>Drawing, then, is not the basis of art. Creation is the basis of art. There is in fact no correlation between one’s ability to draw the world as it is — to draw realistically — and art. In fact, I might go so far as to say they’re opposed! It’s a nifty skill, for sure, and not to be poo pooed at all. But the ability to draw a vase that looks like a vase is just not art. It’s copying. And art, by definition, doesn’t copy....

I agree with this. So many people get caught up in drawing "the best" what they're creating stops being art, stops being something that instills feelings & is telling a story.
That said having a handle of the fundamentals definitely makes your artwork easier to digest & understand for a wider audience.

Sup /ic/, I'm finally ready for a tablet. What's a good one that will last me for a long time. I have semi-large hands, so a small is out of the question for me.

Hand size and tablet size are irrelevant. You're using a stylus and your arm in the end. Regardless, that one and the previous version are good enough.
>>
>>2653269
I figured it would be considering the position I'd be in. Good to know, though.

Any other versions you'd recommend? This was just a days research and it seems like this one fits pretty well.
>>
>>2653272
It's usually if you've got enough dosh, you would just get the Intuos Medium Pro or else just get the regular small/medium. The latest are generally the best for their drivers too since their the most up to date and therefore won't suddenly die on you if it's an older version. Anyways, this one is good and has a paper like texture which will be easy to adapt to. The tip will degrade if you draw a lot like I did, but it's not a problem if you can shill out 7$ every now and then for 4 more. You get four in the beginning. There's a protector for the screen, but it changes the texture, so it's up to you whether or not you want it. All in all, this one is good. Although, there's one thing that might change your mind and it's the pen. The pen for this tablet is light like plastic, while the CTH-480 is more pen since it has weight. I don't know if that matters to you since it does for some people about how they draw, but yeah, if it does, get the CTL/H-480 if not get the 490.

It's an alright painting.

But you need to paint bigger if you'd like greater success. There's not enough room for experimentation and to accommodate for the size of your brush strokes.

There's a way OP.
DO NOT fall asleep on your birthday. You brain will technically be 24 yo UNTIL you get sleep. Grind as much as you can, ask your loved ones to keep an eye on you and grind like you'll never be able to learn again(you won't). Learn as much as you can because after falling asleep everything you'll ever have again is all you learned. Good luck.

You have options:

1. If you are Jewish this doesn't effect you until old age.
2. If you aren't Jewish go to the infowars store and buy some brain force. If you take this stuff often WHILE you are still 24 it should prolong your 24 year old brain for at least a couple more months. The good thing about brain force is that it should slow down the plasticity deterioration.
3. Find a mentor to teach you all the right things quickly.
4. Study really hard at age 25 like no man has studied before....

Where do you find inspiration to dress or armor characters?
I want to make a females warrior, I sketched the body, but I don't know how to dress her.
I couldn't rely on existing drawings /reference but I end relying too much on them.
I rely too much on references/existing work, even for gestures and anatomy.

Inspiration comes from everything really man. It's your visual library. It's almost impossible to say, but I usually think of easy adjectives like cool, cute, etc. Then just fit to that theme. It's more a feeling thing to me more so than an actual mechanical thinking.

Hey guys, I know it's not really the place for that kind of stuff. I was planning to go this year but I have to concentrate on my job, I'm selling a ticket if someone here is interested. Turning this thread in a THU thread so I don't feel like "promoting" or else.
Last year was super interesting with lots of good artists but this year looks weak, the speakers are mostly vfx/sci-fi/photobash artists and it's not at all my interest.

>Claire Wendling
She just draws and doesn't really do finished paintings or anything. She also is not very good at explaining technical things and relies on intuition and experience when she draws. You won't learn much.

Basically does a very slow demo where she has a ref on the side and copies it. Again you won't learn a ton.

Are you a purist that resist change, not wanting to photobash or use 3D? Everything needs to be painted by hand and that gives you the romantic feeling of being an artist?

Or are you the type that seeks to grow and transcend, you will use 3D, you will photobash, you steal ideas, you will cheat the shit out of art. Your art is superior but you will feel dirty.

Which one is you? And what is your opinion on each?

I feel like if i meet a fan of mine in the streets and asks me for a quick sketch or something that i should be able to produce
the quality that i do online or i wouldn't be able to call myself an artist, i don't condemn "quality of life" type of shortcuts like the occasional
texture brush but doing shit like tracing and painting over photos and 3D models for me kind of defeats the purpose.
