>880200 This describes it perfectly > >>880254 But maybe "guy next door" isn't the right wording. But I suppose I use it in the sense that he is close enough to gaze at, but not close enough to touch... I think..?
>>880322 >>880352 >>880372 "Guy next door" isn't necessarily about appearance, it's also a personality trait. Down-to-earth, easily to relate to, warm and compassionate, masculine without being "macho"
>>880490
I would kill for a tape of that threesome
>>880590 you're probably right. and he appears to fill all of the criteria, hence my "perfect specimen" comment. I can just imagine spending hours snuggling on the sofa watching terrible movies and eating popcorn. bliss.
>>880698 hmm.. not sure if I'd watch a threesome. much as I like tyler, he'd demand all of the attention. troye doesnt have the presence to counter it, and connor is too reserved to butt in.
troye and connor however, sign me up, sign me up, and sign me up again
>>880925 I have this theory that they're intentionally playing up "Troyler" (the idea of Troye and Tyler as a couple - like Brangelina) as a red herring to cover the fact that either Connor and Tyler or Connor and Troye are secretly a couple, and Connor isn't ready to come out yet.
Troye literally said in a Q&A once that he thinks Connor is husband material.
>>881088 Thats actually a really interesting theory. And it makes so much sense. By having the Troyler thing as a massive distraction, Connor and one of them can keep on the down low.
However, I really cant see Connor/Troye or Connor/Tyler being a thing. Neither of them seem to be Connor's type (well.. that's what I think anyway).
But Connor must be at least bi, but he's denied it for so long that it wouldnt be unlikely that he'll deny it forever. Can you imagine him actually coming out though? So many of his female followers would fuck off and find another YouTuber to lust over. His income would drop like a stone, and I dont think a newfound confirmed-gay following would be able to make up the difference. Your thoughts?
>>881204 >So many of his female followers would fuck off and find another YouTuber to lust over. I'm not so sure. A lot of girls think guy-on-guy is hot the same way a lot of straight dudes think lesbians are hot. It certainly didn't seem to hurt Tyler or Troye's careers.
>>881204 >he's denied it for so long that it wouldnt be unlikely that he'll deny it forever If you go back in the thread, you'll see a post where I mentioned that his parents sent him to an ultra-Christian private school when he was a kid, meaning they're very likely huge bible thumpers. There are two possibilities I can gather from that: >he doesn't want to come out publicly because he knows his parents watch his videos, and he's not ready for them to know he's gay/bi >his parents already know, but are threatening to disown him if he comes out publicly
>Neither of them seem to be Connor's type I think you're half right. As someone who's already open and out and a little bit older, I think Tyler is more of a mentor to Connor. Troye though, I can see as the little spoon to Connor's big spoon
pic semi related, this is a screenshot from someone's vlog over the past few days
>>881224 I suppose you are right. I didn't really think about the teen female infatuation with gays (like Tyler... which didn't even cross my mind even though I mentioned him later).
I reckon it will be the former. Maybe he isn't out at all though? We speculate the Connor/Troye relationship, but could it be plausible that he isn't with anyone in the YouTube scene (or anyone at all) for fear of being caught out. I'm still closeted myself, but I frequently give off "signals", like the picture you posted, with my crushes all the time.
I just can't see it though. They don't look like they'd match. And you must remember, Troye is home-schooled and (I know this is EXTREMELY derivative) is likely not to be very clever. Given that Connor did start College, I doubt he'd want to be in a relationship that wouldn't provide any mental stimulation. Granted this is entirely formulated from my own interpretations, but I don't believe they'd be that far wrong.
>>881227 The reason Troye is homeschooled is because he's actually got a fairly steady acting career. He plays the lead character in the film adaptation of a South African young adult series called Spud.
And yeah, it's possible that he's single. But at the same time, I can't see him NOT being out to Troye and Tyler, if nobody else. Gays are very good at covering for each other because we all remember what it was like to be in that position.
>>881238 I dubious that Troye is particularly bright. He's always struck me as the "dumb one" of the collective. I may be wrong, I've never met the guy, but from my observer's perspective, thats what I reckon.
You do have a point there, but what if he isn't "out to himself" as it were. Maybe he doesn't believe that he is/wants to be. There's a strong air of the Tom Daley story here... and look how that turned out. But yes, if he's out on any level, I suspect it would be at least to Tyler.
He probably is single though. Consider, massive YouTube and Twitter following, a relationship of any kind would be such good PR for him. So for nothing to even be around or hearsay, I highly doubt any shenanigans to be present.
>>881249 I think we're both projecting a bit here. You're still in the closet, so you see Connor as closeted as possible, and I'm out, so I see Connor as just short of announcing it to the world. (And I've got a massive crush on Troye, so I'm biased when it comes to debating his intelligence)
Here's a screenshot of an interview with Ben Cook, who did a documentary series on Youtubers a while back. I know it talks specifically about UK Youtubers, but it establishes that there's a precedence for them being out to each other, but not to their audience.
(P.S. Maybe it's just me projecting again, but I like to think that Jack Harries is bi)
>>881255 Surely they are two sides of the same coin, a coin that we happen to be discussing from different perspectives. Because, from my position, I reckon he is really deep in the closet (assuming we neglect the potential that he is indeed straight), and, from your position I think, he is in the closet but not far from an escape.
>And I've got a massive crush on Troye Damn crushes, diverting our attention from other things. I briefly had a thing for Troye, prior to Connor, but now I'm a solely Franta-fancier.
That was a very interesting read, and it actually makes a lot of sense. Tyler, as an example, has settled really well into the gay rolemodel position, especially with the activism and charity work. But to take on that kind of pressure would be a bit of a nightmare initially; one wouldn't know what to do. So, assuming Connor is gay and the religious parents concept isnt affecting him, then maybe it is as the Ben Cook comments suggest, he just doesn't want all closeted eyes staring at him.
Talking about Jack, nearly no question. From day one, I have doubted his straightness. I recall seeing once that he said he was bi as a joke, but I dont actually think it was. Potentially testing the waters for a reaction, and how his fanbase would react if it were true. Sidenote, however, his hair at the moment really really turns me off. I just looks... too messy.
>>881259 >Surely they are two sides of the same coin, a coin that we happen to be discussing from different perspectives. Because, from my position, I reckon he is really deep in the closet (assuming we neglect the potential that he is indeed straight), and, from your position I think, he is in the closet but not far from an escape. You understand me exactly!
>Crushes In order, my Youtube crushes are Troye, Kian Lawley, JC Caylen, Jack, and then his brother Finn
>Jack's sexuality I think he had a friends-with-benefits thing with Sam Pepper back in autumn 2012. Things went south, and that's why Sam was exiled from "The British Crew"
>>881260 >You understand me exactly! Indeed. You are quite clear with your points.
>Crushes Also in order, Connor, Jack, Dan Howell (sorta), Finn, Troye and mayybbe Kian. Kian is a bit of a wildcard in my book. I find him rather attractive, but his complexion is really damn poor which puts me off a lot. I imagine it would be a brief fuckbuddy relationship, but nothing more.
wow. Sam Pepper is really not as attractive as I expected from Jack. Do you have any other information on this thing? I cant seem to find much from my brief googlefu.
Isnt that Connor's thing? The whole hands towards the camera? Well, not Connor's thing as though he invented it, but it seems very much like an imitation. But I still sorta wish Kian was gay too :P
>>881269 >Crushes Nope, 100% talking about Kian. I stopped watching his videos in 1080p because of it (god, I am such a diva). Its not terrible, maybe I exaggerated too much, but it isn't silky smooth like Connor's and Troye's. Its something that really matters to me, and if the criterion isn't met, then I probably would never pursue (I use "probably" because closet).
>Jack and Sam There are little bits and pieces that I remember from back in the day, but I thought Jack wouldn't be punching so far below his weight. I just imagine Jack getting with an equally hot guy.
>Hands I suppose I get it from a pseudo-scientific standpoint. When anxious, people tend to hide their hands and draw them towards the body. So conversely, when they are comfortable, their hands are more exposed etc. (Obviously this has basically no true scientific basis)
>Dan See, I dont like curly hair at all. I have hair very similar to his in terms of reaction to water, so I have to straighten it or have it short. I just prefer it to be neat and in order, and I like that in a guy too
>>881751 His 'career' is over, he could have been great if he'd stuck with acting but now he just gets money for pleasing stupid people which he can't do forever. Like Connor, he's going to lose his looks or lose his fame when the next big thing comes along and is going to have nothing to fall back on.
One thing I noticed in the vlogs was that Troye and Connor are almost always right beside each other, and in Marcus's recent Italy vlog it seems they shared a bed.
Troye has shared a bed with other male youtubers, so that isn't proof they are more than friends. Connor also doesn't seem to know the other youtubers as well: but Troye is close to some of the other youtubers so I don't see why he didn't hang with them as much.
>>886395 >Louis Cole Even if he did, why the fuck would Troye go for him (he's twice Troye's age, and ugly af. I like him as a person, but 3.5/10 would NOT bang) when he has perfect boy-next-door Connor?
Is it just me or in this video, right after Tyler gets his hand gets 'stuck' and he's screaming - does Conor go to hug Tyler in a romantic way but then pull away when he realised the cameras on them? 4:16 Just me? Just me? Just me.
>>886348 I wonder if Joey came out, how that would affect his popularity. Quite a number of young teenage girls seem to think he's straight and lust over him. So maybe if he came out, they wouldn't support him anymore and that's why he hasn't? Either way he needs to be my husbando.
>>893195 >Because we don't like balding, fat, hairy, old men? ??? what does this even have to do with anything? there are plenty of different types of guys besides that and average as fuck looking guys like this like honestly if I walked past this guy on the street I wouldn't give him a second glance he's literally so fucking average
>>877077 This fucking thread man! If you faggots want to look at some nobody's twitter pictures then go follow him on fucking twitter! This is a porn board so until he does a jerk off video or gets he cock out, shut the fuck up!
if/when Joey comes out (and I do think it's coming. He's began talking about going to therapy in his videos, and has become friends with Will (of shep689) and hangs out with Will&RJ a bit. I think he's feeling things out, and a big 'coming out' video is in the near future. For the most part, I believe him coming out would expose a lot of closeted youtubers, like Sawyer Hartman, so again... he's feeling things out.) I think he will blow up even bigger. I mean aside from his looks, a very big reason why he blew up in the first place was his appearance on The Amazing Race, which actually has a large gay following. When Joey finally comes out, Tyler should just pack it in, imo. Because Joey will become the defacto 'gay youtuber kewwn' etc, etc. Tyler is probably hoping and praying Joey never comes out publicly. X-D
Connor strikes me as one of those guys that suddenly realizes how much dumber they are than they previously thought and is insecure about it. You can see this a lot when he's in other peoples vlogs. He seems almost lost and standoffish.
>>910385 >closeted youtubers, like Sawyer Hartman you think? he's always just struck me as an straight opportunistic douche who knows that hanging out with the gays and pandering to them will help him get ahead in his "career"
>>910387 He seems more reserved to me than standoffish. Hes a lot quieter and more discrete when hes not filming his own videos, but hes never stuck me as insecure or lost.
I couldn't say anything about his intelligence. His videos aren't particularly insightful, but thats not really their purpose. Hes smart enough to know how to appeal to his target audience. Otherwise he strikes me as pretty ordinary, but not dumb.
>>910872 Troye's popularity skyrocketed far more when he latched onto Tyler's gay crowd. But as it stood, his music/acting career was key in his success.
>>910870 I agree. He plays up a part of him that usually doesn't appear much (ie. his dramatic excitable side). He seems far more down-to-earth when he's doing most collabs. As for his intellect, there is much to be debated. He did start studying Business at college, which does suggest at least some intelligence. Whether he is especially bright, however... let's just say I'm doubtful.
yeah, maybe reserved is right? He still comes off as insecure, tho. Whether he is or isn't. I don't think Joey i particularly intelligent himself... but he's certainly not lacking in self-confidence, which sort of overshadows everything.
tbh, I think it's the other way around? Tyler saw him on the come up, and decided instead of beating him, why not let him join the club. Tyler always latches on to whomever is gaining popularity, whenever possible. He's doing it with the Brit crew and esp. Zoella, rn. It's fairly transparent, if you pay attention. imo, the only reason he hasn't latched on to Shane is because Shane wasn't having it, otherwise Tyler would be all over Shane's ass. LOL
Joey knows exactly what he was doing he knows its fan girls are his biggest audience so why ruin it for them But now that his channel is that big I think he's at the stage where he's really considering it
what a load of malarkey... Joey and Tyler are both very good friends off camera. They almost never interact regularly ON camera because they don't care to, but also because they are both huge on yt and there is thought to be a big rivalry between them and they want to perpetuate that. LOL Anyway, from what I've heard, Tyler plays 'babysitter' to Joey's boyfriends. Apparently, Tyler did this with one of Joey's last bfs (thecamcamera) and he's now doing it with Connor? That's what I'm hearing - that Connor and Joey are dating bts, and they have been since a few months before the innuendo bingo video. No idea if this is true... but apparently, one of the reasons why Joey moved is to be closer to Connor. I've also heard that Connor is SERIOUSLY considering coming out, but feels like he can't because of O2L. The DRAMA!
>>912380 You must be meeting some pretty conservative girls then. The kind of girls who buy into these cute guy youtube channels will just as soon imagine them fucking each other as they would imagine themselves getting with them. I mean look at that troyler shit.
As much as I hate to say it - because it makes me sound like one of the lunatic One Direction fans that ship "Larry Stylinson" - they DO have a management now, and their management might not want them to come out because it would ruin the "All American Boy" image that they have. Which is bullshit because: a) Trevor and Ricky are both more flamboyant than Connor b) Tyler Oakley is openly gay, and he alone has more subscribers than the O2L channel.
Regardless of sexuality, doesn't this thread show how the people who make YouTube videos are expected to reveal every detail about their life? Even if they don't, people seem pick up on minute details from other videos, tweets, and their photos. I realise it's just the modern form of tabloid newspapers, but the level to which their actions are scrutinised and discussed is pretty frightening.
Though, if they are repressed or have fears about anything, I think they have gained a prominence which gives them a power to influence the culture of their viewers. As a non-obsessed observed, it's interesting to see what choices they make, like Tyler Oakley for his charity work. But I think only John Green makes interesting, somewhat intellectual content and the rest I don't really pay any attention to.. Having said that, I guess its intimidating to go from making videos in your bedroom to being an icon of sorts, and I wouldn't know how to deal with that.
Aside from that, Finn Harries is at the top of my list.
Yeah Connor does want to come out I'd imagine But you have to remember o2l's audience is just about all young girls and let's be honestly the guys been hot and straight but also nice is the reason for their success
If 3 were to come out as gay Connor, trewvor and Ricky then the channel would probably stop growing as much And I bet would eventually end and the guys would stick to their own channels
>>917432 With #weloveyouconnor trending on twitter and all his friends congratulating him; I really thought he had come out. Alas, he is just announcing he is leaving O2L. Well at least maybe he can be with his boy more.
aaaand so it begins. After everything cools off from this, expect a coming out video. He will more than likely be switching management as well, because you know they ain't keen on this. Thus begins the fall of a teen yt idol and the rise of a gay yt icon...
>>895957 can we just be fucking clear that that's a fagmonitor and not a gaydar flamer tracking system? GM and GFTS are completely different one measures category and magnitude while the other measures size, position, direction, and velocity they're COMPLETELY different.
I'm hearing rumors that he's leaving O2L because he came out to them and they don't like it. I think it might be true. They're all really close to him, so if any of them didn't accept him, it would definitely fuck up his emotions. Plus, some of the other guys on O2L (Ricky, Jc, and in-denial-homo Kian to be more specific) don't look very accepting of gays.
>>922677 Sauce on the rumours? Because Ricky is friends with Thatsojack and Lohanthony, and they're two of the biggest fucking faggots on the planet, not to mention that Ricky and Trevor's heterosexuality is somewhat dubious.
Kian and Jc aren't like Magcon. They're sweethearts.
it doesn't necessarily have to be that they're homophobic or have a problem with Connor being gay in general, but more specifically Connor's being gay + out might negatively impact their bottom line. They may all very well be happy for him on a personal level.
>>922891 I'd like to think that the younger generation has reached a critical mas where, by and large, they don't care what your sexual orientation is. Yes there would be a few teens raised in flyover states that object, but I don't think having a gay member would hurt them all that much overall
>>922891 >>922912 Having a gay member would blow their shit up (in a good way). It was a huge deal when Lucas/Fred came out and I'm going to guess most of O2Ls fans are girls and they would totally eat that shit up.
