Some funky business going on with mangagamer's top five chart. I'm sure doddler'll be happy to hear that KnS2 is currently occupying both the #1 and the #2 best sellers slot.
As always, post order numbers if you got them.
People actually do post them fairly often https://warosu.org/jp/?task=search&ghost=yes&search_text=order+number
I do supply some of my own but I don't get enough autism bux to afford to just buy random shit.
would you fug originalren
would you wear that in public
If they partnered with someone who uses kickstarter for every single visual novel, that hoodie would be pure kickstarter material.
No wonder Demonbane was so good. It was edited by Colin Crouse. I wonder why the others didn't want to provide their real names. It could possibly lead to greater reputation in translation/localization field of business in the future.
The main reason is because having worked on a Japanese porn game does not look as good on your resume as you might think. Colin has no shame and still lives in his mother's house, so it's unsurprising that he wouldn't care since he doesn't have to worry about getting a job.
I wish they'd list the game on their site already. I want to know how much money to put on my prepaid credit card, preferably BEFORE release since it always takes ages to do so. Also, do we have any news on whether or not it will have DRM yet?
Depending on how shitty the DRM is, how busy I am at that time, and how much I want to read Gahkthun, I might just upload it so someone can get rid of the shitty DRM for me. I wouldn't be surprised much if harsh DRM only speeded up the process.
Yes. They use soft-denchi for all titles: http://www.paltio.co.jp/soft-denchi/
You get a prompt to enter the activation key on first launch where it then activates over the internet. After that you don't need an internet connection, only changing the OS needs re-activation.
Soft-denchi installs something on your PC which then keeps running in the background permanently. I consider that malware.
I'm fine with any DRM that actually works and doesn't make any changes to my system. Installing things and running processes in the background (regardless of what they actually do) are two big no-goes for me.

Editing for Ann's route should be done soon. Tina's route is roughly 25% edited at the moment. I'll make an update post next week.
For what it's worth, we only have ~25 games left with DRM: http://ask.fm/MangaGamerStaff/answer/132479433458
Some of the ones on that list are having it removed soon too.
We had some discussion on this last thread. Please read >>14325806 and the chain of replies so we can continue where we left off rather than repeating the same thing again.
Mostly it seems /jp/ has proven itself incapable of judging translation quality. TL doesn't seem confident of the quality at all, and is translating with a dangerous mindset, but no real issues have been found yet (likely due to only that simple part having been pasted for comparison so far; maybe I'll make a proper extraction tool later so I can give more lines for comparison).
You missed that Himawari has entered scripting as well. It's right on MG's blog.
>Himawari: The Sunflower
>Side stories (Translation): Komorebi: 100% / Kagerou: 100%
I have no idea. I do know there are a few people who basically own the entire catalogue, but they're obviously outliers. I'm sure the bundles would skew the numbers substantially enough to make the average not terribly informative anyway.
It needs to be played on a variety of systems and by different people to make sure as many potential issues can be found as possible. Your method is why JAST's release of Shiny Days is so buggy.
Couldn't really say. Just speaking personally, the sheer volume of boobs seems like they might be a bit much for what Steam would find acceptable.
Not sure if I'm allowed to specify, but think older stuff.
Umineko is being worked on at the moment after all. Even if MG can't assign percentages to it, they should at least mention what's going on with it, so people quit thinking it's in Limbo.
I know Pygmalion won't be worked on until BDH finishes Fata Morgana, but I thought W Happiness was supposed to have been started soon. What's going on with that? Also, is Bokuten still on hold?
IF it sells enough digital copies, it'll get a hard copy run. It's entirely dependent on how well the digital version does. Cartagra didn't sell enough digital copies, so it's not getting a hard copy run.
Not really. One dumbass says that it's translated by looking at the CGs and making things up instead of reading the text. That makes it accurate because instead of translating what's in the Japanese, the English is a description of the CGs.
Doing worse than Magical Boy after initial rush.
Are we going to see second sp ks fail in a row? Will be best christmas gift ever if it does.
Isn't relevance on Steam how well a game is currently selling? If so, then G-Senjou is currently being outsold by Nekopara.
What is it about their business model that requires them to use a KS for everything
>Isn't relevance on Steam how well a game is currently selling?
Even if it is, you aren't browsing Top Sellers list.
I'm not even going to bother writing a new post, I'll just copypaste two old posts.
>桜の花 can be a fancy/poetic, somewhat feminine way to refer to a sakura tree. The guy who pointed out that it's "absolutely wrong" likely only has rudimentary Japanese skills.
>Stop being retarded. I know you're shitposting, but people are going to be parroting this for several threads as "proof" the translation is bad.
i mean i guess it does mean it's springtime and shit but practically speaking does anybody actually care
is one of the translations leaving out crucial context or subtext that the other one would, assuming we already know it's spring
What was the proper way to call this type of character again, 強気のあの娘が魅力的 still brings a lot of unrelated shit.
It's not cherry trees in this context. It's a city that's always covered in cherry blossoms because it has some giant magical tree.
It's just the same guy shitposting as usual. Notice that he's ignored every other valid problem brought up and narrowed in on one thing and trying to handwave it as unusual metaphorical usage, same as he did with shoestring or that Daitosho shit, despite the 'translator' being an admitted sub-beginner.
doesn't the comparison work exactly the same? if the tree covers the whole city so do the blossoms. in fact if you say something like "the city was covered in cherry blossoms" it makes it sound like it's covered in blossoms that have fallen from the trees, or maybe flying through the air.
>Notice that he's ignored every other valid problem brought up
so have i, mostly because i don't know (or care) what the other valid problems are. if you make a bunch of accusations they should all have sticking power. if the case against whoever the fuck this is is really strong you can ditch a shaky point or two and zero in on the really inexcusable stuff.
so independent on whether the translator is a shit eater, the translation is shit, or the person defending it is a worthless shill -
is the "cherry tree" translation
- a garbage shit mis-translation that someone (several someones) are trying to pass off as a fancy metaphor, or
- an acceptable translation not reflective of many other grossly wrong translation mistakes that were made during the butchering of the work
>When I look up, the sky is completely covered in a spring haze.
>Indeed, covered in a cloud of flowers. The sky is being obscured by a cherry blossom tree.
You'd have to be pretty crazy to translate that as a tree when it's obviously still talking about the clouds of flowers, unless of course, you were 'translating' by looking at the CGs instead of the text.
It's similar to that too. The English is pretty fucking terrible because, besides fucking up tense all the time, he's also just substituting words instead of actually writing English sentences. Like this:
>That is, a Cherry Blossom City.
You're asking a lot for someone to be able to understand there's such a thing as poetic rhetoric in a language they don't understand.
The problem isn't his translation is shit, the problem is his English is shit. In his absolute failure to coherently explain the situation he's posted the absolute basic expression of the situation. He isn't wrong, but he is a horrible writer.
I actually deleted that post since I figured I should check the context first to ensure that it actually makes no sense but I couldn't find the scripts in ~10 minutes and I gave up.
>Then post more lines.
What's the worst there is in the 4000?
Context is that they were in a snowy city in the middle of the winter when suddenly they noticed cherry blossom petals falling from a cherry blossom branch sticking out from a gap between two buildings. Protag and his imouto check it out and find a city in spring (as in literally, it's a different season there) on the other side, covered by a giant cherry blossom tree.
If it's for Narcissu, I don't think most Muv Luv fans would be into it, since the genres are so different. Plus, its KS just ended, so most of its backers are likely still tapped out.
Softdenchi on KnS 2 was pretty shit.
You can bypass the activation with a single NOP inserted into the exe.
Then, after the game launches, it drops a main.bin in the game folder that's exactly the uncracked .exe of the game. Just make a copy of it and there's your crack.
Well, even with this trivial DRM it still took a week after release for it to go up on torrents and erogedownload. The game files were uploaded by someone after only a few days. So I suppose it worked.
Huh, then I might even be able to just crack Gahkthun myself.
>The game files were uploaded by someone after only a few days.
As in, the game itself? Isn't that completely unrelated to DRM, then?
(Side note: If I do end up cracking Gahkthun, I'm only uploading the crack. Find someone else to do the actual pirating.)
To understand — yes, to translate — no.
But you cannot understand anything if you don't know Japanese, so its irrelevant.
I've posted some samples from that "tl" few threads back, guy cannot even understand things like ない or 割, its hopeless.
Pretty sure their business model is to use kickstarter as the store. By letting people pay up front for how many dakimakura/hard copies/key chains/etc they know exactly how many to print and don't need to print any for future buyers.
Normal companies would instead need to make extra, or guess how many to make, and will either sell too few or make too many. JAST for example went with too few (with the incentive being that people would pay faster).
>Pretty sure their business model is to use kickstarter as the store.
That's exactly what they've said it is, and it's only a matter of time before Kickstarter tells them to shit or get off the pot.
My uncle works for Steam, and I can confirm that -167 people have bought G-Senjou so far.
No. The idea of translating Maruto gives me a headache. His text isn't overly difficult to read, but he likes to use a lot of wordplay and clever phrasing that would be a bitch to try to replicate in English. It's the usual problem of Maruto being a good writer, so in order to do him justice the TL would also have to be a good writer.
They're up to nearly a dozen KSes over the last year and a half, none of which have been completely fulfilled, nor are looking like they will be within the next year, and they have a bunch more planned.
> nor are looking like they will be within the next year
They claimed to complete WEE in 6 months.
Not saying they will, as dovac demonstrated his incompetence in managing tl projects many times already, but they are going to last a while on these "just a little bit more and we are there" promises. Software part is steadily getting delivered, so from KS point of view, its all good.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/muvluv/muv-luv-a-pretty-sweet-visual-novel-series/posts/1402528 (scroll to the bottom)
Ahhahaha, sekai is now begging other companies to promote its narcissu campaign. I can feel dovac's despair.
Part of the issue is that to date they're clearly getting more money from their kickstartered projects than they would just releasing finished products. They're not just using it as a store, Kickstarter + Greenlight doubles as their main marketing tools. They could chose not to use either but they'd be worse off for it, so it's not terribly surprising that it ends up being abused.
>little busters being picked
>wtf is this shit its already been translated
>go to doki
>EX translation is kill
>visual arts is releasing little busters again based on a fan translation
just kill me
Why did this remind of Cafe'x tweet
>Have you pre-ordered the latest game in the AAA franchise #euphoria from @MangaGamer's site yet?
Haven't all of their games had poor to mediocre sales at best? Sakura Shit is the only thing associated with them that's seen any kind of real sales.
If not for KS, they'd already be out of business.
That's why I like MG's model. While they may not make millions, (almost) every game they translate over makes them money; this is sustainable and a real business model. It's also pretty consistent, I think they've put out a new game every month in the last year? Only thing that sucks about it is likely staff pay, hopefully that changes as they/the market grows.
They've been putting out at least one game a month, and two every month or so. I doubt that'll last next year as a bunch of long stuff can finally come out, but it would be nice.
Would the save file from the voiceless version of Koihime Musou work with the voiced version? I really don't want to have to replay that entire vn if I don't have to.
Also, do save files from cracked versions work with the new DRM free copies on MG's site?
The voiced edition of Koihime Musou had engine and script updates. The crack will likely not work correctly. It's not like you need it anyway. The current version of KM on MG store is DRN free.
They need less than 40k$ to license and complete 2-3mb game, while dovac needs 70-100k$ for 0.3-1mb games.
Low operating costs make it possible to be profitable even with relatively low sales.
narcissu pledges dying, their BL kickstarter failed, g-senjou selling like shit, shitty horror doujin visual novel also failed to sell well, visualarts dropping them, and winged cloud dropping them too. Anything else I'm missing on sekai getting fucked?
Nah, man. They're just haters and not part of Dovac's target audience.
I do laugh that Dovac's immediate reaction without even reading what was written is "Don't like it? Take your money and fuck off."
Yeah, they filled kickstarter with shitty projects that no one in their right mind should care about, and then even failed to deliver on their promises.
They're a cancer to the medium just like the fucking Winged Cloud. We just have to pray they die before they end up killing their host.
There's among the Clannad backers too. The people who backed physical-only are upset that the physical copies won't come out until after the game launches on Steam, so even non-backers can play it before them. They either want it delayed to match the physical copies arriving, or they want free Steam keys. The problem is that some backers paid for both physical and digital copies, so just giving free Steam keys to people who didn't pay extra like they did will piss them off. And I doubt Sekai's in any position to just refund the difference and make everybody happy.
I doubt it's a sign of market trouble. The companies that went off on their own did so because they can make more money for themselves by not giving Sekai a cut. G-Senjou isn't selling well, because it's a rerelease of a fan TL that didn't use kickstarter. There was also the issue of how Sekai initially responded to the cropped CG issue and the lack of news regarding an 18+ version. Witch Boy got a decent amount on KS for what it was, but it's very niche and the goal was too high. Narcissu is also niche (utsuge) and it's timing is bad due to the Muv Luv kickstarter just having ended and the holiday season is upon us.
Boy am I glad I decided against backing Clannad due to the lack of communication regarding the translation staff. What a clusterfuck it's turned into.
I said back then that I'd buy two copies of Gahkthun instead, and I intend to stick to my word.
G-Senjou was also stealth released into the void. The release date was only given one day prior and the only promotion for it was a controversy that probably put off a lot of the fans of the game from buying it.
>copy pasting in the fan TL with no changes.
They made it worse actually.
>While playing the 1st chapter I noticed that there are many places where there are "?!" instad of "Maou" or "Devil". I'm pretty certain that was not the case in the fan translation.
Oh wow, you aren't exagerrating. They really told him to fuck off and take refund.
dovac, are you insane? You are killing your only source of money for no reason. Con artist should never lash out on fools who gave him money, true professional always finds a way to talk them into giving even more money.
Really? Did you not read much other things or did you have some personal factors to tearing at g-senjou.
It was like whatever to me.
LB Kyousuke scene (the rest of LB is shit) and end of Umineko are much more emotional for me.
I like Sharin no Kuni's twist more too.
Cmon, that jail visit scene with all the girls wanting to forgive you while you took the fall was pretty touching. The only other things that have made me tear up is the endings of Final Fantasy X and American Beauty. I haven't read either of what you mentioned.
>And the true ending's final parts is pretty tear jerking. I haven cried at another VN.
It's terribly cliched, especially if you've seen a lot of 80s and 90s j-melodrama. One of the kdrama hits from a couple years ago (Secret) has the exact same scene as the GSnM ending.
Though I must admit Looseboy's fadeout fakeout was quite well done.
>It's not that bad aside from the main twist.
Problem is that pretty much ruins everything Looseboy was building up to.
This essentially means that they did not even TLC it, as in they did not hire a normal person, or even use one of their existing members, to read through the novel and play it as a normal person.
Instead, they announce the release date 1 day before its released and rush to release it.
There's no way a TLCer would not notice the !? instead of Maou unless they hired someone with 0 reading comprehension to work for TF2 scrap which is also very possible.
They probably wanted to space this out before Clannad and forced out its release. Nice planning and schedule management, SP.
If it doesnt sell, its because they announced it like 18 hours before it came into the store.
They probably didn't kickstart this to try to prove to its audience that they don't always have to rely on Kickstarter.
Or they believed that G-senjou was good enough or well known enough to sell without kickstarting, unlike their other random crap that REQUIRE kickstarter to make sure they don't lose money.
Or maybe Sekai Project is moving away from the KS and is starting to become a normal business!
Lol jk they didn't kickstart G-Senjou because they didn't do any work on it. Copy Paste fan translation, Replace Maou with !?, go through some very light editing, use Akabeisoft2's new 720p. Done.
Someone should extract the Fan TL script and Sekai Project's script and compare and see how similar it is.
As far as I know it was Akabeisoft2 that didn't let Sekai Project do a kickstarter -- it wasn't their choice. Hence why they might've wanted to botch it on purpose, hoping for Akabeisoft2 to change their minds and let them kickstart their other games later.
It wasn't on purpose. It happened because they were messing the scripting on the game for the Steam release and they changed some code that caused "!?" to appear instead of "maou".
It might just be that they're hurting for money at the moment and wanted a quick buck. Witch Boy failed and Narcissu isn't looking too hot at the moment. And Sound of Drop didn't sell too well either. Now that they can't rely on Winged Cloud to to pump out a new Sakura game every month or so, they had to release something to try and make some money. Press coverage will likely come in a few days when the news outlets get around to covering it.
Its dovac's fault for signing contracts which put zero obligations on frontwing side and in addition forced tl team to negotiate every little thing in game text with jp side. Kajitsu wouldn't take so much time to release if it would be typical MG contract.
Really doubt it. If the next MG localization from AliceSoft isn't Rance, it's pretty much guaranteed they'll do Escalayer. I don't see many MG staff liking NTR that much. Also, Escalayer has a game that shares characters with Haruka.
Thinking of getting a new laptop, and want to make sure it's future-proof for vns for the next several years.
Do the following specs sound sufficient?
Intel Core i7-6500U 2.5 GHz Processor
8 GB DDR3L SDRAM
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, Integrated Graphics, 1366 x 768
Windows 10, 4-hour battery life
>even though the vocals are not extensive, they did a really really good job with them, especially for how heavily repeated a lot of them are. Not much outside of the combat, porn and the key story scenes are voiced, but all three of the girls lack the whiny, shrill attempts at being ingratiatingly cute that are so prevalent in the Japanese female VA community. They really sound that disappointed when I start them into the sex scenes. Come on, Haruka… you need more power… work with me here… On the other hand, hee "Yarimashita, Takamaru-sama!" is also dead on when you win battles and makes me smile in spite of my usual frowny self. Despite the fact that you head the same vocals over and over again for battles, I haven’t become irritated with them yet, and I consider that praise. Of course, this is from somebody who eventually had to turn off Nanashi’s system voice for Duel Savior because her "Auuuu… sayonara desuno…" always made me feel guilty when I turned off the game.
And you can also play Oyako Rankan with minimal NTR as well. I'm pretty sure only one scene is unavoidable.
Haruka has the same VA as Kanami which is why Kanami has a Haruka cosplay sex scene in Rance 03
>As stated before, we're waiting for Grisaia to be accepted before moving forward before sending in a proposal to Sony to get the game out on Vita.
This should only take forever, if they have to wait the same amount of time to hear back.
Looks like Sekai Project is trying to get existing backers for Narcissu to donate more to increase the totals.
Currently the average pledge has dropped to just under $64 a person.
None of them were spectacular, but if I use any of them it'll probably be: https://boards.fireden.net/vg/thread/120918725/#121341532
There's absolutely nothing that could be categorized as that first one in any way and I question that the dog sex can be called consensual when she's acting under hypnosis. There is one scene for each heroine where they defect because they can't get off to MC's dick anymore, those could be called NTR though I don't know how much they appeal to people into that, but nothing else.
It was around 170-something by my count, but those vary wildly in length.
Looks like our old friend has finally found a natural home for themselves on neogaf
I find it kinda amazing that he cares enough about a doujin game to bitch about it everywhere but not enough to learn japanese so he doesn't have to deal with localization. Did MG shit in his cereal or what
With everything that's actually going on in that scene, I doubt your focus is going to be on how sexy or not her sprite looks.
Once Chapter 2 is out this guy might keep being really vocal, since it's Chapter 3 that this sprite is supposed to appear in. Maybe he thinks he can still get it changed by complaining about it, but doing so would only encourage people to bitch whenever MG does something they don't like, so they'd be better off staying their course. Once Chapter 3's out, it should probably blow over anyway.
Looks like mikandi is getting into contact with siliconera/ANN/etc, but I can't help but feel they're kinda cocking this up. They should have waited until they launched their actual kickstarter to start sending out press releases especially if they plan to launch it soon. Not to mention the whole going through greenlight before launching the kickstarter and missing that free publicity.
Hey doddles, if that retard is going to be wandering around, you might want to delete twits\ask.fm answers relating to your onahole adventures
He could go digging in that shit and start spreading it around.
I don't even get the complaint
>The one on the far left is the original visual novel’s version. The one next to that one is MangaGamer’s preview of their version. The two on the right are versions that appeared in two previous remakes by a company called Alchemist.
It's not the mistake, it's the not catching it before release. Did no one read the game once all the programming/scripting was done before releasing it? How can you miss the main antagonist's name not appearing?
They cut corners, that's what happened and they deserve shit for it.
Wasn't the original sprite nude and the blue towel is photoshopped onto the image? The MG sprite just looks like it took inspiration from the original sprite more than the alchemist sprite, which I see nothing wrong with, since they had 2 references to work with.
>With everything that's actually going on in that scene, I doubt your focus is going to be on how sexy or not her sprite looks.
As a lolicon I can't help but look at young girls in various states of undress no matter where they may be.
If you set aside all his raving about how the evil pedos are coming to molest children I honestly do think that from a stylistic perspective it could be toned down considerably.
You can generally expect less H-scenes in story vns, but nukige (sex focused) vns and fanservice eroge tend to have more H scenes and many can occur within very little time of each other.
You guys are as ignorant as the people you're making fun of. Have none of you actually read Higurashi?
The situation is as follows (major Higurashi ep3 spoilers):
Satoko was in the bath because her abusive uncle told her to stay there, even though she's getting some pretty severe hyperthermia. Keiichi heard her uncle was still alive even though he killed him, so he heads to their house to re-kill the uncle with an axe (covered up with newspaper to not stand out), and ends up discovering Satoko on the verge of losing consciousness. (Up to this point, no Satoko sprite is shown.) He helps her out of the bath and decides to take her to the clinic, but because the heat affected her skin she can't put on her clothes or anything else to wear, so she takes a towel with her to not be completely naked. (Enter Satoko with a towel sprite. Note that she's not actually 'wearing' the towel, she's just holding it; having it brush against her skin would defeat the entire point.) Satoko is delirious during the entire scene.
Along the way, they find a well with Rika's chopped-up corpse inside. A short while later, while they're near the bridge, a gust of wind blows away Keiichi's newspaper and reveals the axe he was carrying. The already confused and paranoid Satoko draws the wrong conclusion and starts panicking. This eventually ends with Satoko pushing Keiichi off the bridge, him barely hanging on and her stomping on his hands until he lets go. At some point during this scuffle, she drops her towel, more concerned with protecting her life than with not being naked (the original version has a naked Satoko sprite for this).
Non-spoiler version: Satoko has towel and non-sexual naked sprite in the original. Having her wrap the towel around her body makes zero sense in context.
I agree. The new sprite looks pretty sexy (something I'd normally welcome), which doesn't really fit Satoko's character and especially not in this scene, where it becomes clearer than ever that she's a vulnerable child. And with a design like that, having a naked sprite definitely wouldn't fly, while her dropping her towel significantly adds to the original scene.
Still, it's better than the other two sprites, which just makes absolutely zero sense in context. She looks like she just had a good long bath and is kind of tired now.
Well, she DID have a good long bath, but...
I doubt Steam would've allowed a naked child sprite even if it was less "sexy".
Everything that needs to be covered is covered in MG's sprite, so it's fine. The problem I see is the ask.fm response the MG staff member gave that that guy keeps posting everywhere.
I don't think Steam cares about anything that looks like a doll. It is roughly as pornographic as buying a brats doll at toys r'us and be in the middle of changing clothes.
That said, nothing surprise me with the fear of drawings. Something you can look at is clearly worse than something you can touch.
hey anons, does anybody know where I can find a walkthrough for Kara no Shojo 2? Or paths for all endings?
I've completed 7 of the 11 endings, including the true ending, but I just can't figure out the rest of them.
Great, so they lowered it to match the Grisaia TRILOGY, when the first game itself is longer than Libra is. Plus, Grisaia being a well-regarded and well-known vn in the west.
They obviously don't understand how to do localization with a budget in mind, so this is beginning to look it's going to be a botched attempt.
After reading Libra reviews, I gave up on even trying to read game myself. It sounds like very bad Draculius ripoff.
Every route is same and clearing one is going to spoil other ones entirely and make them very boring.
Fighting scenes are terrible, with very bad pacing, annoyingly long and repeating special effects, and same scheme over and over (protag rushing in w/out any plan, being completely defeated, then waking up his hidden vampire superpowers and causing trouble to everyone. Every damn time.)
And then game cannot even deliver in terms of romance, since it can't decide whether being pure love story or harem story, jumping back and forth between these two points.
>And then game cannot even deliver in terms of romance, since it can't decide whether being pure love story or harem story, jumping back and forth between these two points.
Isn't that every single harem story ever?
No. Usually harems are harems, with protag just fucking everybody without choosing one heroine.
Here he chooses one, promises to stay faithful to her, but still fucks other girls and then refuses to consider them his lovers, but also refuses to let them go.
