It's shilling season, /ic/. > new season premieres > new vidya > new waifus > new fanart communities > more page views and possible commissions What are you looking to capitalize on in 2016? Steven Universe is coming back so I need a few weeks worth of drawings to cash in by the time Stevenbomb rolls around.
>>2320736 not about the software you use but your graphics card/ram maybe. but sketchbook is pretty light on resources I guess so go ahead and give it a try. (my laptop does the same everytime I try to use photoshop cs6 while playing videos on the second screen)
Actually, I've noticed a lotta women devote a shitton of time to art. One of my old mentors was female and was very good at art. I think you have this perception because of your individual experiences with female artists.
Hey, was wondering if i could get some feedback on a story I'm writing, I know it's not visual art but it's still art... Will post the first chapter after this too. Haven't got a name yet..
On the biggest planet in the Terraform system there is the biggest country, and in that country on the smallest island there is a city which holds over a thousand bars. And on the busiest street in the Kucho district of busy bars there is only one solid oak door fixed with brass working and melted signet rings as a door handle, this door stands 7ft tall and most... packing for the 6th time in 7 years Fox carried light. Before it was mostly about saving various pieces of furniture or beloved clothes but these days it was about the smaller things, toothpaste was something of a commidity and hard to find on many of the planets in the Terraform so having at least two tubes meant bartering... And fresh breath. The bar scene had dried up on Bahleed, a once proud epitome of the largest and strangest cocktails there wasn't even a hole in the wall left to serve a basic round of flare shots, besides only an idiot would order... Let's explore art created by marginalized members of our society that dismantles our heteronormative, patriarchal society! I've always come here for critiques but I feel like there's too much gross oversexualization of women and fetishization of People of Color. Let's show the internet that this board isn't problematic or toxic and is a safe space for all artists!
I'm a beginner and who really wants to be good at drawing comic book style art. My favourites are the old horror/sci-fi pieces from 1950s onwards. This is something I've done, and its quite shit compared to the professional work I've seen but I think it displays possibilities of myself improving. After all, this is a fairly easy style to become adept in I think.
Can anyone provide any good sources for guides, books, tutorials etc? Also feedback is cool
I don't know much about the storytelling aspect but I do draw allot with inkpens. Use 3. One that is dull and very light, a pure black fine point pen, and like a fat marker that you can use to cover large dark areas with quickly and smoothly. will post some of my work.
Hello /ic/ I'm a fellow art student from Turkey. In a short I will be able to bring my painting to Sheffield, UK. Any suggestions to give my portfolio to galleries around UK. London, etc. >TLDR; is there anywhere who could check my portfolio around UK.
All sorts, none 100% firm. Perspective can be a big one, looking down at something gives a different feeling than it towering over you. Obviously lighting is important, consider the difference between something done in a shadowy noir style to something well lit, and if you've ever seen those art/photography guides on how to light a face you'll notice some make people look very sinister while some don't. Your palette will also imply a certain atmosphere, whether it's subdued and desaturated or vibrant, what colors you choose, etc. What I say is go... Comment too long. >Chinese tycoon Liu Yiqian, 52, bought Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani’s ‘Reclining Nude’ after a frantic bidding war at a Christie's auction in New York last week. >But despite making a string of extravagant purchases for his two museums in Shanghai, Liu happily admits he knows nothing about art. >‘Whenever, I saw others bidding, I just competed,’ he once said. ‘After I made the buy, I would ask them "why is this piece good?"' >http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3324009/Did-points-Chinese-billionaire-paid-170million-famed-Modigliani-nude-American-Express-card-frequent-flyer-miles.html

Be as harsh as you like. These are all from an art class I did at college, art isn't my major but I do think its a skill I'd like to refine. Also, while I think I have a solid grasp of how to draw with traditional media, digital eludes me completely. I own a tablet but I feel like everything I draw with it, despite hours of work ends up looking sub-par
Rules: -Do not rate or give critiques unless if the artist specifically requests it. -If someone is RUDE tell them to not expect much from an hour's work. -Posting WIP's, studies, "doodles", and random sketches are highly encouraged. -The art must be fresh. Like you just drew it in the past hour.
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

>be old >draw like a middle-schooler (at best) with no sign of progress in months >tangents, bad perspective, HANDS for days
JUST U S T
If I remain at this level for awhile yet I hope things at least become more intuitive for me. I feel like every drawing no matter how low-brow takes an immense internal struggle full of second guesses and sad concessions when I realize I just can't solve a problem
I want to try some stylized stuff but I always draw fanart. How the hell do I come up with some random character to test this on? How do you guys just draw people?? I know this sounds crazy but I seriously don't know how to decide what to draw.
