Dip pen thread. I've been wanting to start with dip pens and I've heard a lot of conflicting information about how to get the coating that the nibs come with off. I was told burning them with a candle is the most effective way, but other sources have strongly advised against it because it can warp the metal. Also, how important is the brand of ink you use? Which one do you prefer?
Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped. If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

Alright, everytime I try and buckle down and really get fucking good, I always feel over whelmed by all the books and such. Even if I just try and read Fun With a Pencil I still am confused on where to start. How do you guys read art books? Do I just read everything and try to replicate something? Am I missing something? Am I prime autismo?
>draw thing >hey my drawing doesn't look right >conclude that I need to learn how to draw anatomy properly >open anatomy book >"this muscle connects here and here and it looks like this" >okay now I get it >draw better
I really don't see what you're having trouble with
>>2377727 yeah it's hard to explain I guess but what I mean is I'm trying to just focus on finishing Fun With a Pencil, but I don't know how to approach the book. The book doesn't really tell the reader when to follow along so I don't know what exercises I'm supposed to be doing. Like there's a whole page on baby faces before the pages that explain the basic head shape. Am I missing something?
You fell for the ebin menes. If you must do Loomis, start with "Drawing Heads & Hands". "Fun with Pencil" was his first book and he didn't know how to write back then. Well, later he also didn't know how to write, but it was better.
Also it's fucking 2 0 1 6, come on! You have youtube and Proko videos that can give you Loomis knowledge handed in easy and fun format in like 10 minutes or so, so you can grasp a concept... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Hello there. I'm posting here to get some good (or bad) comments and advices in first. I am getting a forearm sleeve tattoo. I allready have parts of my forearm tattooed so now I am doing the rest of it. Tattoo motive is sea- This is what i've got for now. Got a friend who is a good drawer also on this. My question is, what do you suggest to do to improve or somehow change if it needs changing. Main parts of the tattoo is ship, compas and treasure chest. I allready have a quote and and anchor tattooed. Rest of the arm is planned to be tattoed as the sea( bottom of... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Some. Digital is obviously a little more convenient for commissions, but I still see lots of artists sell / do giveaways for the original piece of something done traditionally and distributed digitally.
If you want to make money traditionally, find pet owners and draw portraits of their pets. They love that shit.
I can share a story from a friend >Be friends irl with an artist >my art is dA weeb tier while this friend is good >commission her to draw animu characters cuddling >she turns it into hardcore porn and charges a shitload for it >too shy to say no and have to scrape together $150 instead of $50... >we're not friends anymore

Sharp teeths scares away costumer. >Animation description was " Make it attack horizontal up and down."

I'm quite new to the ic-board but haven't seen any pixel art. I mostly draw normal stuff but am currently working on a game with a friend and I wanted to try out pixel art. The pic is the room I am currently working on in the game and any critique is welcome. Post your pixel art, if you have any below, would be awesome to see what level others are on.
There really aren't a whole lot of pixel-artists on ic. I'm not entirely sure why, it may just be a bit of a "specialized" medium. But I'm glad to see people posting their pixel art any time either way.
What are you going for with your image and is there anything in particular you feel could be improved on, but don't know how, etc?
You REALLY should work on fundamentals (perspective/composition/color theory) before delving into a specialization like pixel art, especially one with so many limitations
Go to pixelation/pixeljoint once you've become decent enough to get meaningful critiques (you can look at all the 0 to 2 replies threads for an idea of when you're still not good at fundamentals to post)
>>2377094 As retarded as I think /k/ is, their sticky does a very good job at teaching you how guns work and what types of guns there are. Don't post there just read the sticky http://amagicalplace.wikia.com/wiki/Sticky
It looks fine Your thread is still complete shit and obviously doing one of two things: Promoting yourself in a really hamfisted way Intentionally promoting somebody else in a hamfisted way, possibly ironically, to piss off /ic/. I'm guessing option two - fuck off either way.
>>2376972 Get back to me when you find someone that has the ability to successfully stylize a believable figure from imagination without relying on reference for how form is affected by light, referencing hands, faces, etc.
