Did Norway cuck Sweden and Finland to get these lands up there on the north?
I look at that map now and it looks like an aggressive takeover in order to not leave the Swedes and Finns have access to the north sea.
It might be a coincidence though.
And optical illusion.
The fishermen of the north were all connected to each other through networks and unions and wanted to remain that way through sovereignity. The fishermen lived on the coast.
This explains Norways existence in its entirety.
Well, when you wanted out of the union, the time of wars between brothers was over, thankfully.
But you were forced into the union through a war at the start, so I don't think we were really that benevolent to start with.
Yes, we were forced into it because of the kiel treaty from the napoleon wars, but we served as Denmark's vessel so we had no quarrels in that war to begin with. Denmark had to give Norway to Sweden. Sweden permitted us to build our country from the very start after that, with our first universities and our own government and everything that a country needs. Sweden were bro.
The university was built three years before we were ceded to Sweden, but the part about the government is pretty much true. Pretty sure the Swedes had no true hatred of the Norwegian people, nowhere close to the feeling toward the Danes. Most likely they saw little need to keep up what would have been a long and costly, and if not won in a timely manner, embarresing campaign. It was better for all parts to just accept a monarchy union where Norway was permitted to do most things by ourselves. All expect foreign relations and the military, which was reserved for the government in Sweden, if I remember correctly.
Norway cuked Sweden and Russia cucked Finland
Norway and Russia best friends forever
Yeah, the idea at the start of the campaign was probably annexation, but after Sweden lost a bunch of skirmishers against Norway that slowed down a union was an acceptable choice to both sides, because the outcome of the war was already clear, the only question was how costly it would be to both sides. To Sweden, in prestige and Norway was suffering economically.
Well, you guys have been extremely autistic lately, flipping out over a few soldiers exercising in Finnmark, near your boarder. You answered by writing in your newspapers that Norway have broken all our friendly bonds, and that we are spying on you. Then you started your own exercise with 38,000 soldiers, 3600 fighting vehicles, 56 naval vessels, 110 aircraft and helicopters near our boarder. It must be true what Pentagon were saying about Putin. Totally autistic.
The naval blockades didn't help the situation either. Many of our soldiers were living of bark-bread and all the gunpowder was the leftover from the danes. It has been calculated to shoot about half the range of the top notch Swedish powder. Bark-bread is much the equivelent of horsefood. Also pretty sure that the year 1814 was one of the last demographic crisis in Norway.
>tfw you lost your access to the Congo River.
>people getting buttflustered at "misuse" of the word "cuck" like anyone gives a shit
get a load of these cucks
They also gave Orkney as dowry security to Scotland, that didn't go well.
When Denmark-Norway lost in the Napoleonic wars, the Danes opted to the split the Norwegian crown possessions of Iceland, Faroe and Greenland from Norway.
Trust a Dane, feel the pain.
Before the finns broke free from the russians in 1917 we shared a bigger border than we do today, and was a center for all trade with the russians.
We sold them fish, they sold us excess wheat.
It's also the reason why Russenorsk existed in the first place for a common language for trade.
We had a good relation with the russians, in fact we've always had it even during the cold war, on a local level that is.
Even to this day we share strong ties with the russians, only that on a political level we're almost mortal enemies.
Even with superior forces, more men, stronger economy to finance the war it would be too costly to fight.
Norway's population is and was spread quite thin along the fjords and mountains.
NATO can't even control Afghanistan with all their superior might today.
What could the swedes hope for in 1814, a time when nationalism was at its highest in Norway, and with similar weapon technology.
There was no AC-130's, drones, and Apaches to watch over their own troops on the ground and support them with covering fire from the skies.
