The bug list for things they still have yet to fix is sad, yet hilarious. Especially how they link to Hongfire for workarounds for their fuckups.
Jesus Christ. Even the installer is broken and doesn't set the file permissions correctly. If you install it with the default settings, it won't create save files. They have a fucking workaround listed for saving your fucking game.
How the fuck is Jast still in business?
Well, mistakes happen. From experience they actually aren't scared to fire their shitty translators and replace them with more competent ones. I've seen translation quality improve from one episode to another.
Don't worry folks, there's worse out there than Sekai Project.
That said, this show is actually very good, so that just goes to show you that the quality of a translation is irrelevant. If the original work is good, its quality will shine through no matter how it is translated. As it does for FSN.
Assuming mangagamer is going to repeat what they did last year, mangagamer's gonna have a moeday sale coming up this week. If you're looking to buy one of their older games, you might wanna wait.
...But if you don't, or decide to preorder kns2 or something, as always, post order numbers if you got em.
Translating by day, partying by night.
Truly the savior of the ded scene.
I keep hoping Kouryuu will get a co-translator.
They need to port it, beta test it, and apply fixes from the beta. I feel sorry for anyone waiting to play this game. I wonder if MG would've bothered licensing it if they released just how long it would actually take to do, since their initial release estimate is already out the window by a long shot.

>Oct 02, 2015 The Menagerie is now available for download!
It's the preorders for 2 games and the launch sales of 2 other games. Though the numbers do seem high even for that.
There's still a lot of leftover bundle keys creating noise in the order numbers. People giving out the ones they didn't want to friends , cashing in the codes late and such.
However, there is one thing interesting that has happened. I(the guy posting those) expected the order number growth to simmer down as the amount of codes from the bundles started to run out, but from the last
instead, growth has remained fairly steady.
Part of it can be attributed to mangagamer currently having KNS and GGN on preorder, but I think something surprising is that OELVN, The Menagerie.
That came out two days ago, and it's immediately shot to the top of the weekly chart, beating out all the bundle codes floating around.
I would wager that it's what's driving current order number growth. Either it's selling very well, or they had some sort of kickstarter and handed out a thousand codes or something.
>or they had some sort of kickstarter and handed out a thousand codes or something.
It's an 18+ only vn with futa, so no kickstarter keys. I've heard they gave out some review keys, but I doubt it's that many.
Their QC was literally one guy running the game on like five systems, one or more of which were virtual machines. That is the extent of JAST's testing of the followup to their best selling game of all time.
Probably because nobody in charge really seems to care about that company. They treat it as a side project rather than a legitimate job so ideas that should be no-brainers are just completely overlooked.
I think they said that after this clusterfuck, they'll consider assembling beta test groups in the future. Source for all of this information: "Tim" on their forums, who seems to be involved managerially with JAST and is one of two full-time employees, and is also their lone tester.
As soon as clockup finishes the scripting. Mangagamer seems to think it'll be done before the end of the year. I think it'll probably be a christmas release or maybe slip into january.
When shit is out of mangagamer's hands it when it goes slowwwwww.
That reminds me. Hey you faggot, you know who you are. Remember when you argued with me that euphoria was going to be out before KnS2 and I told you there was no way that was going to happen, since doddler can actually get a port done in the time it takes a japanese company to insert a script?
I told you so
Did steins gate surpass it? I guess that wouldn't surprise me. Then School Days is their second best selling game.
>When shit is out of mangagamer's hands it when it goes slowwwwww
Yeah, they work so fast otherwise, just look at Princess Evangile's six month beta period and Da Capo 3's blistering translation pace.
>Yeah, they work so fast otherwise, just look at Princess Evangile's six month beta period and Da Capo 3's blistering translation pace.
Neither of which has anything to do with scripting.
Herkz being a little bitch again, working on some Monogatari shit for Commie that nobody cares about because Daisuki's already subbing it. Oh cool dudes, just reuse that translation and call it your own, like you're doing for Subahibi, am I right? Fuck Commie Subs.
Guys, remember that guy that posted on MG forums about translating Tsuriotsu? Guess what
>I'm not sure if the issue here is your command of English or Japanese (or both), but this looks more like something I'd expect to get from pasting the script into google translate than an unpolished piece of writing done by a human. I don't want to sound offensive, but you might want to either work on your language skills a bit first, or at least pick an easier visual novel to practice on.
Not really. I just reworded some of the sentences for fun mostly. That project was basically a lost cause just after hearing that the person wanted to leave 'desu wa' untranslated. I'm also only doing one project bby.
It's weird that you take offense to that, but urge people to not prejudge translations based on lines like this.
I'm not sure what you're trying to imply. I found someone to actually translate the game aside from that guy, so I'm not sure why you'd prejudge someone's work based on the work of a totally separate person.
And then joined it anyway before a week later spontaneously saying everything had been redone by a brand new person recruited from the depths of his ass who definitely understood Japanese perfectly.
Let's get the whole story here.
"If anyone had modest desire, at a time like this is to just expose his body at a mere pace within this cellar but it would be like asking for the indiscriminate bullet of an assassin."
Yeesh, it's like none of you read KiritoCy's post.
>well excuse my English if they are bad on it or any mistakes cause i didn't double-check anything yet but i would fix everything eventually
As you can see, he'll fix everything eventually, so essentially this means there are not actually any errors in the translation.
I said the 1st and 3rd were okay-ish. The first line actually is okay enough, but it's such a simple sentence you'd have to be an idiot to mess it up. The second makes literally no sense whatsoever. The third is okay, I can still see what it means, though it's worded like crap. The fourth is worded in a way that you have to look at it for a good second before realizing what the fuck it means.
Then factor in that if there were that many problems with only 4 sample lines, imagine what the whole thing would be like trying to edit, aka a lot of fun.
And as we can see from here, "understand what it means" = "are able to guess some kind of meaning from it," because obviously, anybody who claims they understand Japanese must understand it.
> Sekai Project gives them the most money for the least work.
Except Witch Boy, which Sekai can't hardly get any press coverage for. The developers are actively looking for places to hype the kickstarter, and they seem to be putting way more effort into it than Sekai is. With 12 days to go, they're still over $40,000 away from reaching their goal.
They got plenty of coverage from the usual sites early on. The campaign's just poorly designed and they didn't bother doing any actual promotional work until almost half way through the campaign when the devs themselves stepped in.
Looks like they're planning to add more rewards.
>Regarding the shikishi, we cannot offer one, due to the original artist not being with Rosemary House anymore, however, we do have some postcards with a shikishi feel which were only originally available with the game as a bonus. We'll be posting up more rewards this week...please look forward to it!
They currently have 456 backers, so they'd all have to pledge at least $125 for Witch Boy to happen. Over half the backers are in the early bird tier to get a discounted copy of the game for $10, so I doubt they'd be willing to spend that much.
Look at Witch Boy and think about it a bit. Would any company have picked it up besides Sekai Project? No. This is legitimately the best they're going to get. And even still, it's shit.
So yes, Sekai Project is the only way they have any chance of making money. But they're not, because they had no chance to begin with.
>>calls two lines 'okay', but with a bunch of qualifiers

>The Labyrinth of Grisaia
>Translation is estimated to be complete in late November. There's still technical/editing/qa work required after that so we do not have a firm release date just yet.
okay-ish, which is a nice way of saying shit. I could make it into something good from that, compared to the other which is just jumbled nonsensical shit. Then again, I couldn't really care less about the guy or his translation since MG is most likely going to pick up this game if they can.
>since MG is most likely going to pick up this game if they can
With few exceptions MG has stated that existing fan TLs (no matter how awful) make a VN less likely to sell well, so it makes it less likely to be licensed. If this guy completes the translation and releases it, that might just kill the chances of it getting licensed.
Also, if trap protagonist games sold well for MG, then I think that Otoboku 2 would've been licensed already.
What's this about Mangagamer possibly picking up Daiteikoku in the near future?
And did they ever fix the gameplay issues this game had? Because it was one of the best concepts in eroge history fucked up by shitty gameplay.
There's no talk of that because it's not going to happen, ever. The script's longer than Shin Koihime Musou, the game itself is shit (no the problems were never fixed, they just patched out save scumming as a core game mechanic), and its reputation is garbage.
And Toushin Toushi 3.
And Shaman's Sanctuary.
2008-2012, Alicesoft was absolute shit. Granted, they were having all kinds of reorgs and Daiteikoku was a boondoggle and a half that was supposed to be an RTS that they fucked up royally, but still.
Now they just fund themselves on shitting out remakes because only the Rance series has been profitable, which is the same direction Eushully is fast headed in.
>and its reputation is garbage
Was it really that bad? I remember the actual game part being kind of horrible, but that's quite normal for H-games really.
It felt more like wasted potential the game.
Yes, it is shit. It's obvious that it wasn't tested at all (see save scumming and all the other gameplay issues), and that it was originally intended to be played through with a bunch of different routes with each faction being main in them. Instead, they ended up mashing them all together, so you have tons of 30 minutes of cutscenes between turns about things happening across the map that have no effect on you or what you're doing.
The writing is also just kind of bad. It's something in desperate need of an editor to straight up cut out at least 25% of the text because with all the programming delays, the writers just kept writing and they threw literally fucking everything in.
That's where the smart money is, but especially Daiakuji which is fucked up as shit on modern systems, was really popular back in the day, is about the same age as Escalayer which just got a remake, and still has all kinds of random cameo shit in their current games. Daibanchou was popular enough too, although not to the same degree, but Alicesoft seems to have disavowed it almost entirely and it still runs on Windows 7/8/10 without problems.
It just looks like they wanted to make something amazing and it turned out to be too much for them.
If they fixed the gameplay issues and every main faction was playable it could be a dream game.
Alicesoft's not going to be giving MG jack shit unless Haruka does well, and what they give them will almost certainly be Escalayer because when something works, you release the same fucking thing, not go for something completely different.
Arunaru just said that it's too early to know anything
There is no evidence of any plans to remake the Dai games.
Their next two games will be nukiges (firstly from the Oyako Rankan guy and then probably another beat blades type game).
And Rance X in 2017.
I do wonder if they might get Rance 04 out before Rance X. They'll also probably work on an Evenicle II
>The English version is not publicly available at the moment and will likely never be again.
What is this game? How come the English release is all ages but then everything else seems to be 18+? Did they just translate a demo or something?
>There is no evidence of any plans to remake the Dai games.
Because there was all that evidence they were going to be remaking Escalayer.
Oh wait, it was announced 3 months before it was released.
Seems dumb. Sounds like he was just scared of the cops going after him or something. Although I do think this would totally be a good idea for a Steam game. Wonder if there's an uncensor patch out there, if it's just images and sounds.
They didn't do Toushin Toshi DS
Image Pooch just bought the rights to remake it from them.
Apart from that Alicesoft had no involvement.
They did remake Escalayer though.
So their last 5 actual games are
Rance 03 (Remake) - August 2015 - The remake sets up a lot of necessary things for Rance X.
Evenicle (New Title) - April 2015 - Will have sequels
Blade Briders (New Title) - October 2014
Escalayer Reboot (Remake) - July 2014
Rance IX (New Title) - April 2014
So two remakes out of the last 5 games, one which is a remake of a quarter century old game that needs a remake to help prepare stuff for the series finale.
Their next game is confirmed to be an original title nukige and the game after that will probably be a nukige
So what team is going to be working on the Dai games?
Remaking Escalayer is a lot easier than remaking one of the Dai games.
Unless you just want a graphic update which the Dai games don't need.
It's certainly not something they will tackle whilst doing Rance X given how massive a project Rance X will be.
At the start of the year they said they had four projects that would be released this year (two have been pushed back).
One was Evenicle
One was Rance 03
The next one is a nukige by the Oyako Rankan guy.
The one after that is getting worked on by the guy who did Haruka and Escalayer.
And they are working on Rance X which was planned for 2016 but will almost certainly get pushed back.
Evenicle team is most likely to work on Evenicle II which has plenty of hints about.
Rance 03 team is most likely going to work on Rance 04 then Rance 02 (or the other way around). This will probably end the remakes of the Rance games for the immediate future.
So there isn't anyone who can work on the Dai games at the moment.
50% of their remakes so far HAVE been almost entirely just graphical updates. I don't know why you think that they're going to change that and start rebuilding every single game from the ground up.
Because with the exception of the Rance 2 'remake' which was just part of a compilation disc - 100% remakes of their non nukige remakes have been complete remakes.
Which the Dai games don't need.
There is no evidence whatsoever that there is any plans to remake the Dai games any time soon. And in fact everything suggests that at best they won't work on another Dai game until after Rance X is released
Nice, I already have a chance to test my wordfilter.
To me the game looks like a cheap doujin title, so I can see why people wouldn't want to donate that much for it. I'm not familiar with BL, but the magical girl angle might be keeping BL fans away, while many guys just wouldn't want to play a game marketed as BL. IIRC it was mentioned that the romance scenes happen when the characters are in their male forms.
> another fuwanovel machine translation
>> bud u call al trasrlations mashine!11111
I should start counting how many times I've looped through such arguments.
Could you just go to https://warosu.org/jp/thread/S13795380#p13800915 and pretend we already went through all these same points already?
What is with this game about a tough guy that rapes everyone being hailed as a masterpiece? Is that art? And why has Doddler still not changed his avatar if he didn't play it. Does he secretly like being thought of as a tough guy that rapes everyone?
> Akuji sends his osananajimi who loves him into brothel
> She breaks down in tears when he visits her there some time later
> Akuji is clueless why she's crying
Truly god among donkans.
Because it was a
And Satchan and Motoko were great
I cannot comprehend why people keep complaining about Daiteikoku gameplay. It was one of most fun Alicesoft games gameplay-wise for me. Yet they claim that these shitty grinders like Rance 6 or RQM are "best stuff ever".
Unlike these brainless grindfests, Daiteikoku actually required you to think in advance and plan ahead for many many turns or it would fuck you hard. And since there's no randomness, you couldn't overturn bad planning with lucky roll. I bet they also think chess is bad and "save-scumming" (whatever that means for game that doesn't do RNG rolls).
They should make Hornet, Rance's Aunt so he can emulate Akuji
The main game mechanic was great. Lack of scouting or retreat made it bad. And the retarded cheat mode ninja.
But seriously, people were just pissed that you are forced to play the boring as shit guy. Everybody wanted to play loli Hitler or loli Stalin since the first trailers.
> I don't understand how that could possibly be applied to chess.
Yes, that's the point. Daiteikoku is affected to savescumming at same extent as chess (if you could save and load in chess), so complains about it are crazy.
I liked protagonist there, he's better than your usual colorless hetare shit you get in 99% of VNs. He's kind of toned down Rance.
Nobody wants to play as a fucking fleet admiral in space world war II when everyone was hyped to be Hitler/Stalin/Churchill/McArthur etc
Eagle Douglas as the protagonist
I'm not even a yank and I would have loved the fuck out of that
After this kickstarter fails don't be surprised if you see dovac spreading bullshit about how the BL market isn't worth going for.
I'm not even a fan of the genre but I have no doubt that a market for it exists. NTY sold extremely well for MG.
Dovac can just blame his own lack of knowledge about what the fans of the genre want, asking fucking 35k for the translation (which is utterly unjustifiable), lack of higher tiers (which is the reason why they get so much money on kickstarter) and lack of attention he have to this kickstarter.
If he really wanted to know what fans of the BL genre wanted, he'd just need to poll tumblr or BL forums. He could even look at MG's BL/otome request thread on their forum and see what's popular. I just don't think he was ever that serious about getting into BL.
I don't think it even went that far. The developers probably approached Sekai and they figured they could give BL a shot without really giving it much thought. I seriously doubt this is something they sought out.
In the kickstarter comments, people are blaming the failure of this kickstarter on LGBT bias. That's right, folks. It's not because it's a no-name game on mobile. It's not that the translation fee is absurd. It's not that people like BL and magical girls but maybe not together. No, it's because you h8 teh geis.
To be perfectly honest, I would have supported the game if it was the exact same as your average magical girl eroge (read: lots of rape, tentacles and probably ntr) but with boys.
Is that one kana per day? Personally, that would be way too difficult for me. I wouldn't recommend aiming so high for anyone. You should at least take a week per kana to make sure it is properly ingrained!
JAST's attempts at BL were questionable title choices as well and they didn't sell well, so JAST basically gave up on BL after that. Sekai going with such a title questionable title as their first attempt, even if they were approached, was a bad idea. Now they might be hesitant to try again, since the first attempt is going so badly.
What a weird project
Apparently this is being made by a french guy and dutch guy in japan.
Also there's a "support us on kickstarter" on their website, so brace for another oelvn(I guess?) kickstarter, I guess.
Remember doddler, when they ask what you're in for, it's because you killed a guy.
I think they found out that the guy in his avatar is a rapist. I said it was a bad idea, but did he listen? No. "But it looks cool!" he said. Yeah, see where coolness gets you? Now the shoe's on the other foot, so to speak.
What are you talking about?
If only that was real.
His latest thing is complaining that people point out typos in the promotional pics that he himself posts, which means that people complain about everything he does no matter what, and has nothing to do with all the fucked up Engrish and typos that are in literally everything SP does.
What a dipshit.
Lately I've been seeing people posting "WOW THIS IS CRAP" posts on the Steam forums for games that don't even look bad (so I'm not talking about Sekai Project stuff). They aren't going for review fame, so are they seriously just trying to rush to be the first to whine about a game? What the hell is the appeal in that?
Visual novels have never been well received on Steam. The only ones that have really sold well have been GoGoNippon, Nekopara, and the Sakura series but that is because those games have meme value. Just take a look at the reviews on them.
Well, to be fair it's Conjueror and Garejei that are translating Tokyo Babel.
Also, since Dies Irae is an extremely complex VN to translate I find myself thinking that after this MG will hire him to translate Tsuriotsu.
Fantastic taste right there. Also, that dakimura is hot. I have no doubts it was money well spent.
Looks like MG picked up Aguni, the prequel to Myth.
>Just finished translating all of Aguni, the short semi-prequel to MYTH. #mg_myth as a whole is 44% translated now.
>I find myself thinking that after this MG will hire him to translate Tsuriotsu
Why do people seem to think that Tsuriotsu is at the top of the list that MG will license? Otoboku didn't do well enough for them to license its sequel, so why would they pick up another trap protagonist game? Also, after they're done with Tokyo Babel, they'll likely move on to other Propeller games. Evolimit and Bullet Butlers are more likely as their next projects.
It is, but I've heard it's missing some content from the original version of Aguni that came out 2 years before Myth.
>"MYTH version" lacks the three bad endings and a CG (related to the third bad ending), and has a 640x480 resolution instead of the original 800x600 one.
>Why do people seem to think that Tsuriotsu is at the top of the list that MG will license?
It's a well regarded game with very good positions on Getchu.
>Otoboku didn't do well enough for them to license its sequel, so why would they pick up another trap protagonist game?
Otoboku isn't that good to begin with but if MG printed hard-copies of it I suppose it didn't sell at least that bad. MG usually only prints hard-copies for games that sell reasonably well so I find it a bit hard to believe they wouldn't follow this policy on Otoboku. But then, the question of why Otoboku 2 (which is miles better than the first game) wasn't licensed yet comes so I'm not sure of what to think.
Demand seems to have increased greatly since then. There's a lot more potential customers to work with this time so one disappointment years ago doesn't necessarily mean much. If they're going to give it another chance, that would be the one to do it with.
>if MG printed hard-copies of it I suppose it didn't sell at least that bad
They probaly thought that a story vn like Otoboku would sell better as a hard copy, since it would attract collectors, especially since it was a limited edition.
I think it has less mainstream appeal than most moege, since many guys won't want to self insert as a guy in a dress. After the success of Princess Evangile, Magical Marriage Lunatics!! is probably more likely to be picked up than Tsuriotsu.
So Doddler isn't dead in the fan TL scene after all.
>It'll surely have lots of attention.
Not the kind of attention that brings sales anon. I think it should be difficult to get Steam fags to look at VNs with trap protagonists seriously. Perhaps the best way to introduce these kinds of VNs is to market and present them in a non-serious way. I believe someone from MG said on this thread some months ago that when they're on the booth, making people laugh because of the game is an excellent way to motivate them to buy it.
I remember that Otoboku did well during their sale. It was in their weekly top sales for awhile until the IG bundle came along. There seems to be interest. Maybe they might reconsider picking that up.
Otoboku was right behind deardrops in sales back in the day. Not shit, but not boob wars.
I haven't seen any evidence to point to mangagamer picking up tsuriotsu, but otoboku's performance is not really a metric to judge it on.
Nah, you're just dumb.
I'm pretty sure you can find a Yen to Dollar converter yourself.
Guess we have a fuwafag here which requires special treatment.
Here, for you. Not a limited edition.
On /qa/, since that place is full of it. Full of /s4s/ memes too, since they don't seem to moderate it at all. Shitposting galore. In fact, taking the argument to /s4s/ would probably be even better since they'd have no idea how to react to two people just relentlessly throwing flames at each other.
To be fair, I have been keeping up with this guy because I like him (in the same way I like Derek Smart, I haven't actually played his games) and he has been working on all of these games simultaneously for quite a while now. So it does make sense that a few of them would be finished around the same time.
Looking back, I really hate the Insani days. Just a bunch of pretentious fucks translating demos and all ages stuff. The epitome of "the medium could be so much more." Yeah, well, it turned out to be more. More sex. Suck it, whoever the guy that did that altogether stuff was.
Didn't they fire half of the group a couple years ago? They even had an announcement there about it (which was deleted later). Anyway.
>This update is mainly to show our hosting provider that we're still alive.
>After eleven active years from 2002 to 2013, No Name Losers has now dissolved.
Sekai Project was the one who approached Witch Boy's developer about localizing their game.
>Between October and September of last year, we were given some advice regarding exploring various crowd funding projects when we came across Rosemary House’s Witch boy Magical piece. We tracked down their site and contacted them to see if they’d be interested in doing an English version of their game.
>Even though visual novels are becoming a popular kind of game to play, from what we’ve seen, the BL genre doesn’t seem to have as big as an audience as we initially thought.
>If the project doesn’t get funded, we’ll have to revisit the idea of releasing the game at a later date after talking to Rosemary House to try and come up with other plans to make that a possibility.

>We’re a Steam-focused company, so we want to focus on releasing games on Steam easily without cutting content.
Am I supposed to laugh at this ridiculous statement?
Well, what he's saying is that he wants to do more all-ages only games. So he DOESN'T want to do these games that he has to cut but does them anyway because he also wants cash money.
>We haven’t really explored talking to Spray just yet. We’re in the middle of talking to another big company to see what they’re willing to do. If things don’t work out, or even if they do, we might look into talking to Spray after the release of CLANNAD.
Any of you fags(in the more literal sense) have any idea what that could be? From I understand, the BL market is a small one so it should be easy to narrow down a few likely candidates.
