First for still no word on Ar nosurge PLUS or Ciel nosurge Offline localizations.
Disclaimer: there appears to be a game freezing bug in the english version, opening the Growth System menu will cause the game and system to freeze, it's recommended to avoid opening the Growth System menu until a patch is issued
..Did they not play test this whatsoever? The JP version was filled with bugs and freezes too so having at least a few people go through the game and check should have been mandatory so this could have been patched on day 1.
As a QA guy myself, it's more likely that they did have someone find all that shit but the devs never got around to fixing it, or they're bugs that only showed up in the submitted retail build and not any of the debug builds.
For 'AAA' titles that is quite common but for niche JRPGs I've never really had any problems and thought they were quite bug free. However Shallie has been very well documented for having crashes and freezes occur during gameplay so I'd have thought that would have been a big focus when localising it. To find that it's releasing with crashing still in the game is pretty unfortunate, it didn't sell too well in Japan and with shit like this happening it can only hurt the release internationally too.
Back from work now. Not my photo, but here it is in the top left:
KTE is rusing you, there's no Surge Concerto logo on the JP box.
Although it would be funny if their first PS4 game reveals that they're actually the same universe, and has Ion and Nero landing in the Dusk setting, which turns out to actually be an alternate timeline of Earth, or something.
It doesn't appear in the promo box art you see on stores though.
>There has been a minor issue reported for Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea:
>The "Growth System" - unlocked when a player reaches level 40 (around 10 hours in)- freezes when opened. Gust is working on a solution to this problem but in the meantime it is recommended that players do not access this system when prompted and that they save their game after the completion of the tutorial.
>This has no serious effect on the player experience.
>Please keep checking our website and official channels for more information and updates.
It really bothers me that you can't move the camera up and down. Also you can't get it close to the character. The camera just feels weird.
Also the alchemy system is way too complicated. I prefer the simpler ones. But that's probably just me being retarded.
Who are you guys playing as? I like the green Shallie. The other one seems like a really nice girl, but she's a little boring.
They obviously have to patch this. Just hope we get it in less than a week.
The black haired one is better for a first run through of the game since she can synth better items to bring into NG+. But yeah, she's not as interesting.
Discovered something very strange.
Linca sells a book containing recipes for Supplements - Black, White, Yellow for 3500 cole. Level 26 book.
It disappeared after I started chapter 4. So it seems like a good idea to save up 3500 cole and buy it before finishing chapter 3.
God damn, all soundtracks for ¥15,000 is a steal.
>KTE is rusing you
Should have known. Not sure if I'm glad or disappointed though, more Surge Concerto is always welcome.
I know I shouldn't be relieved that I'm not going to be picking this up, but Atelier's heavy synthesis focus never really appealed to me.
Shallie is pretty comfy even though the life tasks are confusing as fuck.
Having all the time in the world to synth the perfect gear is pretty fun. And I really enjoy the puzzle-like aspects of synthing in E&L and Shallie.
As expected, file formats haven't changed since Japanese release and I haven't seen new images worth releasing, so still works as a CG rip.
Are there any time constraints at all? Can I just go explore the map, level up, gather stuff and make items all I want without worrying? What about traveling on the map? That was a real pain in Totori.
Also how do the different endings work?
>friend only plays edgy games like Demon's Souls, Dragons Dogma and Red Dead Redemption on his PS3
>hasn't touched his PS3 in months
>buy 2 copies of Atelier Rorona Plus ~The Alchemist of Arland~ on release
>cashier asks for ID even though it's rated Teen
>confused but hand it over anyway
>hear her laugh as I leave the store
>give one copy of the game to my friend
>feel embarrassed so I play it off as a prank
>talking to him a week later
>he still hasn't played the game
>check his psn profile
>full of Rorona Plus achievements
>go over the his place a month later
>he bought all the Atelier games even though he just finished Rorona Plus
What does this mean?
I checked the facebook page and it just says something about the crash.
Anyone checked if there is a patch up already? I am going to pick up this game tomorrow.
If it's up, it is not for the European disc version.
/v/ pls go greentext elsewhere. It's unreadable.
If it's anything like when they patched Ar noSurge, we're gonna be waiting a week or two (despite the fact that SCEE always seem to push submissions through faster than SCEA from what I hear at work)
That's not necessarily a bad thing. You want them to do a full regression test on the patched game, which should involve several full playthroughs.
(I suspect they don't do this for the English version -- the programmers probably aren't fluent.)
man i really like the melody of exec_cosmoflips, but does anyone else notice that the voices seem super wobbly at some parts? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's kind of jittery and stuff
Does anyone know the trigger for Nelico coming to visit while Ion is out?
I got to the end of chapter 9 and felt like I have been missing a lot, so I've spent the past two weeks catching up on recipes, dates and talking to Ion for any extra conversations. I can tell that I'm still missing a lot of Nerico's visits, but she comes so infrequently.
I only played the online version, but basically just send Ion out to gather one item. Nelico visits when Ion is away for 99% of her events, so just send her out on a short errand.
I don't want to sound like a troll, but how am I supposed to play this game?
Am I supposed to have it on on my desk while I'm doing other shit to trigger events, or do I check in whenever I think enough time has passed to repair a story section?
And speaking of the story, around what chapter do things start to actually happen? Right now, I've only repaired the tree and the events are boring me out of my mind (part of the reason is the sheer amount of minutes it takes to open up the game, navigate the dream world, sit through the loading screens just to assign fairies to a loading bar)
It seems like Ion has nothing to talk about, I never know when she's eating, there are no actual menu options beyond "make me a sandwich," and I don't really feel immersed or engaged...
please advise; I really want to like this game, and I feel like there's something I'm not getting
Replaying AT3 right now. I first played it when the english version first came out.
The problem is this, I went for a Finnel end for my first playthorugh but now that I am replaying to whole game from scratch I realized that I still like Finnel way more than Saki and I do not want to do a Saki route over her just for the sake of completion. Saki is like having a special kid around.
At least the discrepancy between Saki and Finnel isn't as large as the one between Aurica and Misha.
I actually felt similar to you when I started it.
Did you get the offline version? If so, you can just move time yourself instead of waiting, makes things much better (to me, anyway).
The game will give you more options as you go on. You'll unlock date areas to go to with Ion, and her dialogue options will increase (although you can still tell they are fairly limited).
I find making the food items rather uninteresting, but making things from the other 4 categories is good, since you get to have a chat with Ion about it right after she finishes.
Storywise, I would say it has been on average getting better chapter by chapter, so definitely hang in there.
I'd also say it isn't the type of game you'd sit down with for hours and hours on end. I've actually been playing it since November, for a bit each day.
Oh, and make sure you do the Quasar thing each day, since you can unlock date spots through it.
Just go with 2:1 heart ratio on Saki then branch off to the Tilia or Cocona routes. This allows you to get Saki Normal/True, Tilia Normal/True and Cocona without much effort on a single save file. Alternatively you can go with the Akane route.
I'll just do a 2:1 ratio with Finnel and redo her entire route, after playing a while I felt even more certain that I didn't care about Saki. The first time I played I did a 3:0 ration with Finnel.
I'll do Cocona's and Tyria's after that.
Honestly you're better off. They just tried too hard with Saki and made her utterly stupid and annoying.
That's such a weird thing for a strong S to say. I mean, I guess it's kinda true in the sense of VR and stuff, but it still seems incredibly submissive to call the player god-like.
Why is there so little love for esti dee? Even on pixiv....
>AT3 has nothing.
I like AT3 a lot, probably tied for my second favorite game in the series. It has one of my favorite casts, I like the purge system (main reason most of the non weeb internet shits one it), Finnel is my second favorite heroine in the series, I like the personae idea and execution, and I feel the songs are better overall than AT1. If I were to pick my top 10 favorite songs in the series I think 4-5 would be from AT3. Take that with a grain of salt because I love alll the games a lot, probably the only JRPGs I play outside of the Atelier series.
AT2 has the most consistency. By that I mean that the average song is better than most of the other ones from the other games. Best game in the series easily.
Also AT3 and ArNo are tied for the best "Are you winning son?" moments in the series.
Shallie crafting is pretty fun. I like how endgame crafting using chains like pic related is different from the early-mid game. It's still not trivial though, because you need ingredients with a lot of synthesis frames.
All these puzzle aspects are really fun to figure out and break.
I have always wondered who is the most popular heroine for each ar tonelico game. This is only to satisfy my curiosity.
Pol, pick your favorite (sage pls)
AT1: Misha, Aurica, or Shurelia
AT2: Luca, Cloche, Jacqli
AT3: Saki, Finnel, Tyria
Shurelia. Mir and Cocona. Harve-sama.
Croix and Jacqli arrived at Sol Ciel
Give me 5 thing that Croix might do in Sol Ciel
maybe ill start with
1.Croix and Lyner will lecture about the wonders of Funbun and the difference of Funboon (who likely remember how Lady Cloche differentiates Gergo and Geugo)
2.May join or urged to join by Bishop Radolf since they like to poke things with their spear. Or being recruited by the El Elemia or the Tenba Conglomerate
3. A half joke half serious talks with Spica who resumes selling Kitty Candy
4. Having Fun with Jacqli bullying Shurelia
5. A date on Hills of Memories <3
What makes you think a maggot like you can ask me to do anything?
Is Shurelia the white haired school swimsuit on front right?
Correct. That's from Cross Edge which features a bunch of characters from different games including Ar Tonelico 1.
The game itself is shit though.
No need to fix the best character.
In the Offline version she comes once every time Ion goes out, but not straight away. Once Ion leaves advance time to around the midway mark for "Away" and leave your Vita open for a minute or two.
The wiki says she won't come immediately for the Offline version. I've had times where I waited 5 minutes+ from the start of Ion leaving and she wouldn't come, but would come if I moved time forward a little and waited a minute or two then.
Of course you can always just wait the whole thing out, but if you're trying to trigger multiple conversations with her it's more efficient.
She kind of trolls you on visits too. If you're due a Nelico visit she can come sometime in the first 5 minutes, but sometimes she'll wait till the middle or even end of Ion's errand time.
Does she really come every time?
I usually set the time to right before Ion returns, and I've had Nelico visits before Ion comes in.
Just tried setting it halfway (5 mins into the 10 mins of 近くの庭) and waiting, but no Nelico visit.
The past week I've just been sending Ion out repeatedly to try and get Nelico visiting, I want to catch up on her events before
I make the wedding ring.
Oh god please take this to /vg/. We really don't need any more generals to clog up /jp/ at this point and this topic seems way more fit for a dedicated videogame board.
I am just asking YOU because this general seems still reasonable and could have an easy migration.
Have an easy day either way.
Now that I think about it, maybe one of the conditions for her to show is that a certain about of time passed since her last visit. She definitely did come every time for me, but I did all the Nelico visits in between the crafting for the terminate pack, so there would have been hours I'd forwarded between some of them.
Are you sending Ion out multiple times in a row and not doing anything between them? If so that might be your problem.
Gust threads have been around since /jp/'s creation. They are not a consistent 'general' either, they pop up when a new Gust game comes out and then die off for the most part until a new game comes out.
I think you should refrain from talking about what 'we' need on /jp/ if you don't even know Gust threads.
Yeah, maybe that is it.
I had a period of just crafting things to try and catch up, but didn't send Ion out too often (because I thought that I was up to date on Nelico's visits).
So now I'm left with some food still to make, and not much else. Hopefully Nelico will start appearring more often for me, I don't want to progress the story much before
marriage, in case I miss any events from that.
Or maybe I should just give Ion a lot of free time then, I did work her a bit hard before.
Have you made all the 重要 items so far? If not it'd be a very good idea to use crafting those as your time killer. I left crafting them until the end and I regretted it so much. So, so much.
If you have that done then just craft a bunch of the more common ingredients needed for crafting big items.
Have you seen these threads? This thread was started on March 11th. We've had 122 posts in 9 days. And this is one of the fastest GUST threads I've seen so far. This thread frequently reaches the later pages of /jp/; it wouldn't stand a chance of surviving beyond a few posts on /vg/.
(For reference: I just went to /vg/ and compared the last bump time to the last post time of the last thread on the board that didn't hit the bump limit; not posting for 1 hour and 40 minutes kills a thread there. Even if we'd spaced the 122 posts perfectly, we'd get one post every 1 hour 46 minutes - just too slow to survive on /vg/. In practice, though, we constantly have hours-long stretches of no posts. Most GUST threads are slower than this one.)
Yeah, those were the only things I really kept up with.
I suppose I could craft some date items in preparation. Or some more 二極式整流真空管. I needed to catch up with plugins, and I must have made around 20 of them during that time.
Anyway, seems like it is gonna take a bit of time to catch up on Nelico events. Only visited two of the date spots with her so far, so still quite a few to go.
Although the worst part is that I won't be able to tell when I've caught up with the events. I suppose if I proceed with the
marriagethen I just need to wait for her to mention it on one of her visits to know I've caught up.
Nelico's voice when she says stuff like this is great, especially her Ion impersonations.

You are not qualified to judge what belongs on /jp/ if you can't tell traditional /jp/ thread and /av/-tier generals apart.
Granted, amount of crossies in this thread significantly dumbs it down, but even you can tell that it still retains (some of) its original /jp/ spirit. We've already lost enough /jp/ content to these retards, I'm not giving up GUST threads.
Considering we're 10 for 11 on heroines (albeit Cass only in her second outfit), and it could be 11 for 12 if you count both of Misha's forms, and 12 for 12 if you count Shurelia's appearance in
Ar tonelico 2and Ar noSurge, I'd say yeah. Very much Confirmed.
Got poked into finally checking out the Ciel noSurge soundtrack even though I wanted to wait for a copy of the game, and hot damn, I ONLY just noticed that the melody of 'To the Songless Hill' is super close to the melody at the start of Harmonics Eolia.
Also I like how the opening for Ar noSurge is a combination of both the opening song and possibly the most important song from Ciel, which is a nice touch.
By the way, I've been wondering, what does "Earthes" look like written in Keihan script?
>the melody of 'To the Songless Hill' is super close to the melody at the start of Harmonics Eolia
Makes sense if you consider the idea that they are both songs intended to
establish the connection between EXA_PICO and our dimension so you can actually play the game, so the similar feelings would result in similar songs
Community Manager of Natsume, the localization company which is located next to KT, was made aware of the existence of Ciel Offline.
Not that it means anything.
I think I've finally caught up with Nelico's events.
marriedIon now. I'm looking forward to enjoying 新婚life.
And I feel like I can finally progress with the story now, been putting it on hold for a while.
Everytime i hear exec_viena i always got goosebumbs. I wonder why.
Also i was wondering about the Donta Soda....is it the longest product in the history of videogames and still selling? Its been 5700-6000 years and still selling one
Now here's a thought, how is Total Command going to retroactively explain the existence of the Ar tonelico games? We're Lyner, Croix, and Aoto all under some advanced Ar Cielan form of interdimend that had none of the sideeffects that messed up Delta so bad?
Does anyone know if Ar nosurge Plus is fully voiced? Or if Ciel nosurge Offline is? I have the chance of picking up both limited editions for 10k + shipping. For reference, I really enjoyed Ar tonelico 3 although I haven't played 1 or 2.
Looks like the anti-Luca brigade is out. She wasn't a slut and was completely justified for what she did to Croix, she had such a heavy heart. If she really was a bitch she would have never come out with it. Cloche was far more forward sexually than Luca was and probably would fall for about any guy as it never seemed like Cloche cared for Croix.
Luca was one of the sweetest heroines in the series.
Voicing in Ciel Offline after the first chapter is DLC, I am told. I haven't checked on the Japanese PSN to verify this.
While it would be cool and would explain why we can see and control what's going on to match with Surge Concerto, it has a pretty big hole:
Who would have put the interdimend on them?
Same universe, same rules apply; how are we controlling Lyner, Croix and Aoto if not for something similar?
You could say that Shurelia got the idea from Delta's visit and worked on something similar herself, and then put it on Lyner when she sent him after the Purger Hymn Crystal, and then Mir stole it and used it on Croix at some point just before AT2 starts to help her plan to get her hands on a Heart of Gaia... but then that chain of thought falls apart when it gets to Aoto
>Same universe, same rules apply; how are we controlling Lyner, Croix and Aoto if not for something similar?
In SC you are actually part of the game, in AT you are just playing the game.
Tsuchiya didn't TOTAL COMMAND SC, so don't overthink it.
I want to add to this that the DLC voices are all free, so you just need to make sure you have around 2GB of space, I think.
All right, finished. Damn I loved this game.
Going to replay AT1 and after that AT2. No dilemma for those two, I like Luca and Cloche the same. I wouldn't consider Aurica is she was the last heroine on earth so I will just replay Misha's route, then Shurelia's. Man, my GPA will suffer.
>Aurica's route is great
>and you're skipping half the game for a dumb reason.
If I remember correctly you only miss out on a short exclusive route before the two paths join up and the ending. Cosmospheres aren't locked either.
>go to gamestop to buy atelier rorona
>stops at game 1st to check if they have it
>asks employee at cashier if she go atelier rorona

fuck you GAME
Anon, I don't understand. Why would I be you? Or are you quoting someone who told you to be him?
Please explain in a more coherent fashion. Being able to understand each other is essential to discussion.
>let's cut content form the game and sell it to the stupid goyim for more shekels hehehehe
Every game since 7th gen consoles.
Even the AT2 fan translation went with hot-and-cold instead of tsundere.
Anyone else get worried that Ion's neck might snap when she turns her head on dates?
Also out of curiosity, what happens if you say no when Ion "has something important to say to you"?
I'm a little curious too, but not enough to say no to her. I don't want to make Ion sad.
Is there any chance Atelier Ayesha Plus will go on sale anytime soon? Atelier Rorona Plus went on sale at 50% off only a couple months after release (my Vita is Europe region), but I don't know how common this kind of stuff is. I want to play it, but 40 euros is a pretty steep price...especially considering I'm not sure if I'll like it enough (I liked Totori and Meruru enough for that price point, but wouldn't want to pay that much for Rorona).
Ayesha for PS3 is cheap, and the Plus version isn't that worthwhile.
Give it a few months... but I feel like Rorona+ got the sale early just so it could be sold along with the other Arland games on sale.
Yeah, it's mainly the dub that stops me from getting the PS3 version. Is there any way to turn voices off completely (an option I tend to prefer over listening to a shitty dub)?
You say the plus version isn't that worthwhile - how much would I be missing if I played the PS3 version rather than the Vita version? Also, I heard performance was pretty bad in the Vita version, but so was Meruru PS3 - how well does the game run on PS3 compared to Vita?
Just wait for the Vita version to drop in price if you want voices that much. I wouldn't want to cut out part of the game by disabling voices entirely. Ayesha dub was alright, but it's less than 30% dubbed.
>40 euros is a pretty steep price
Maybe you should look into getting PSN account of another region, especially considering that PSN sales usually aren't global.
I actually wouldn't mind having no voices that much, I just don't want to hear annoying dub voices. If Vita has no other real advantages over the PS3 version, maybe I should pick up the PS3 version instead.
The problem is that you can only have one account on a Vita. I do have alternative American and Japanese accounts on PS3.
Wait, what the actual fuck. That offer seems to be available in my country, but I wasn't able to find it before despite searching (separate searches) for 'Atelier' and 'Ayesha' AND looking at the 'Playstation Plus' category on my Vita. The Playstation Store really is the worst. Thanks for posting that image, anon, or I would've never found out about it.
No problem, /a/non.
By the way, you can have two accounts on a Vita, just not at the same time (anymore. Sony removed that feature in Vita firmware v1.80).
You can minimize the time spent on changing accounts by using account-specific memory cards, ejecting the memcard before restoring a Vita and inserting it during the unskippable intro video to skip it (turning Vita off during the intro and back on to skip it works as well).
US account on a Vita is almost a necessity nowadays, moreso on a non-US Vita.
You have three options
1. You can turn off the voices entirely. I thoroughly enjoyed the game like that.
2. You can get the undub patch if you have a CFW.
3. Import Japanese.
If you don't have any AT2 ISO at all, download the undub: Ar_Tonelico_II_Melody_of_Metafalica_USA_UNDUB_PS2DVD
It's also included in PS2 Undub Project torrent:
Otherwise you'll have to apply several patches depending on which ISO you start with:
EU -> US -> Undub -> Retranslation
Note that if you're going to dump your own DVD, NEVER use UltraISO. I recommend ImgBurn, although pretty much anything but UltraISO will do.
Patches can be found here:
Register there first. They want beta testers to be registered in order to gauge the interest or something.
You're only saying that because she wouldn't share her agepan with you
I'm contacting Ion in the yume sekai!
This caught me by surprise.
I've managed to get really immersed into Ciel despite progressing the story at a slow rate. Twists are actually making me think "Wow!", while with a lot of other games I haven't felt so much.
Lelius and Reisha should be married from the beginning
Uh, did I just somehow miss this, or did my game bug out? Cass just wandered into the back of this scene at the very start of the game and started doing one of the synthesis dances...
Sorry broski, just using a capture card.
More specifically an Elgato Game Capture HD, with an HDMI splitter box between the PS3 and the capture card to strip the HDCP (and so I can play games without having to fuck with HDMI cables or have the capture card plugged in all the time)
From what I've seen it's the former. You can synthesize to your heart's content but eventually there will be a recipe that needs ingredients that show up after the story opens up more areas.
What if Cross Ange is set in the EXA_PICO universe?
It shares a lot of elements though.
Akiko Shikata songs
Multiple dimension crossing technology
Male who can't read the mood and wants to protect girls
Ragnamails look kind of like those viruses in AT1
Important tower that is the source of magic
Ragnamails/magic powered by passion/willpower/emotion
Character development ("Diving") unlocking new magic powers
Half-dragon race (Teru)
Different races hate each other, but then work together to defeat main villain
I might be missing a few.
The only thing worse than it are the only subs I could find for it. Riner? Julia-sama? REALLY?
Cloche's install port should look just as ragged, since they are both 3rd generation.
Only Mir is lewd.
Do you mean where it is or its design?
I think this one is anpan. I'll dump some, but I hope someone has the full collection, since the mediafire link I found was broken.
This one is even more ripped than Luca's. Poor girl is suffering.
Not ragged, so it's a second generation. No points for guessing who it is, there's only one second generation left.
I think so.
I was trying to figure out this one, but I realized it's probably Cloche's
I just realized that Luca's port looks kind of like Metafalss. Then you realize that Luca is
Are you fucking kidding me? How did I not notice that sooner?!
On a similar note, Cloche's install port looks awfully like Replakia
It might be safe to assume that install ports can change. They do dynamically relocate if they're damaged, for example.
Also, both Finnel and Saki share the three point triangle + one extra point design, which implies that their install port changed after they accepted the wills into them.
Also notice that Finnel's looks like Mir's or Misha's, since they're all beta reyvateils, but Saki's is different since she is a gamma sublimate.
Sorry for spam-posting, but AT is just so good with all of these details.
This scene made me incredibly angry. Goddamn Lyner is a putz sometimes.
