Here's the deal, pick some shit out of deviantart or tumblr or whatever, post it on the thread, and the challenge to others is to redraw it but make it better. Post your results.
I'll start this shitshow off.
HOLD THE FUCK UP!
WHY NOT GET PAAAAAAID TO DO THIS?
>I can get paid by redrawing furry things?
>no fuck you thats not real
YES IT IS
>why are you in all caps
>how can I make money from it?
You take a bad drawing on DA and offer the original creator for you to draw it better at no less than 20 fucking dollars.
Google that shit
was actually a lot of fun. i have a new favourite thread.
yeah he really should be looking down the arrow to aim, I fucked up. At least I fixed some things.
yeah you're right. I'm going to go practice gestures, I suck at poses.
Yes please. http://bruteworld13.deviantart.com/
Pic attached is just an example, you have some 1700 pics to choose from.
mfw time travelers are scrambling right now to prevent OP from creating a generation of well drawn furry art
I know, deviantshitter are subhuman scum, especially the furries, but this seems a little demeaning. The least you could do is hide their names or something. Unless they have their name proudly watermarked in the goddamn center of the thing, then they had it coming.
Sorry, but no amount of boob-highlights is going to make up for your equally sloppy arms.
The pose, perspective, and color palette are completely different too... I think you just wanted an excuse to draw your own furry porn.
using samsung tablet and nomad brush. its an uphill battle boys
Well, that's amazing.
That is cringeworthy stuff.
Hey, changed the filename. Didn't exactly notice the signature because I was a bit busy averting my eyes.
And it's a "make it better" thread. Just make the drawing better then the original. Change the pose, colour scheme, perspective, or don't.
Hang that in an art gallery right now.
Anyways, first drawing to /ic!/ Did the head now, and I'll do the body when I wake up.
ITT: shitty artists picking on retards
lel grow up you faggots and actually get gud
alright im going to take a shot at redrawing the original one
>Just noticed the white dude screaming for help
Awsome challenge OP. This made me a bit more self aware at what skill level i'm at and what i should improve on next.
>mfw i realized im still shit
This as far as i can go today, maybe ill finish it tomorrow. Can i get some feedback on how im doing?
You know, guys, these pics are made by kids having fun, and we were all at their level at some point in our lives. It's a nice challenge trying to draw these better and in our own styles, but there is no need to mock the young, hopeful aspiring artists we take the images from. That's just being cruel and mean-spirited, and, frankly, you should all know better. A bunch of 16-30 year olds picking on kids in their early teens is pretty pathetic and dumb.
That being said, I myself had a lot of fun trying to redo some of these. I'm glad I got to practice some gesture work.
Also, I thought the Tailsrulz wolf-skank from >>1894921 had her arms in bondage, but I guess she's stretching?
>not wanting to shoot yourself or those around you accidentally is autistic
Seriously though, what does that have to do with shooting a bow? What you drew is the equivalent of someone standing around looking like an idiot posing with a baseball bat rather than swinging it with conviction. Man up, stop making excuses and account for a mistake, that's it.
I'm not the guy who drew that you idiot. I'm just getting really fucking annoyed of smug bastards going "hurr learn to shoot a bow" everytime a finger is placed wrong or some insignificant shit like that. I honestly didn't even look at the image in question and the pose is in fact stupid now that I saw it, but please, stop saying dumb shit like "learn how to shoot a bow", it would have been enough to just say "look at a reference" or something along those lines instead of going all /k/ autism on the guy.
>find retarded kids drawing on deviant art
>remake with /ic/ pro skills
>result is worse than retarded kids
You guys are fucking hilarious. If at least one piece was decent it could have been a good idea, but this is just embarrassing .
just got something in my eye...thanks
>some insignificant shit like that
you clearly don't archery
>not showing any tension in a bow and arrow while in anticipation to shoot is an insignificant detail and is in fact autistic if you point it out
Think about what you're saying, brougham.
In 2chan there are threads like this all the time. Even if the end result is the worse than the original image is is more honorable than just regurgitating mindless critics.
Are you honorable /ic/?
I can never get skin tones right, I think warming the shadows made it look a l'il better
Well, find a fucking thread that don't derail itself. On a discussion you have a ton of things that can derail the discussion of it's original theme.
Learn how a discussion works and come back, right?
If one don't want, two don't fight. If you hadn't said nothing and kept everything to you this thread wouldn't have totaly derailed from the original purpose.
The ones talking about bow and arrow are discussing how to make a work better, by saying >>1895638 the only thing you want is derail the tread.
Conclusion: Everything would be perfect if you hadn't appeared.
Sorry if i bother you, but no one is right here. First, even if a thread is on page 3 it doesn't mean that it died, just that is waiting for people to notice it. Second, i think 4chan would be nicer if someones were more quiet and respectful for a thread.
i took your advice. at first i just put the forearm on the shoulder cuz animorphic nonsensical reason, but it looks better this way.
im gonna finish it tomorrow
you should be, that should really be a Japanese long bow
this was going well until I looked at a reference for the 2nd arrow and realized the nock hand was all wrong.. it didn't lend itself to reworking
you want to commit sudoku with me?
How are we so sure this thing was even supposed to be an owl
fresh off the press literally less than a minute ago.
>They're just teens
>Let them be
NO, fuck them! Because of all these shit wannabe artist teenybopper assholes I have to scroll through millions of pages of the stupidest shit my eyes have ever seen just to find a single decent picture these days.
If I could offer my opnion?
No, not at all. You took the original and swapped it out for something entirely different.
I know a lot of people hate MLP (I don't HATE it, personally, but I don't get why adults enjoy it so much, I tired watching it and I thought it was just a little kid's show), so I understand wanting to swap out the cartoon character above with a realistically drawn horse. But therein lies the problem, now the Winged Unicorn with a shimmering cosmic mane and tail is now just a generic horse, all for a false sense of integrity and conformity.
Applying realistic equine anatomy, moving away from the cartoonish character design, I get that. But you can still make the wings, horn, mane, body color and tail amazing to look at if you find a good way to draw, pose and stylize it all.
Plus, I gotta say that the way you did the background is just so dull and uninspired. The top one has weird perspective and poorly done mountains in the distance, surely, but you took a colorful, vibrant night scene of a creek and made it some gross, groggy and boring bayou.
All in all, the top is more attractive because of it's great color palette and decent lighting. Though yours is just a quick sketch, you sacrificed too much from the original and turned it into your own thing, and the way you delivered your piece makes me blase.
You could do a lot better with your skill, don't be afraid to use the fantastical appendages and cool color palette. And, please, try to detail the background, if you can.
You're totally right, said what I was thinking even though I couldn't put it to words.
Got about this far before realizing more wolfaboo shit is exactly not what I want to be drawing right now so take it as you will
did it with myself, guess it's technically an improvement
do you paint fur like that because it's too tedious to paint it the realistic way
I don't mean to criticize you or anything, I'm just asking because I find fur extremely annoying to paint
Nah, it really just depends what mood i'm in. That pic is heavily rushed since I just wanted to upload it, while pic related (old) took more time.
do it better
Do this one. Should be easy.
Also, bird legs are not reverse jointed, they are merely crouched/ducked/squatted.
The thigh simply isn't that visible most of the time, that's all.
Even without feathers its hard to see but yeah, they merely walk crouched.
>tfw having studied that shit for drawing before.
Look at skeletons for more pointers, or just act like a chicken, fold your arms, squat down, etc.
Looking at skellingtons should be the first thing anyone should do when trying to 'get' a creature.
i'd agree with you if it wasn't a 'sexy' picture he redrew.
this would be so cute if the stylization was halfway consistent
With all rights, seeing the quality of the artwork posted in the boards.
I am just curious to see if you consider yourself as a beginner, hobbyist, student, professional or anywhere in between. Especially when you are discussing in other threads.
I think OP had good intentions but "draw it better" should be replaced with "draw it from a position of having more years of experience of drawing"
*HOPEFULLY* nobody is really trying to feel "better" than some kid on DA.
I think the idea is to draw something you wouldn't normally by looking at what I have to admit is one of the more "creative" stages of drawing. I mean look at this shit, a dolphin lifeguard bounded up? Only a 13 year old with a rage in his pants come ups with this shit.
I honestly assumed the idea was to show how to properly execute the ideas of people who clearly lack the technical skills and experience. Much to laugh at their flaws but also teach other anons, to which I planned to reply and have people help others in the draw thread.
After reading through the thread your idea seems more accurate. There's no difference in skill between the DA posts or the /ic/ ones.
This thread is a factory of facepalms.
>half assed kids drawings
>"draw it better"
>fucking chickenscratch and wobbling anatomy
you guys are shit, seriously. follow that guy's post and go doing some serious practice because you're fucking embarassing
Don't worry, mlp is slowly dying thanks to satan.
people here should had worried about tumblrites infiltrating, but its too late now
>I think the idea is to draw something you wouldn't normally by looking at what I have to admit is one of the more "creative" stages of drawing. I mean look at this shit, a dolphin lifeguard bounded up? Only a 13 year old with a rage in his pants come ups with this shit.
You got it wrong, the only people who would want to draw this "creative" furry shit is furry autists, of any age.
Clearly we have different reasons to like this thread, but the main goal here is to take these drawings that are of terrible taste from idea and execution, and execute them well, creating this clash of bad taste but great execution, creating a conflict in our minds if it's good or still bad. In the end, it's for the lulz of seeing the results.
i was only worried about the face. as for the colors its a reproduction.
>I honestly assumed the idea was to show how to properly execute the ideas of people who clearly lack the technical skills and experience
This is what I was looking for. I thought it was gonna be like "what if this pic had been REALLY done" and that there were gonna be a lot of really nice versions coming out of it. I was expecting there to be some laughs over the fact that you spent time nicely rendering some catboy with pink hair or something, but I didn't think it'd be mostly making fun of the original artists, you can just make a cringe thread for that. I still want to give it a try, though.
Hahahahaha what the fuck i don't remember i laughed so hard
my head hurts now....hahahah
Lose the soft/low opacity brushes unless you're going for an airbrush style. Your values are muddy and the texture is inconsistent. It's okay to do your palettes by combining colors with opacity settings.
Try to treat it more like oils where the color you're aiming for is the color on your brush. Also, try to imagine the three dimensional volume of your subject, and paint in strokes that conform to that volume.
Also, you probably need to look up material references so you're accurately portraying the right ones. I'm looking at what I'm guessing should be leather and it's looking more like suede. Smooth kinds of leather have harder, narrower highlights and raw/rough leather has almost no highlights as its texture disperses color.
I'm not seeing any clear indication of where your light's coming from. If you have a hard time depicting ambient light with a direct light source, next time do them one at a time and then combine them afterwards, and observe the end result. We use software to give us these superior shortcuts and new techniques, and it's a common mistake not to think in new ways about what's possible.
Also, reconsider ever using a square canvas again. It's a pain in the ass to make anything look good with. Your bow could be conforming to the golden ratio and it will never look as good as one that does on a canvas with a ratio that exaggerates the different distances between thirds. When you go square, it tends to pay better to go symmetrical and design around the center.
nooo dont leave us, if you stay youll get cookies!
but seriously just like anywhere else here too you can find people with a very large scale of skill.
I only keep lurking because i suck yet.
The bad thing about /ic/ is that everyone is anonymous. So there is no accountability, no one is able to gauge how much someone is improving, and no one can take how much experience someone has into account with their posts/advice or offer tailored feedback for that individual. No one feels like they have a place in this community, because everyone is no one. Aside from a few tripfags, or people who can be guessed by their individual style, but still it isn't taken into account for every one of their posts. Things get deleted from here, and you can't see progress or discussions over the span of years. There is no track record other than things that are saved from previous threads. Everything is disjointed in this fashion and people get distracted because random threads get sent to the top that you have to scroll past, and good luck not commenting on some of these. Anonymous works a lot of places, but artwork improvement venues are not one of them imo.
MLP is not dying. It's spreading. Pixiv has pages upon pages of MLP fanart now, and yes, these are Japanese artists, I checked. PAGES. Spreading like wildfire. If anything, expect more and more MLP until our eyes bleed.
You bring the DA shlock, I'll brink the nips.
I tried to "draw it better" but I didn't succeed that greatly
The good thing about /ic/ is that everyone is anonymous. People don't suck up to the skilled guys everywhere they post, they judge crits and advices with the same eye, whether they would simply ignore people with good advice whom they don't like very much because of that thing he said one time...
Maybe it's just me, but I like better the idea of someone recognizing me by simply looking at my work than by remembering my funny name/avatar. I think it's just then you know your shit have some impact, you know?
bruteworld13 is one of those internet personalities you just can't get enough of.
Only seriously for the past 8 years, although been into it as a hobby since I was just a kid. Glad you liked it.
I did it fast and nasty, yeah. Still, can't knock the colors and the composition mostly works for me. You can make money with that kind of work but wouldn't feel right. Normally that'd just be a part of the process. You can take it all the way to photorealism a lot faster than most styles with a lot more detail if you can justify the time.
This thread is gold, excellent work guys. I won't say "we should do this more often" because I feel it would get old and slow, but if this gets to rest some days I bet we can have a bunch of awesome and great threads for shits and keks.
hi guys wanted to ask a little help if you could color the picture I did try but came out as wanted if you can paint it for me is the thanks you
The second one is actually much better. The pose is more interesting and well done, and the anatomy isn't too fucked up as in the original. About the fabric, if you are looking at the jacket only, the second drawing may be lacking some refinement, some folds, but if you look at the scarf and skirt you see clearly that the second artist has a much better understanding of fabrics and clothing than the original, who does the same beginner level fabric wrinkles everywhere.
Finally, the first illustration is supposed to be a finished version, and is full of scribles everywhere, I guess he was too lazy to ink, and slapped some colors, with a cheesy background bonus. So even a finished polished drawing from this guy isn't better than a sketch made by the second.
That being said, fuck animu
