Alright, once and for all, I want to know which tablet is worth it. This will be the first tablet I ever purchase, I hear the intuos pro medium is good, but then I hear it's shit so I should get a large. Then, I hear about the huion giano so I'm confused now. Then I hear that a cintiq is the best bet. But then, it hurts your back? idk and it's smaller than an intuos medium? Like what is good?
29 replies and 5 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>2753502
Just get a medium intuos. It's a meme that you need to get a large one. Cintiqs are overpriced and half the people who try them don't like them since they have some major drawbacks like parallax through the glass and it being awkward to use. Don't buy outside of Wacom as they aren't as reliable.
>>
I have an Intuos Pro Large, haven't regretted getting it. Does the job and I like working with that size.

I'd love a cintique at some point but for now I'm comfortable.

I agree, to an extent. People aren't wrong when there's a portion of this board that isn't constructive at all but for the side that is (i.e. genuine thought-out critiques, people who share lectures/books in the artbook threads and people who help out beginners) is quite comfy.

Look at that guy who shared DS2. That course is like 700 bucks and we got it for no shekels.

I emailed someone about commissioning some artwork back in early september/late august, and they responded saying they'd do the sketches/send 'em over, and if those were good, I'd pay and they'd do the final product.

I haven't commissioned anything before, so I waited since I figured they were busy with personal projects/other commissions. After a month, I sent a message, and they apologized/admitted they just missed me. W/e, I didn't pay yet. They said give 'em a few more days/message in early November. Is it important to mentally internalize perspective even if you have a good feeling for it from life drawing?

Should you spend some time drawing boxes in 1 point perspective regardless of your skill level? I'm curious as I've never spent an hour doing something like this, but I consider myself "ok" at perspective as I've always felt it was something strictly mechanical, but I've never entertained the thought that I might be able to make it an intuitive process through repetition.

I did do draw-a-box, and I have learned how forms rotate in accordance to their orientation in perspective.

I'm running through Scott Robertson's book because of the large amount of heavy praise it receives on this board despite the fact I'm already studying anatomy, and I've been drawing for a year.

Can somebody help me?

I dont understand why mixing two complementary colors with 100% saturation and 100% brightness doesnt produce white.

In real life this is due to pigment imperfections. But why doesnt it work digitally?
17 replies and 7 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>2754325
In real life it's because paints are subtractive and not additive. If you mix coloured lights together you get white.

I'm not really sure how digital mixes colours to be honest, like what equations they use, but just think of it as putting one colour on top of another in paints, so they will mix the colours and average out the value between them.
>>
>>2754360
this

monitor's pixels work by additive formulas and printers by subtractive. first your program will have a different mode for each of those depending on what the goal of the piece is (web or print) and second each program got their blending mods, and on top of that it can be changed if the program allow
>>
>>2754360
>average out the value between them

Thats what confuses me the most.

It doesnt average the value (the values are 100 and 100), it cuts the value in half.

So if you mix red (100 saturation, 100 brightness) and cyan (100 saturation, 100 brightness) the resulting color will be gray (0 saturation, 50 brightness). Why would this be the case?

Why are all these artist events held in weird places like Dubai, Croatia, Hungary or Portugal?

Isn't it more expensive in the long run? Why not some place more accessible?

Aren't these places, except Portugal, pretty unsafe to go around as a tourist?

I think they do that to try to establish the industry in some areas where there might be interest but there are no companies and not many professionals. It's basically sowing seeds for the future. It's also possible some of those places may have government programs or something that help fund the events.
