So I was thinking, typical gun sights are shit because you have to line them up in the right orientation, but could't we make a sight that wraps around the barrel (top and both sides) so that you could fire the gun at any angle? pic related
>typical gun sights are shit because you have to line them up in the right orientation
No anon, if you didn't do that, you would miss the target. What you described is an effective method of predicting the trajectory of the projectile. Wrapping the sights around the barrel would, one, cost more to manufacture, and two, be fucking retarded.
That being said, I appreciate that you think outside of the box, and you should continue doing so.
wat. Since the front sight is essentially a line, how the fuck do you select a point on it when aiming at a target? With conventional front sights, they come to a point (or nearly so), and you put that point on your target. Where is the point on an arch? Preposterous.
>mfw /k/ can't into aiming
Cool idea, OP. But I've got an even wilder one that's bound to blow your mind!
Typical bullets are shit, because they can only hit one part of the target. What if we made big hoop-shaped bullets, that would cut big bloody sausages out of whoever they hit???
>you sound this stupid
I have this strange idea that if you're firing your gun and you don't have time to look down a regular sight properly, pinpoint accuracy probably isn't your biggest concern.
It's certainly a novel idea, though. Points for that.
OP, you need to stop trying to be creative. It just doesn't work for you. Endeavor to be completely conventional in every way possible, because that's the only way you'll succeed at anything. I'm trying to come up with an analogy for how assmangled your creative process is, but I'm drawing a blank. Go back to playing with your glue and macaroni.
Umm the blue one wait it's dark... the number oo sorry I can't see
Darn it's been knocked out of alignment again...
Let's make something to get caught on stuff
Time to rotate rifle for good picture very short, time to count little numbers or match colors a lot more
Also It covers up some field of view with this thing...
And it's gonna cover fixtures on firearm. Safety, bolt handle etc... Try making a mockup out of cardboard for the rear one and see what I mean..
No. It's a retarded idea. You're trying to "fix" something that isn't broken. Conventional sights are great, just learn how to fucking use them rather than trying to mame some dipshit contraption to compensate for your faggotry.
but what if one breaks
gotta have backups for each position
In relation to the gun, yes. Would the sites still be accurate in such a scenario? No, as the plane it's supposed to be sighted for has now been rotated 90 degrees, which fucks everything up.
>No, as the plane it's supposed to be sighted for has now been rotated 90 degrees, which fucks everything up.
no, the side sights are sighted in for when the rifle is twisted and they're on top
OP here again, i've wracked my brain for an hour or so. I think we're almost at a solution
so the deal is OP doesn't understand that sights are adjustable, and doesn't realize that adjusting sights is a thing. and he's having trouble learning to fire his father's SKS, look at the MSpaint pics
>sideways or slightly cocked and still utilize the sights
...I did this all the time in Afghanistan with my iron sights...........
You're right, I don't get it at all. Hell I used the weapon tilted nearly 90 and still used the iron sights just fine
hey guys he was in the army he knows what he's talking about
It's time to put down the bong and monsters and get some sleep, OP.
Like a wrap around EO tech.
Muhreen fag here, 0331, I canted my M4 while shooting with a flack and Kevlar on. Using a RCO it works perfectly fine. I was on target every time I utilized this technique.
Or just have sights that are on a gyroscopic setup, so whenever you rotate the gun the sights will turn to match the angle of the gun so they would always be on top of the gun and always aligned.
This is more or less a proof of concept I think you'll all agree
Front sight would have to be free to turn also. Im saying just like normal sights that are free to rotate, not the donut sights like op.
Magazine would have a rear sight on it obviously.
But what if we make it so the gyro sights arent actually touching the gun, but are also free floating by magnets and shit?
Pic is directed at myself so nobody gets offended lol
this whole goddamn thread is just fuck
>walk into fun store
>ask worker if he has any guns with a tight anus
I can't stop fucking laughing
sorry OP, it's always like this: just when you think you've struck gold, turns out the goddamn Germans thought of it first
get with the times man
rammstien, mein neger
You would look straight retarded, but they did something similar to this way back when lever action was new I think, it was a sort of adjuster for distance and I think anyone that understands that you're not going to be attacking someone with a 357. or 44. at great distances took them off and used the more pistol like sights
Fantastic thread you've got here OP, 10/10.
The swivel would have to be notched at each position because even moving the rear aperture around just a little bit can fuck everything up.
Also it can break loose. You're hilarious OP, keep thinking outside the box.
I gave it some more thought last night. I think were reaching the peak of what we need.
>What is a reflector sight?
>strap sight to weather balloon
>loosen your grip a tiny bit
>rifle flies into the sky
>enemy and friendly combatants alike stop what they're doing to stare at the Godly rifle floating into the heavens
.....I have a solution to your original query OP...
>have Visor with HUD or some google glass type shit, even those Oakley goggles with a HUD
>have some sort of POV sensor on rifle that interfaces with your visor goggle monocle thing
>Reticle in HUD is always showing where rifle is aiming
