ISIS Suffers Disastrous Defeat in Deir Ezzor
ITT: russian airforce saved their asses
Free propaganda por the moderate terrorists lol
>Russia strikes ISIS in Palmyra
>NATO says it dosn't believes Russian explanation for violating Turkey
>Russia calling the west out on not having any real substitute for Assad
>Clinton, Cotton, McCain & Fiorina Suggest No-Fly Zones Against Russia & Syria
>USA fear that Russia is getting ready for a potential ground campaign
>In what amounts to an serious escalation of the rhetoric, Nato calls on Russia to end all strikes on civilians&opposition
This is a thread for Syria you dumb ass.
>Russia strikes ISIS in Palmyra
I hope they got the ones who placed the explosives used to destroy the arches.
>Putin and ObamaBots gtfo edition
Lets try to put unbiased and uninformed opinions about the war out of here. We are here to discuss who is going to win when taking logistics, weapons, and alliances, not politics.
ISIS idf pls go and stay go. If there is anything worse on /k/ is that asshole who posts gore on /k/. Fuck that asshole.
Still waiting on what happened at Deir Ezzor.
Put #deirezzor in twitter if you want to follow live. 4 hours ago a VBIED crashed the front gate of the airbase after all day clashes. Pro IS source says IS has breached the base. Nothing new from either side for the last 4 hours.
I love set piece battles like this. Fortified airbase with excellent terrain, defenses, and airpower vs crazed heavily armed suicidal zerg rushes. This is some good action.
The airbase? It has a large group of SAA republican guard on it. I don't know the exact number. IS capturing the base would a disaster for the SAA as some of their best units would be decapitated by IS and the rest of the city would fall. That's a strategic loss.
However at this time the SAA and their star General Zahreddine have be able to defend the base as it's on a cliff in parts surrounded by minefields. They have decided to hold out against endless waves of IS fanatics and so far they have.
>Islamic State kills 22 in attacks on Yemen government, Gulf troops, mosque
The Saudis are having a rough campaign.
Seems like they keep catching flak from the Houthis and ISIL
SUpposeddly shows spetsnaz assult in syria.
Can anyone translate?
I read it already that was from yesterday not today or tonight and the number of IS killed in Deir Zour was closer to 40 or 50.
The only grain of truth is if you add up all IS deaths from two separate fronts in Syria it would equal 150 because the YPG killed a bunch of them yesterday morning in Hasakah province.
This is just gold.
>SUpposeddly shows spetsnaz assult in syria.
>Can anyone translate?
This is one the BEST videos I've seen coming from Syria! Thank you anon! Really fucking AWESOME!
I'm learning russian and my russian is not good but he mentioned that Spetsnaz snipers are active in the area but have not shown them in the video.
Everyone here should watch that video... it's not the idiotic "aloha snackbar" video that 99% of videos on here are getting posted.
>DEM drone shots man. Like a hyper realistic RTS.
yeah, that was fucking AWESOME! it didn't even feel like a war zone! I also enjoyed NV shots. It was clearly shot through a NV tube of some kind (maybe even a rifle scope) but they didn't show exactly what it was.
OK, I managed to rip that 5min+ video. It's 85MB or so.
Can anyone ID this rifle? Also this guy is wearing one of those US specops ballistic helmets.
Accuracy International AWM sniper rifle. Go check out Oryx blog post titled "Syrian Special Forces spotted with British Accuracy International AWM sniper rifles" I can't figure out how to get the url past the spam blocker
Vague new information in Deir Zour. Pro rebel(not IS) post of continued clashes around the airbase early this morning with heavy SAA/IS shelling, heavy weapons being used.
Pro rebel source is saying ISIS is being silent about the combat around the airbase right now. This to me means either they just suffered a large mount of casualties and do not want to talk about it or they want a media blackout on their movements. Either could be true.
99% of those videos are some retard yelling "snackbar snackbar snackbar snackbar" while he films some billowing smoke with his potato cam. It's totally worthless footage.
In this video you can see SAA special forces, tanks, drone footage and battlefield, night vision shots... all in in HD
>Bumping with a new hell cannon video
what group are these idiots with? they ain't hitting shit with that thing. they're just exposing their position so they can be hit back with tanks or sniper fire.
Samefag here, SOHR with similar information although SOHR is a hour earlier than the new post they claim mutual shelling and casualties on both sides.
Ho ho ho this is getting good.
this image appears to be true... VICE news talks with Nusra terrorist who was treated at an Israeli hospital:
WTF is going on in ME? Israelis are now helping Al Qaeda?!?!
>>Clinton, Cotton, McCain & Fiorina Suggest No-Fly Zones Against Russia & Syria
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpeBlOGxSqw [Embed] [Embed]
That is truly pathetic. I want to vote for Trump even more now.
Some vids I watched...
Russian airbase in Syria... even has a sauna... russian lang.. didnt understand shit but it was cool to watch:
Syrian army dropping those leaflets (the one in this thread), propaganda operations, tank ops:
In this vid, I think, they're saying that Americans completely blocked off GPS in Syria and only GLONASS works:
in the vid above you can also see one of their command centers...
finally Bro Nathanael analyzes the situation.. he likes Trump too it seems:
oy vey the russians have (bread) ovens and steam chamber anotha shoah
Hell cannons can fuck shit up if they can get close and spend time walking in rounds. With the many static frontlines in Syria this happens a lot. Hell cannons are a damn good weapon by improvised Syrian standards
>that shit eating grin on McCain's face when he suggests giving "FSA" stingers
he's not even hiding it tbh
Also the subtext is amazingly clear. It's not that the FSA are the good guys, its that another country DARES to have a foreign policy that isn't in line with Obongo's retardation. That's literally whats triggering all this, there is no regard or thought for actual policy in event Assad were to be taken out.
russians fly too high for them to work. plus the law of unintended consequences is just too great... they'd sell them to someone or they'd use them themselves to shoot down US airliners. also, russians would "lose" a bunch of Iglas too in Yemen or some other ME country.
It is a civil war. After everything is said and done, the ex-rebels will still need to be repatriated into the country. That being said, I get the feeling this is more of a move out of desperation than it is out of kindness or foresight.
>Heavy airstrikes+artillery preparation fire on #KafrNabudah, #KfarZita + #Lataminah. #SAA offensive expected. #Syria
SAA/russians are getting ready for offensive...
I hope the SAA has a reserve force because the first wave supposedly lost at least 4 tanks.
After the rain of Russian bombs apparently it was raining TOWs.
Don't lose hope yet pro Assads the Northern Hama attack is still ongoing. One of the biggest SAA offensive's I have seen in a long time. The Russians planned it too as a version of their deep battle. They are attacking on a wide front.
That said pro rebel sources are whispering to each other that it looks like some of the SAA convoy's got wholesale mascaraed on one of the axis.
>Obama authorizes resupply of Syrian opposition
On the Hama offensive? Everyone covering Syria on twitter lite up when the airstrikes started. The account of SAA convoys being demolished are all the usual pro rebel twitters. Nothing is confirmed yet.
we will see the videos soon if its true.
Anyway, first video of airstrikes on hama this morning
How the fuck they still have internet connection to upload this...
>Anyway, first video of airstrikes on hama this morning
that guy, like most of these islamist subhumans, is fucking retarded. all he does is repeat one sentence 100 fucking times in 4 min of the video.
anyway, that was a lot of airstrikes. those planes flew really high too.. you couldn't hear them in video at all.
I'm pretty sure its pic related
I can't find any news of SAA progress from the pro regime sources after the initial shelling, not even from leith fadel.
If you find something you are more than welcomed to post it.
too much fallout. don't worry, they have something almost as bad.. vacuum bombs. that shit will fry you, suffocate you and if you're one of the unlucky ones, it will turn your insides out. it's extremely nasty.
According to the reporter no Speznaz forces were shown in the video. He said they were used to pinpoint enemy snipers and reconnaissance as well as some fighting.
The video has some general information regarding the situation in Damascus suburbs.
He is showing a night offensive by the forces stationed there, claiming success. He speaks about how the night attack was superseded by a constant aerial bombardment for a few days, but that the enemy is entranced in tunnels.
Then in the morning he said the enemy launched a counter offensive, but the troops there were ready for this.
In the closing interview and words, he says that even though the attack is going well, the enemy can stop it any time simply by moving their forces and attacking a different point, which would force the troops there to stop the offensive to send fighters there.
not a word for word, but in general that's what's going on.

> "Head of SAA"
the one on the left :
> Al nusra terrorists, mercenaries of murica and israel
It has nothing to do with who is supporting who
It is all about:
1. Russia did not ask permission
2. Russian is supporting the man the US painted as a "villan" for the last 5 years - yet Russia has won global public support for this
3. This is the 3rd time Russia has bitched Obama on the Syrian crisis (specifically)
4. (Issue only the truly long sighted politicians are worried about) This builds Russia's "strong man" status and helps them facilitate their Eurasian Economic Union (local) and their image as an alternative to the US (global)
>the ammount of manpower and material that will be freed up when that salient is removed
Come on SAA give us a big win
>i reckon its too soon for a big push anywhere though
>SAA should have just locked it down for the winter and focused on reforming with russian gear and retraining with Russian brains for a big push in spring/summer
I don't know. Committing some forces for a push seems reasonable.
Waiting till winter is over is going to give the rebels time to adapt to the new weapons and aerial bombardments. To learn the limitations of the Russian air force.
I think trying to shove while the enemy is off balance is a good idea, as long as you don't over commit.
He was talking about syrian spetsnaz (which just means special forces of any country, like SEALS would be called "Spetsnaz of the military-naval fleet of the United States" )of the detecting enemy snipers.
Do they have access to MPADS? I'm seriously considering never flying again....
From Robert Baer's See no Evil:
>"We have buried in Ghuta, near the Damascus airport, an SA-7 missile," he said matter-of-factly, as if telling me he'd planted a bed of petunias in his garden back home. "What we need is for you to inform us when Assad's airplane is ready to take off and he is on it."
I remember reading in one of Robert Baers books that back in the day the muslim brotherhood had buried one near an airport and wanted the CIA to tell them what plane a president was on so they could take it out
>I'm seriously considering never flying again
Don't worry, this shit cant hit an Airliner
There was a sizable amount of man portable AA missiles in Syria a few years back. But seems like most of them were used up and they had no resupply.
They still have a few left, but it seems like the SyAF is flying slow helicopters on pretty low altitudes, without being shot down, pretty regularly.
I'm hearing reports that there is a SAA offensive being undertaken in Northern Homs and nearby areas in the Ldlib province.
Somewhere around Kafr Nabudaj? I've only seen tabloid's reporting this, can anyone else confirm this?
>most of them were used up and they had no resupply
Don't worry, obama is taking care of it
memes aside, the US was supplying the Kurds and some opposition groups for a while. But never with AA missiles. It would be a major policy shift if they do now.
The lack of portable AA missiles also suggests (in my opinion) the US forced Saudis and Qatar to not supply such either.
>Shoigu: Four Russian ships carried 26 missile launches by the IG in Syria.
DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) - Syrian official: Syrian troops launch ground offensive amid Russian airstrikes
Homs offensive confirmed.
The intensity of the Russian air strikes on terrorist targets "Islamic state" in Syria is growing. This was during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin told Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
>Russian missiles fired from the caspian sea have hit targets in Syria
wtf mate isnt that like two thousand miles away? what did they use?
Four Russian Navy warships have fired a total of 26 missiles at the position of the terrorist group Islamic State in Syria, Russia’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced. The missiles were fired from the Caspian Sea.
“Four missile ships launched 26 cruise missiles at 11 targets. According to objective control data, all the targets were destroyed. No civilian objects sustained damage,” Shoigu said.
The missiles flew some 1,500 km before reaching their targets, probing their efficiency.
>Russian navy now getting in on the action
Heavy intensity shit, maybe the SAA offensive is going to be more broad then first thought
> The missiles flew some 1,500 km before reaching their targets, probing their efficiency.
Do the ships from the Casspian flottila even have cruise missiles that can strike from so far? From what I found out the Buyan's and Gepards dont have a such a weapon. I smell BS.
They have tomahawk-like missiles.
3M-14 - DOD designation SS-N-30A. An Inertial guidance land attack variant deployed by the Russian Navy. The submarine-launched weapon has a basic length of 6.2 m (20 ft), with a 450 kg (990 lb) warhead. Its range is 1,500–2,500 km (930–1,550 mi). Its subsonic terminal speed is Mach 0.8.
3M-14T - DOD designation SS-N-30A; is the Inertial guidance land attack variant which is deployed by the Russian Navy. A surface ship with VLS launched missile, with thrust vectoring booster, its basic length is 8.9 m (29 ft), its warhead weight and other performance are the same as the 3M-14.
Enough Ruskie shitposting, recent confirmed events
-IS took 5 Iraqi army bases in Baiji and the city is about to fall completely into IS hands
-DeZ still at a stalemate, with a few IS probes here and there, conflicting claims as the SAA claims to have killed "hundreds" of IS fighters while IS as posted pics from the city recently. I'm going to assume an IS assault on the airport itself stalled and was destroyed but we'll have to see what happens in the coming days
-New video from IS, Wilayat al-Furat, has some nice shit; link
Forgot pic, fucking IS ear protection. I bet he's listening to Ice Cube or something.
Uh sorry guys, I was checking the Wiki a bit fast, but didn't see the ace of Klubs on it's armament. Thanks for the info.
How would such a launch work with Iran? They would have to announce it way before to the Iranian armed forces right? Cause it can't be really pleasant to have cruise missiles just chilling and cruising across your territory.
>Cruising over Iraq
i get the feeling if arabs werent so fucking obsessed with allah they'd be better at fighting. They literally have to snackbar at fucking everything and it impedes their mindset.
Should have been nukes tbh. End this whole shitshow known as the Middle East.
Almost unlimited ATGM supplies help a lot. Anyway, the other day rebel sources said that SAA lost 60 tanks and
they didnt even have 60 tanks in all the province. So waiting for snackbaring videos
THE FUCKING LOGO
THIS IS JUST TOO GOOD
Videos of today's offensive (terrorists side)

mil mi 24 providing CAS for advancing SAA troops. Just me or too risky?
>red hot chili peppers
I gave up on Kremlology for ages ago. It's just not possible to understand the place with Western methods.
Can someone explain to me why the russians are taking the risk of flying attack helicopters over terrorist invested buildings?
Or are they really that confident they are in complete control?
S-stay s-safe aeropureeno-chan. ;__;
Ai wo oboete!
That was me who mentioned the "60 tanks" and I was talking about the SAA offensive to break the IS Keweris siege a week ago.
I never said 60 tanks were destroyed. I said the SAA brought in 60 tanks for the offensive and it boggled my mind why they couldn't make any progress with 60 tanks.
Later on the real number turned out to be 40 tanks and not 60 but the SAA offensive stalled out regardless.
anyway since I passed out during the beginning of the north Hama offensive and just now got back on it appears all the talk of SAA armor taking loses is true. Pro rebel sources are claiming they inflicted heavy casualties on SAA armor when they advanced.
Pro regime sources said the SAA took Lataminah but that is being disputed.
All that said I doubt this is how the SAA envisioned their first offensive backed by "official" Russian airpower.
Russian ground troops burn Syrian village with TOS 1
Syrians would need at least "Advisers"
German media already reporting about it
they reported the same during the Ukrain-Russian war...
and the Russian lying until today about it ..
Interesting report from the Russian defense chief of the Russians shooting cruise missiles from the Capsian sea.
The TOW hit the pole infront of it, then they went into a panic mode when several BMPs and infantry came after the T-62.
>ATGM vs tank.
Seems like they failed to kill the tank but got a exterior fuel tank.
>Mil mi 24
Risky but that's it's job. If it got decent support and no serious AA danger then most will survive.
Russia will need an imperial fuckton of ground grunts if it wants to keep Syria. It's just a question of how much it can assign resources because China is in it for the loots in the Central Asia too. This move may well end up making Russia A LOT more vulnerable to China and the US and EU want absolute jack shit to do in this conflict, but keep their own bases clear.
I think him spamming flares and flying so low is to some extent the reason rebels are low on Manpads.
He's probably baiting AA fire and Manpad launches so his buddies at 3km+ can bomb them
Watching LACMs being launched and flying in a beautiful formation gives me such a fucking hard hardon!
Russians are putting on quite a show! I had no idea I'd enjoy watching all this new tech so much. It's quite diff from the US tech we've been seeing for the past 15 years of various wars.
Heavy and drunk: Putins French super weapon
I think bunga bunga is a superior tactic to employ.
But when have it happend? The fuel system is probally designed so it wont explode just like that and it dont have the power to trow the turret, only enough to burn everything.
And tanks dont explode because the fuel sytem went full of fire, it explodes because the munitions stored inside went full fire.
>I had no idea I'd enjoy watching all this new tech so much.
It was a fucking parade tovarich, everybody is drunk in a parade, even the missiles
The only bad mix is exploading propellent and HE rounds.
Fuel itself can not trow a turret.
Hopefully Russia don't send ground troops at any point. I imagine what's left of the SAA and whatever Iran can send should be enough. Russia leading the offensive would be a horrible mistake, and would end up just like Afghanistan I imagine.
>and would end up just like Afghanistan I imagine
Dont think so. They are not fighting a insurgency.
In afghanistan they did not hold ground. In Syria they hold ground so it will be kinda easy.
Where do the Kurds play into the whole civil war situation? Have they simply secured Kurdish Syria? Are they fighting against the government and rebels or what? What's Russia's stance on them, if any? Assad's stance on them?
In a change up from the TOW videos from today in this video rebels claiming to have captured a T-72 tank in the Hama offensive.
What a disaster for the SAA. They couldn't even move forward after a heavy Russian air bombardment.
It's not like ISIS are going to give up the time tested advantage of fighting against a foreign enemy (which is sinking and blending into the civilian population) and face the Russian offensive head on. ISIS know they cannot defend their currently held areas in a conventional conflict so what else can happen other than have the conflict descend into insurgency?
Well this time they got allies that want to fight with them.
And they must have learnt something from afghanistan and they have experience from chechnya.
Srian army will make further progress on another axis in the Hama countryside north, controls the town Kvrenbaudh and village changer East Castle strait, and Tel rock northeast changer, and Tel Osman western town Kvrenbaudh in Hama countryside north.
Syrian army controls the villages of Markph and thirsty and hill Skaik and Ahoir Brief.
you mean here?. If this is the best they can show for today this is really bad. It isn't even out of a disputed zone pre offensive.
>Oh I'm enjoying it, beautiful filming from RT especially. I was just questioning their reasoning.
Demonstration of force and sales presentation. They can reach anyone between Rome and Kabul from the Caspian with conventional warheads, and they want them to remember that.
I got a couple more minutes so i'm still here. Last I heard there was a SAA counter attack in Quneitra backed by heavy artillery but no word on if they regained anything.
I have no information to say otherwise. On Latmin rebels posted videos of them there as video proof the SAA didn't take it.
I'll be here when the early morning starts in Syria to follow up.
>Who cares as long as they can't hit either Washington
Looks like they accomplished one of three of their major objectives in the first day.
Very nice but now we need to see if they can destroy the salient or at the least hold their gains.
Is this how it's going to be?
First red operations, then blue ones and finally Kafr Zita?
The Russians don't need to save the troops at Deir Ezzor; the Republican Guard stationed there have dug in and defeated numerous ISIS assaults. I don't think the Russians are even operating that far east yet anyway. This is the general in charge there.
This offensive is on going as of now, so far it looks like the SyAA has made good progress but at high cost, they might be able to make up for it if they keep rolling on though.
Interesting as it's the first time we've seen Russian hinds operating alongside the Syrians.
There's a good thread on leddit's r/SyrianCivilWar if anyone's interested. People are saying the rebel's claims might be exaggerated but it's too early to tell.
>rebel's claims might be exaggerated
I think they very well are. I seriously doubt the rebel claims of not losing an inch of ground to this combined SAA/Russian steamroller.
I think the captured t-72 with kontakt-1 was probably the only good news for the rebels.
Destroying a dozen or so militia T-55s and T-62s isn't much of an accomplishment when the SAA has warehouses filled with the damn things.
Some TOW strikes worth posting from Hama
I've heard about 8 vehicles taken from the SAA, 7 destroyed and one captured. Seemed to me like the most accurate count, taking into account the rebels are saying 18-20 and the government supporters 2-3.
Not all videos showing the hits are kills btw. On these last 2 webms they managed to hit the fuel tanks on the left and right side behind the gunner but that is not as usual as it sounds.
>Why are they so shit at armoured warfare?
The same reason Israel got BTFO in Lebanon.
Except the moderate terrorists have an endless supply of TOW-2s and the Syrian armor is much older.
if it's a sound hit though most of the time you can sort of assume the tank is compromised no?
I'm sure there's lucky chances of nothing being really effected, but something is taking some kind of damage.
ITT: Durkas and their fanboys getting BTFO.
It is a single hot projectile "spike" that penetrates the armor so it might just hit someone on the leg or bounce off, or not penetrate at all, or penetrate some damaging nothing other than the armor itself.
I thought that it was going to be worse for the saa after the pro rebel news and the few atgm videos.
Wow. Lucky bastard. 5 more seconds and he would be dead too
So... tomorrow morning MORE russian shit from the sky I suppose?
Caviar Italian brand announced the publication of a set of iPhone OS 6 phones of titanium and gold on the occasion of birth of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Those TOWs are lethal, probably the best weapons the rebels have.
One of the conditions of the American TOW programme is that every launch has to be recorded so that they can keep track of who's hands the missiles end up in, so every launch ends up on youtube too.
Looks like a T-62, I assume that the fuel system on the T-62 is not different from the T-55, The TOW struck the drivers area, therefore missing the onboard tank rounds and the turret was not directly aiming infront of it but to the left.
The HEAT ray killed the driver, passed trough the crew interior striking the engine. It goes fire and the gunner, loader and commander bail out with no serious leg wound.
>If you can be seen, you can be hit
>If you can be hit you can be killed
It would be a great help if they followed the soviet manual on how to deal with ATGM.
If you see the missle you can get evasive.
You do have SOME time to get behind something or into a ditch.
The convoy was following soviet doctrine.
Dismounts in front of and behind the tank, tank forming the core of the convoy.
Watch it again, 1 guy on the right, then left and then right again.
3/4 = driver was killed.
Why would they supply them with Tandem warheads? That's kinda too high tech to give way.
Well they did not deal with the threat of ATGM
Smoke, arty, suppressive fire.
Ahh yes. Missed the first one.
Still some serious burns. Too much brew man. Too much brew.
>Why would they supply them with Tandem warheads? That's kinda too high tech to give way.
Its still last gen TOW. Current version is top attack EFP.
>Well they did not deal with the threat of ATGM
You cant realistically smoke and arty your entire convoys path.
You could smoke and arty suspected positions.
But this kinda asking too much from the SAA.
They have been in this war since the start and have lost their fighting power.
Still have shit-ton of tanks left.
Why is russian missile tech the best in the world? They have a diff doctrine or something?
>lost their fighting power
If anything this war has separated the wheat form the chaff; anyone who hasn't ran away from the fight isn't going to, they're in it to the end. Even if Damascus fell (unlikely at this point) the country would crumble under ethnic lines, the army would become a militia and fight on.
Its like they took quick kill, made it bigger, and slowed it down
