Being a huge weaboo, my New year's resolution was to draw weeb to draw everyday. I've never drawn before but I've been able to follow my resolution so far. But I'm still far from being good, so if y'all can offer some help that'll be useful. Currently trying to get good at faces. Attached is a doodle I did like a few weeks ago
>>2547362 This old work/new work meme is shit. It just leads to cherrypicking images and misrepresenting timelines. Besides, anybody who is good was once shit, so you know that they made a progression. There's literally no point in making one of those progression images except to stroke your own cock and hope others lap it up.
What do you write on your about me page of your website or tumblr? I don't know if I should even make one. Some people don't even have one and i feel like a self absorbed faggot for thinking it's even important.
I have just started practicing drawing for real. I want to improve my currently nonexistent skills and be able to create OC one day. Do you guys recommend me to practice drawing OCs right from the start? Or should I spend a good long time just attempting eyesight copying artists I like??
>>2568059 The best thing is the one that will give you the least burn out. If you like drawing OCs more then you'll have more passion for it and likely more improvement and will to keep practicing and learning.
Not necessarily. You should never copy, but study. Study from life and understand how things work. Drawing OCs will keep the motivation up but it's important to supplement it with actual learning work (i.e. the work nobody wants to do).
>>2570125 Every red circle represents a perspective error. The problem that he has is that he draws what he thinks a hand, boob, or a leg looks like. He's using his mind to draw not his eyes. In the book keys to drawing they point this out with an excise. The excise goes like this: Draw a pepper from your mind, don't look up any references. Everyone knows what a pepper looks like, right? It can't be that hard, right? After you drew the pepper from your mind go to google/your kitchen and look... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises. Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
Visit the usual "Artbook Thread" to find your desired books. (Or look in the new sticky)
Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

Does anyone else feel a major stiffness when they draw? Like your hand feels all rigid and everything you draw seems so bland, stiff and lifeless?
I'm still learning, as all artists do, but unless I'm drawing porn for myself (no, I won't post anything) or make a rare good practice sketch, I have trouble with even simple doodles.
I want to feel the same "freedom" and "freedom of spirit" I had when I was a kid and that I see all of my art friends and many other great artists have. I just get so hesitant and so intimidated. I can't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
As you allready figured it out by yourself, this is more or less mental problem which have (probably) nothing to do with drawing itself.
Even if you would get Jaime Jones' skills over the night, you would feel the same because skill is not problem in your case.
So... spend some time for yourself, ask yourself what do you like, what would you like to become,...
The difference between your problem and problem of someone who feels the same, but because of lack of skill is that eventualy the other guy will get confidence and selfrespect. You wont solve... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Hey /ic/, I want to pursue art as a career and am willing to try my hardest to improve, but first here is my shitty stuff. I'm just here to ask you big players and successful artists about two things. The first is about my worries about art school. I'm almost to the point in life where I need to be thinking about college and I've seen a lot of people on here talk about how if they went back in time they would not go to art school because it was a waste of time and a lot of money. Is this true? Is there a specific school that would be good to go to? And last thing,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
My mind is fucked. I've given up on my goal of working as a comic/storyboard artist because it's not a realistic ambition and I can no longer bring myself to put effort into something I know I will fail at. The problem is my brain refuses to get out of artist mode so even though I quit drawing a year ago it has been absorbing inspiration and has been doing mental studies on its own to keep its skills up.
It feels like my head is going to explode. Would taking Adderall give me the focus to put my inhibitions aside and throw myself into what my subconscious mind wants?
>>2568237 Post some stuff you must have hundreds of drawings laying around. Post your best stuff.
Also, dont listnen to ANYONE here. their opinion is just as valuable as a pile of dogshit. Walt Disney got rejected ALOT before he could publish. Loads of other artists aswell, the thing is, you should STOP caring about the opinion of others, and create your own art with love. That's all there is to it. And when people say its not good enough, go to someone else (publisher, whatever person you need to achieve your... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

and it's not like they're awful at art, it's just frustrating since i know they want to become an animator / storyboard artist and they won't be able to do that career if they don't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
How do I stop retain everything I learn? Every time I take a break from breaking real life objects down into simple 3D forms, I have to redraw them for 3 hours before I'm back to where I was before the break.
Is it best to just do 30 minutes of drawing even if I don't feel like it?
Hey all. I'm not a very good painter in almost every facet. My ability to picture and frame colors is lackluster, my ability to translate sketch to lineless color fields is pretty bad, etc. I'm a fairly decent animator though, but that doesn't mean much when you don't have the budget to hire background painters. So, I decided that I would sit down, and really learn the ins and outs of digital backgrounds. Over the last couple days, although I didn't work on it yesterday, I came out with pic related. It's not done, but I'm dipping... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
