Eyo people of the www! I need a build-on/ sleeve that can compliment my compass and maybe cover up the tattoo on my wrist if that is possible! So please draw and share your idea and maybe I will get your drawing tatted on my skin!
Despite the fact that the rules state not to be insulting and instead be constructive with your criticism on here, I'm not surprised that no one here seems to know how to do anything but be a douche to one another, especially people who are very clearly beginners.
So what does constructive criticism mean to you, d/ic/ks? Does it mean yelling "Loomis" and nothing else? Does it mean telling someone they suck, their art is garbage, that they should give up? Does it mean telling someone what areas they need to work on, and possibly how to go about it?

>>2376044 >Does it mean telling someone they suck, Yes. Look, I know it's not nice, but the foundation of criticism is pointing out flaws. "It sucks" isn't great criticism by any measure, but sometimes there's little else to same. What do you say when everything is wrong? And some people just need to be told their work is bad to break through their ego and give them the kick in the ass to work on their art. Some people need that harshness, and this is 4chan, the perfect... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2376062 While I agree that sometimes people's egos are a little too inflated and need to be taken down, I see it said to absolute beginners who aren't confident in their skills and just want some genuine feedback on if they're on the right path or not. While I'm sure you, anon, would give a bit more help than just "It sucks." I see a lot of comments that are literally the insult and nothing else. No encouragement to start over, no push towards fundamentals, just an insult and that's it, and... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2376044 I'm going to be a little blunt on this, but I only accept constructive criticism from someone at my level or higher, or someone that really really knows the subject at hand by backing what he says with precision.
I already know what people say to this, "but you don't need to draw well to give good criticism" and that's maybe true, but it's something I just don't accept on principle, I will always value the better artist's view than the shitty stickman drawing guy. This is how it all started for me. After a long and serious relationship ended I went into a deep depression. I found myself living alone at 22 years of age. My family had their problems and so I would see them off and on for periods of weeks or days. One night that my mother was staying with me she brought home a small canvas, some colors and a couple brushes. From that moment one I dedicated myself to painting. I knew nothing about it and now over a year later I am painting portraits of woman. Each painting seems to be closer to hyper-realism than the last. I try to capture... Comment too long. Every artist ever. Take a break. A short one, but a serious one. No drawing/painting/sketching or doing anything art related for ... say 2 weeks. That should help. It won't solve any problems but will clear your system of some anxiety that creeps up on you when holding a brush.
sorry about that anon. whenever i'm in an artblock i try to ease myself into painting again, and it'll flow as naturally as before. works different for everyone, but maybe you could take a break & travel or something like that, just to return with a fresh mind. figure out which direction you want to take your art in etc. good luck & hang in there!
>>2376024 >Does anyone understand me or have any advice? Has anyone been through strong depression and art blocks? General art block threat then..
Diagnosed Major Depressive Disorder here. I've taken lots of meds, done lots of therapy, and gone to support groups where I talked to a lot of people with similar issues. Loosing interest in things you once enjoyed is a symptom of depression, but you really didn't provide enough info for me to perform an armchair diagnosis.

So I have a little problem. I can't wrap my head around when and when not to use the 3/4 head view. It's the most generic view of the head ever, so I try to avoid using it as much as possible, but for some reason, I almost NEVER know what to do with the head. How do I learn good/ interesting head positions that match the pose that the rest of my figure is in?
>>2375926 What the fuck are you talking about you idiot? There is no such thing as a "generic" view of the head. 3/4 view is used a lot because it shows the most volume whereis front and profile view tend to look more flat.
Just learn to draw the head from any angle and stop thinking like a stupid hipster shit and start thinking like an artist.
>>2375935 He is right you know, the 3/4 view IS the most generic form of drawing the head. Look at the way /ic/ draws heads and tell me that most of them are not 3/4 views a perfect example would be the Artist /ic/ Idols so much his name was krom or something like that but that is all he draws is 3/4 bust shot views, same thing for sakinicham.
Both I and a friend have created a web comic that we've put a lot of love into, right now only the first chapter is available but we are working on more as I post this, I won't give away anything (as we I believe it should be experienced rather than told) and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did making it!
Any form of criticism or feedback would also be appreciated.
