OH SHIT NIGGA IT'S A HELICOPTER THREAD
Post best helicopters, favorite helicopters et cetera
Posting pure sex first
My dad builds these
>tfw my country has a joke helicopter that doesn't even have an autocannon attached
>depending on what source you listen to it either had a tiny amount of combat action in 'stan or none at all
Eurocopter Tiger, I really want to like you but you make it insanely hard
The Ka-50 on the other hand gives me boners for days
The Eurocopter is a different mark and make
There's gun pods on it, but no actual fixed gun
My dad and a tiger
He used to work in the hangars, putting in the electronics, assembling the important parts, the final result parts, im not 100% sure.
Now he is a quality assurance officer, makes sure nothing faulty leaves the hangars, he doesn't talk about his work much, other than the stupid shit he does in the office, I might make him answer some questions in a thread one day
heres the french version
heavy lift chopper is best chopper
I like how everything looks reasonably sized then BOOOM RUSSIAN HEAVY LIFT
The fact that no one else decided to build comparable heavy lift choppers is a bit disappointing - the Mi-26 has about the same max payload weight of a C-130, so many foreign countries necessitated such high lift capability from a helicopter that I don't see why the US or Europe don't try to compete. Duh. I mean even NATO used Mi-26's under contract.
As long as it's rotary-winged, it should be good.
All these capchas with food are making me hungry
>tfw no Comanche
Isn't it the sexiest?
>Not recognising Hind's fan in the cockpit
You what, komrade?
DCS: UH-1H or Ka-50 Black Shark if you're looking for hardcore simming, Take on Helicopters: Hinds if you're looking for something a little lighter and fluffier in the systems-management department.
There's also arcade games like Commanche and AH-64 Air Assault if you're not looking for anything sim-related
>confusing Aussiecopter Tiger and Eurocopter Le Tigre with Eurocopter Tiger
but yeah, as I said, it's a joke with no autocannon. Murrkan sources say it didn't even fire a single sh-- missile in 'stan, german sources say it had at least one CAS mission.
Sikorsky's trying to do that thing right, they're not rushing shit into production. That thing won't see the light of day for another decade at least. It's one of the few compound helicopter concepts that's ever been even considered for full-scale production
I don't think I'd ever want to fly a Kaman, they look like they're just flying rotorstrikes waiting to happen
On the one hand the K-MAX can lift more than its empty weight in cargo, sure, but on the other 1 out of every 4 have been lost in accidents
>I don't think I'd ever want to fly a Kaman, they look like they're just flying rotorstrikes waiting to happen
They're actually far more resistant to rotor strikes than coaxials.
>Turning down a ride in any helicopter
What the fuck is wrong with you, man?
It's affectionately known as the Disco Ball. IR countermeasures unit. Obsolete now. There's newer, better things out there that work much better. Basically, all the ALQ did was mask the aircraft's presence against the background, making it harder for the missile to get a solid lock. Not nearly as effective as some of the stuff out there now. I want to say it was around 2011 or 2012 when most Army units started phasing out the ALQ for the newer stuff like CMWS.
dumping some old deployment pics to apache this thread up.
I would love to see a game like a cross between Strike Commander and Gunship 2000, where you run a helo mercenary company, going from Russian dregs and boneyard AH-6s to eventually Ka-52s and the occasional Apache-bought-from-corrupt-Egyptians.
