Can we have another one?
Post your current favorites, share, request similar music.
They're actually getting back together to play some reunion shows.
weave is cool too.
Can you hook me up?
I know it ain't terribly impressive but I hope it's good enough.
Honestly, I've not really had much like finding more stuff like LTS, but TK's solo stuff is alright. Not as good as early LTS, though.
And the core sounds are different, but I like Midori and Haisuinonasa for the same sort of reasons I like LST.
LST is like, Punk with a Post-Hardcore/Shoegaze twinge, Midori's a mash of Punk with Jazz and Noise, and Haisui's kind of Punky with more of a Mathy sound.
There're hardly any good YT uploads of Midori though. All that stuff is on the /mu/ archive though.
Lamp is fantastic man
bloodthirsty butchers all day every day
I like enka songs but not much those granny sounds voice.
Do you know any Doujin group which arranges enka with younger voice like this?
Listen to 4th track , its not full of enka though.
Mandatory Ningen-isu plug
GONTITI, pretty much the best acoustic duo of all time.
The sound is similar but the vocals are totally different. TK really is unique.
Rin Toshite Shigure (凛として時雨) or as they romanize it in Nihon-Shiki Ling Tosite Sigure (LTS).
Fucking hell, I never realized just how awful Seba Jun really is.
Nishihara is superior in every way.
So is Krush, but then again Krush is the single best and most consistent Hip-Hop producer, the only ones who can match are either incredibly inconsistent (DJ Shadow) or don't focus on producing as much (The Genius and RZA)
awful? no. different, yes.
Nishihara is a classical artist with hip hop influences, while Nujabes was more of a beatmaker and sample artist, and closer to "true" instrumental hip hop.
Thanks, exactly what I was looking for
I already knew the essentials, Krush, Deckstream, Jun, Uyama, etc... also I hear Krush is dropping a new album this year.
add me on soundcloud if you have one / want to hear more stuff like any of these
Can I get a jpopsuki invite please?
I used to share my JPS account with my ex bf for two years. When we broke up he change the password just to annoy me and now I can't get an invite. I don't usually download movies or anything else, I'm only interested in j-music -Tokyo Jihen, Shiina Ringo, Perfume-. I hope you can help me, anon.
I'm the one who lost her account to her ex bf. I'm in JPS again now, thanks to anon. Finally I can go back to seed my Ringo stuff.
Also, here's a band I knew two years ago. Tsuzuri Zukuri:
post your top five albums
01. Tokyo Jihen/Sheena Ringo - Hard Drive
02. Guiro - Album
03. MasuDore - World Is Yours
04. salyu × salyu - s(o)un(d)beams
05. Midicronica - Remix Project Kai
(Bonus 06. )Midori - Shinsekai
There's a torrent on rutracker with everything except the two latest albums, soulseek is also an option.
does anyone have the cover pic of a Japanese artist that copied MJ's Thriller cover. I recall that the name of that artist is Takao something something and i can't track it down on google.
That's because /jp/ learned quick that people can't be trusted with invites. The "faglordmeisters" are the ones that don't have banned accounts because they are strict with their invites.
Bands & artists that I already know of, but follow one guy and another two will follow you and most of the time they're good, and then soon enough your Who To Follow is filled up with nothing but Japanese musicians.
Looking for music similar to MKAlieZ or the Armored Titan Theme from SnK. Really like the strong vocals and the overwhelming instrumentals. Not sure what genre it is, help please?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this
Man, I love both Etsuko as a soloist and Sotaiseiriron. More people should listen to their music, it's great.
I bought Nornir/Shōnen yo Ware ni Kaere and it's one of the best purchases I made.
Sleepwalker is dope jazz:
If anyone wants to send out an invite to JPS, here is my rutracker ratio and email is included in name. I promise I'll be good.
"After retiring from music as a soloist in 2012, she formed the band Flower Flower in 2013."
Church of Misery is meal i guess but choosing Noise for your Boris rec towards that is weird, i don't know why people just call them meal all the time when they were only sort of like 20 years ago
"stoner" meal + hardcore suggestions

I'll never forget school food punishment ;-;7
What does /jp/ think of LiSA? I found her through the first season of SAO. It's pretty good if not very generic pop-rock.
this song's been my ringtone for a couple years, can't get tired of it. Also, is anyone having issues with jpopsuki radio, the track titles aren't showing
T-Square. Holy fucking shit, these guys.
i miss nujabes
anyone have a jpopsuki invite? I mostly just leave this comp on 24.7
One of you might be able to point me in the right direction here:
I really like the style sound and mid-late 90's Jpop, but don't really know what to search for. Any links or basic lists of top songs from that time?
Something like this but not so musically poor, with actually interesting composition and impressive instrument playing?
I only know about bands like Ling Tosite Sigure, Envy, Haisunonasa etc.
Great band. July and Toki wa owaru are my favourites. As a guitar player I can only look up to Yoshimura Hideki (RIP).
Some good stuff:
Can anyone give me any artists similar to Eiko Ishibashi? The dissonant piano, great voice, with some experimental thrown in the mix? My favorite album of hers was Works for Everything if that helps.
She has a few good songs on some of her albums but have you heard Sleap Beneath The Distant Tree? It's a fucking god-tier album. I don't know any other artists similar to her though,
Okay, I got an invite from this thread a few days ago. Holy shit it's easy to get ratio on JPS, at least compared to what.cd where my ratio is barely 0.5 despite better-than-average internet. I've uploaded exactly 0 bytes but my ratio is already over 5.
For those not in JPS, you automagically got points from connected torrents even if they are not uploading a byte. You can exchange these points for upload. It feels amazing not having to worry about this shit and just enjoy the music.
The downside is, of course, that there are unseeded torrents on JPS. I guess one could also play the system by 'seeding' a torrent but throttling the upload to dial-up speeds.
Thats how most private trackers work
And theres really no point in throttling upload speeds, I'm seeding 500+ jps torrents at all times and it's still rare that I see anyone downloading off me, and even if they do its over in a few minutes. If you are doing something where you don't want it your internet to slow down at all like playing a game, you can easily just turn off the torrent program or pause everything until you are ready again
Any Les Rallizes Dénudés fans? Listening to pic related right now.
Seriously I love this band so much, the scene they inspired in Japan and the whole recluse mystique surrounding them.
Definitely check out A Challenge to Fate and, for a heavy psychedelic twist, The Book of Eternity Set Aflame.
I wish there were a YouTube video of "My Only Friend" off of the first album I suggested, as it's really haunting.
As a long time Final Fantasy fan, Nobuo Uematsu is my favorite composer, but in particular my favorite works of his are of his The Black Mages and Earthbound Papas bands.
For close to ten years, my favorite songs were the high energy ones, but only recently I've grown to really appreciate the softer, more heartfelt songs. Here are some of those songs. Uematsu is a genius.
A handful of you guys probably know of him already, but I adore Kashiwa Daisuke's work. The guy has a really unique blend of glitch, ambient and classical stuff.
April #02 is in my top 20 albums ever.
Did anyone ever find >>13272624 ? It's a really amazing album, and I've only been able to download very low-quality .mp3s from some a streaming website. I found a 196k DL to one song, and the quality really does make a difference...
Seriously... Would buy the able myself, but I don't live in Japan...
For any bloodthirsty butchers fans, I uploaded the whole documentary (it has English subs), as well as a few other videos and albums here:
I eventually plan on uploading anything and everything of butchers there.
Some Serani Poji, Recommend One-Room Survival and Manamoon
This is my problem: I've never used torrents before. Thus I never asked for an invite whenever these come up because I know it's unlikely I would get one if I just start seeding. I just pray they get uploaded somewhere soon, since I get my own computer tuesday.
Only started torrenting recently. Just want PSP games and j-music. Thanks
not that anon but his first album watashi dake is generally considered his best, he has a bunch though
any maher shalal hash baz fans here?
New Salyu album and single!
New Izumi Macra album just came out.
Suiyoubi no Campanella:
Moe and ghosts:
daoko's latest is great.
Can anyone identify the guy who sings at the end of track #9 on this album?
[YouTube] 泉まくら『東京近郊路線図』 pro.Sugar's Campaign (embed)
Dude has a nice voice. He sings at around the 2:45 mark
It's あきお. He's the main vocalist for Sugar's Campaign. He's got a niconico account where he has utattemita videos too.
So check that out or get Sugar's Campaign album if you wanna hear more of him.
That's one of my favorite tracks from that album, and this isn't Japanese, but it totally reminds me of the style of production from MF Doom's Doomsday album.
