Actually learning perspective, anatomy, etc will take basic geometry knowledge and life experience I don't think someone younger than 12 can possibly have, when dealing with small kids the best thing to do is give them a pencil and let them have fun while drawing, they will benefit greatly from this.
What program do you use? Why do you use those over the others? I personally use Sai over any others because of the stabilizer options. It's good for people like me who can't seem to keep their damn hand steady. I usually set it to 10 for lining and 2-5 for sketching.
>>2316261 It's about the same thing, but it has a 1-100 bar that you just a enter a number in. It's probably for more experienced artists who would like a wider ranger of smooth lines. I don't use it as much as I use to so I don't know what has changed in the newer versions. I'd say it's a bit better when it comes to variety. Sai just grew on me over time.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises. Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up.
Do not forget to resize and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

>Beginner here, why do you guys suck loomis' dick? I don't understand why you guys worship him like he's a great artist or something. I mean he's good but there are better artist out there and you guys are just trying to make everyone draw like him instead of developing individual skills
How do you guys scan your drawings? I usually just take a picture from my phone, but it never comes out very well. I tried Staples, but they charged me fifteen dollars for nine drawings and had to keep it overnight. And I don't know if I'm willing to shell out for a decent photo scanner of my own. What do you use?
>>2316069 Yeah, it especially sucked because the first time I did it it was five, then this time they said it was ten because they "used the wrong computer" last time. Then I go to pick it up and it's suddenly fifteen.
hey guys, tell me what you think of wofl. he's wofl is my oc I'm planning to make a manga of. he's an egomaniacal, charming, handsome, coward, who rules over S.O.O.W. the organization controlling the world from behind the curtains. will post better pic later
I would like to get into painting as a hobby but I had a few questions. Sorry if they are really stupid, too.
Anyways, is it absolutely necessary for someone to learn how to draw well to be half decent at painting? My drawing skills stopped at elementary school because I was told my art was trash so I gave up.
Also, are popular painting tutorials such as Bob Ross's series useful at all for a new artist?
Lastly, is it even worth trying to paint if your art skills have always been piss poor?
>>2315733 >is it absolutely necessary for someone to learn how to draw well to be half decent at painting? yes >Bob Ross's series would not recommend >is it even worth trying to paint if your art skills have always been piss poor? Probably best to get a grasp of the foundations via drawing first imo
