Ask a guy with 97 guns anything

Recently, I've been wondering why Mannlicher actions went on the wayside and Mauser actions took over.
While I understand that Mannlicher actions almost always used enbloc clips instead of the superior stripper clips, but this was fixed in the last rifle action he designed, the Mannlicher-Schoenauer. This action, despite only being used militarily by Greece, seems to have been quite successful, as it was used as a base for many custom rifles.
So why did this action not stand the test of time like the Mauser?
Expense, limited manufacturing capability, prior proliferation of Mausers, reliability.
I have a Greek Mannlicher, and while it's smooth as fuck, it's not as good as a Mauser.
Also, several Mannlicher style rifles use stripper clips. The 35m and the 88/05 to name 2.
Why does russia have barely any modern tanks?
>have shit tones of T-80 and T-72
>entire country collapses
>have no money to buy or develop newer tanks
Gee I wonder why.
Let's say you go hiking and notice a hungry bear approaching you, (you retreat but the fucker is stalking you) and you don't want to end up like the cuck in the pic related, would 9mm, 135 or 147grain be enough to stop it? (all i got is sigp226). (hydra shok or hst). Any tips as to where to aim? I am not going to curl into a fucking ball or use any gay bells, def. not gonna let it come within the reach of even gayer bear pepper spray which i wouldnt use either.
Not a gun person, in fact I hate guns and weapons and people have no need for them whatsoever.
I just want to know what this is worth, my dad passed away and it will be sold depending on value, if not it will be destroyed.
which is the better handgun maker between sig, glock and H&K?
HK is top. Sig is probably #2, but when they have problems, the guns totally fail. When Glocks have problems, you just get a sprinkler pattern ejection of brass. A problematic Glock doesn't fall into pieces while you are shooting it.
Boeing will grow larger.
A deal for Kuwait for up to 40 Super Hornets (28 + 12 options) and up to 72 Strike Eagles for Qatar (36 +36 options) has been approved.
Name them off
I'm still waiting for an example of a genocide that was actually successful.
The US has a notable lack of organic anti-air assets. If the US were to engage any military with ground attack aircraft, the casualties would be severe.
Why doesn't the US have battalion level air-defense?
Current fleet size is completely inadequate. The ships we have are being pushed too hard. No other nation has the number of maritime commitments the US has.
That said you don't need 350 (I think the report Trump is using as the basis for this plan put required ship numbers in the 320-340 range), but it's not an obscenely large amount either, considering.
So /k/, I want to build a trap. but I dont want to make just any trap, I want to build a non-lethal trap that can capture large game. Specifically, I want to build a trap to trap traps. How would one go about designing such a thing?
Currently own: Ruger mark 1 standard, double barrel 12ga, Remington single shot .22, and a Springfield 1903 30-06.
If you were me, what would your next gun purchase be?
Hey there /k/, is it a bad idea to cast fishing weights to bullets? if so, what sort of lead should i be looking for to get into casting?
>Is it a bad idea to cast some janky ass shit into something I want to rotate at high speeds with stability
Just buy lead. Better yet, just buy bullets. Casting isn't as simple as
>Pour into mold
>receive desired result
well, i'm aware that you need to remove impurities, and you need to lubricate the bullets, but my question mainly lies with the idea that fishing weights may be too soft for bullets. thoughts?
>"I'm interested in learning things!"
>"You're stupid. Stop trying to learn things!"
This FN M249S is only a semi auto, so one shot per pull of the trigger. Could I make a robot that rapid fires the trigger so it fires at the rate of a full auto? Help me come up with some shitty ways to do this /k/.
Yes, but if your robot can be activated with a single button press then you're back to square one.
Maybe let the robot take any number of button presses with any timing, then queue them up and read them in at a rate that matches the gun's ROF. Then you're still doing one round per trigger pull
Did the technology required to manufacture assault rifles exist during WW2? Why did it take so long for them to get adopted in large numbers?
>Did the technology required to manufacture assault rifles exist during WW2?
The technology to create Assault Rifles existed since WWI, if not before. The reason why they weren't widely adopted is because of doctrine that demanded long range precision from every rifleman. Once Germany finally realized that Fritz and Jerry don't really shoot past 300 yards all that often the Assault Rifle was born. The Soviets caught on to this rather quickly while NATO (read: 'Murrika) thought that intermediate cartridges were fake and gay, which is why they didn't adopt them for another generation.
Looking to buy my first gun. Already decided to get a pistol. Have an older male friend who served in the marines. He says i should definetly get a revolver and stay away from anything with a mag. He says this is because there is always a chance of the gun jamming or some other kind of mechanical failure.
My question is, is this a real concern or is he just a revolver fanboy.
Also, any good revolver recommendations?
there's also the chance of you having a blood clot in your system that you dont know about, and the force of the recoil could dislodge it and immediately kill you
guess you shouldn't get a gun bro
also marines are retarded
Revolvers are great in their own right, but a semi-auto pistol is superior in most regards, especially for new shooters. Just get something decent and take care of it and you will likely never have a moment of trouble. And by decent I don't mean expensive. I mean a good gun.
I need to defend my beer from my fucking asshole roommate. What is the best way to protect my 21st Amendment right?
>I just got home from work edition
These threads are the epitome of anonymous narcissism
The solution to new California legislation.
Introducing the GASR, Garand Action Sporting Rifle.
No detachable magazines, may even take enbloc clips, or strippers.
What do you think /k/ is this a viable idea, or am i just a faggot?
>Well, well. What do we have here?
>An anon trying to sneak into the James D Julia auction house.
>For your hubris, I will now kill you and claim it as self-defense.
>nothing personnel, kid
>Since I, Ian McCollum, am a honorable man, I'll let you choose the implement for your execution.
>So, what will it be?
How has no small or large american country or single american individual figured this out? Even worse, north korea figured it out. Only acceptable answer is that it is extremely difficult to come up with a reliable design and the norks are either using a bullshit piece of shit or a 10 round mag with a big empty steel pipe on the end.
idk man, capacity is unknown, likely 90 but could be more. looks pretty fuckin huge.
the whole point is its the mag that stays in your gun so when its time to shoot its time to shoot. rumor is Kimmy's only worry is a bunch of coup niggas or starvin niggas rushing him so his personal guard carries these for extreme magdumps.
looks more comfy than a shitty chicom 75rd drum too.
Wanting to know why the majority of guns are right handed?
Who /blackfriday/ here? It's going to be my first black friday actually staking out gun/ammo deals online. Are there any websites that usually do decent deals? I'm hoping for some .22/9mm/maybe a .22 target pistol of some sort.
>Come home from work
>PSA has new .50 cal ammo cans for 8 bucks with free shipping
>Out of stock
>33rd glock brand glockazines for 25 bucks free shipping
>Out of stock
Fuck black friday right in the ass I'm salty as fuck I already missed it.
Black Friday is next Friday my dear sir, not today.
PSA will usually do some. I'd keep an eye on AIM too, but I can't recall if they did a BF deal yesterday.
Big box store stuff is already up on Slickguns if you're into that. There's some really solid deals to be had if you're willing to chase those discounted Cabela's gift cards that keep showing up on eBay and have a local store nearby.
You vets, how many times have you or anyone in your unit actually pulled out and used a handgun in a firefight?
A question popped into my head a while ago balancing the two: it's better to have one than not vs you could carry more ammo for your long-gun for the weight and space of your sidearm and its ammo.
Not saying it's not important to train with both, just a question.
Your basic Infantryman isn't issued one. Period. SNCOs and officers are.
Machine gunners sometimes get them, but often units don't give them one either. The secondary handgun thing is primarily a meme perpetuated by video games.
Source: was a gruntfag
Nobody really wants one anyways. It's just more weight, and there's few good places to put a holster. Drop legs wobble around, your belt is covered by your flak, and the front of your flak gets dragged through the dirt when you prone (plus taking your flak off once you get back in the wire then becomes more complicated)
>Russians launched Iskander against Georgia
>Americans did not notice this
Is it correct to assume that Americans will also not see or notice China's superior DF-21 when it is launched? I've heard Americans saying that ballistic missiles will be noticed immediately and is cause for nuclear war but Russians launch them with impunity.
So if your shirt happens to go up and exposes your gun while carrying in pic related position, how easy is it for somebody to run/sneak up behind you and disarm you?
I mean there is really no active retention on my holster, I have a crossbreed.
Which is better, in your opinion, /k/? Personally, I like the Makarov better. Sorry if this is Newfaggish as hell, by the way.
A 300 dollar makarov is of a higher quality than a 300 dollar 1911
I just got back my 35mm film that I was shooting there.
