Is prom the highlight of an American's life?
And who else wants to burn these abhorrent dresses?
it is for people who never leave their hometown or go to college and spend the rest of their life sad and depressed and remembering how cool they were when they were a teenager
i skipped prom, and my friends and i got stoned and went roller skating.
I played pokemon while my prom was going on
Though really admission for mine was $300 so they can fuck off
i mean yeah, it's kind of a big deal. its the first formal event, outside of weddings, that most americans attend.
unless youre alpha as fuck, going to prom stag is very shamefur. almost happened to me but i refused to succumb to my autism.
i did wait until the very last moment to ask my date out though.
its not a rite of passage
getting your drivers license and losing your virginity are rites of passage
its not important at all, unless youre an idiot (and/or a girl).... so i guess for the lives of many americans.. you may be right.
Our equivalent was pretty nice, it was nothing like in the American shit where they hire limousines and stuff though. We had a local dj come in and there was a ton of awkward dancing, left early with a few friends and our dates then drove to a nearby beach and drank ourselves into nearly killing ourselves by swimming at night.
you mean for people who work at the same gas station and fast food jobs that they first got in high school, while all their smart friends moved out of town, only to end up with a second job at a factory and huge debts because of all the kids they had/drugs/alcohol theyre addicted to? living in a trailer park on the outskirts of their hometown?
i guess skipping college and staying home is worth it when your mom can babysit, huh?
well here in austria, you can do perfectly well without going to uni or even beter if you have an engineering/tech related job.
here everyone does an apprenticeship, so if you choose to no go to uni you start earning money with 15 and at 18 you are a full blown electrician/office worker/insert profession.
by the time i finished uni, my non-uni friends already had their own appartements, cars, stable relationships, kids etc. while never having to work more than 40 hours per week, never having to write a diploma thesis or do ridiculously difficult exams that force you into insane learning hours.
We had something similar. There were only two guys, me and some fat fuck, who didn't attend.
>mfw I got to turn down grills asking if I want to go to the "prom" with them
We had prom in high school here too. It was a pretty big deal for the girls with dresses and all that.
The girl i had originally asked to go with couldn't go (long story, but it was anxiety related), so i found some ultra thin chick i had never spoken with before through mutual friends. I only danced with her and that was it basically.
we dont do apprenticeships here.
we have tech schools, but a lot of them are scams and dont help you get a job.
and we have cheap community colleges, but theyre pretty much just an extension of high school and the 2 year degree you get from them is fairly useless.
every decent paying job requires a 4 year college degree, or several years of prior experience.
if you dont go to college or a tech school, to get your first job (even in food service) you either have to have friends/family who work there to get you in, or you have to lie.
>Fucking dance practices
>Heatenings, had to touch a girl
sounds horrible tbh, one of my friends dropped out from high school and all she did was some shitty course at a government funded public college we call tafe and she hasn't been unemployed since
no wonder you cunts have so many shootings
the closest thing to it i can imagine would be internships, which you do in college. and its basically just a form of slavery for college credit, where you get to "learn" about your future career by having people make you do a bunch of paperwork and shit they dont want to do, and fetch them coffee and lunch.
what triggers me is that those dresses looks like something my grandmother would wear to a bad taste party in the 1970's. also, those girls don't know how to make up, look like they're 30, but are probably half the age. makeup is supposed to be natural and unnoticeable and emphasise your bone structure and natural beauty, like pic related.
Sure. Last two winters were pretty short and warm actually, at least where I live.
I hate that though, I love dressing in comfy, thick winter clothes.
Free as hell
No one can stop them from using bigger and bigger weapons on their beer
Are you able to see the green grass and trees behind all the insects that emerge from the swamps when the snow dies?
This. Scandis have some weird complex about tanning that is completely out of control. When I was in Norway, I saw some of the most beautiful women I've ever laid eyes upon in person, but I also saw preposterous little orange trolls that wouldn't be out of place in a popsicle wrapper or a pack of fruit leather
It makes no sense. It's a waste of potential, like lighting crude oil on fire the second it comes out of the earth
>go to cheap community college for 2 years so that i can save money and get the basic classes out of the way before transferring to a 4 year college
>after 2 years, apply to 4 year
>mfw my 2 years of community college only counted for half a semester of "real" college
>tfw going to CC just for personal enrichment
i cant even guess what the fuck youre talking about.
every class was a joke, it was worse than high school.
plus army recruiters would hang out in the halls to try and sign up all the idiots. i actually had to run from one because he wouldnt leave me alone, and he chased me all the way to the parking lot.
You are saying that Community tv-show isn't a good representation of what community college is all about? I feel betrayed, next you are going to claim Gossip Girl isn't average New Yorkers life.
I wanna learn to code but my classes are a joke
Taking a remedial math class cause I wanna learn Python and it's covering addition and subtraction
No army recruiters but there was an apocalyptic Christian preacher with a giant sign the other day...
>tfw this thread reminded me my schools prom is soon an i'm not attending
>tfw I know a guy whose parents demand rent money from him
>but I know so many freeloaders whose parents don't
