This is a one-day shoot out in a spot we scouted out previously in Panoche Hills.
Here are the particulars:
DATE: November 7th, 2015
TIME: 7:30 AM
ADDRESS: 46378 W Panoche Rd, Firebaugh, in the Subway parking lot.
I don't expect everyone to get up at the asscrack of dawn to get there at 7, but if you're in the area or want to help set up, it'd be great.
DIRECTIONS TO THE SPOT: Drive down W Panoche Rd, past the Subway where we're meeting. Continue down until the road ends. (It turns into private property, there are buildings around.) Turn left onto Panoche Rd proper. Continue driving for approx. two minutes until you see a circular parking lot on the right side overlooking the dry riverbed and a large, flat basin. Pic will be provided.
BULLSHIT: We will be needing tables, chairs, tarps, and food. Two people are confirmed for bringing grills, so charcoal, burgers, hot dogs, and accessories would be welcome. I have a burn permit.
Tannerite, lead, and clays are okay, and although my clay launcher -still- hasn't come in, we should have somebody else arriving with one, trap shooting is still on the menu.
Bring tunes, targets, and trash bags.
EMAIL LIST AND SLACK
To get on the email list, reply to this post with your burner. I'll add you and send you an invite to our Slack. It's pretty much a mini-chan where we discuss bullshit and carpooling.
If Slack doesn't tickle your dick, don't accept the invite. I'll still be sending out the information via email.
Pic is the parking area mentioned above.
I am bringing a table and like 14 or so chairs, as well as some soda and water. Does anyone know how radio reception is out there? Ill be bringing one and I want to know in advance if I can get the Hawk or some other stations
Could it be slightly more south to the middle of the bigger population area.
Depending on the feedback of course. Like if a ton of Redding and Jefferson fags show up then of course same spot is good.
Anyone here got a decent camera and knows how to use it.
A good cameraman could be useful for taking pics of all the fun things going on and/or saving photographic proof of us being totally legal and not breaking no laws.
I was going to bring one or maybe even two coolers and get ice at one of the 24hr walmarts I have to drive past. I'm planning on just bringing water, ice, and other drinks though. I don't plan on brining food, but I will bring a few small bags of charcoal.
I'm also bringing one or two 5 gal bottles of tap water for washing hands and shit. I don't have any dispenser attachments or caps though, so I might buy a cheap water container with a spigot or something and use the 5 gal bottles to refill it. Unless someone has something we can use.
Fuck, my buddies and I are going on a camp/shoot expedition this weekend and we totally could've come but we're filming something about Nazis for our college history course and we need woodland/snow :(
Any CAbros know a good woodland area to camp with lots of guns/booze?
Boca Reservoir area near truckee. Has a designated shooting area for public use, and everywhere around it is forest and mountains perfect for shooting film.
Stanislaus forest, there are a few places close to the edge of the forest that the parks people wont mind you shooting guns in.
Kings canyon, be very careful in this area, extreme wilderness, and isolated. Best place to do whatever the fuck you want without anyone bothering you, but also the most dangerous. Have at least some bush craft, and navigation knowledge when going here.
has to be about European theatre, and it's gonna be a single battle where a person from each side represents a country so I feel like woodland gives me the best chance to put a lot of characters in :(
fuck, I'm gonna be dressed like a Soviet and my buddy's bringing his Luger and everything...
You should be able to, but I havnt shot in that forest area in a while, so go to the ranger station and ask them where to go.
I usually just shoot at the designated area since its set up like a range, and then park pretty much anywhere in the forest and set up camp.
If you are closer to truckee area, there are a couple of places near lake tahoe, and one a bit north towards susanville. I havnt been to these places in a while though so cant give you details on where they are. But like I said, go to ranger station and ask, the old lady who works at the one in truckee is pretty friendly.
also for anyone worried about where to use the shitter if youre not inclined to squatting in the woods, theres like mcdonalds and a bunch of other places just 5 minutes from the shooting area you can drive to.
FYI here is a google maps link of exact location of where the parking spot is for the shooting area.
Since i dont know if that link will work here are the coordinates.
just looked at prices for that best western per night, looks like I will be staying at the motel 6 30 mins away, even with discount it is 69$ a night compared to 55$. Thats more than a box of 556!!!
>Tannerite, lead, and clays are okay
Of course lead is fucking ok, stop saying that like anyone was wondering. You were supposed to check on the status of magnetic ammo you fucking mong.
The concern with lead is that people think that lead is banned is becuase of of the ban of lead in hunting areas. People think it is regulated by area, not intent.
And only BLM in desert regions (this is not) ban magnetic ammo. No need to be a smart ass.
I think the only thing we have to be concerned about is some park ranger coming up to us and saying we are either shooting to close to the road, shooting too close to the electric towers.
Hey I got a message on my Youtube channel about this going on.
Wanted to see if you guys had anything in particular you wanted dragged out to play with.
All of it won't fit in any vehicle with two axels.
I dont have a ton of gun cases...
Plus some of this stuff I still need to tinker on.
So pick favorites.
I'll try to get the woodsman and the mad scientist to tag along.
It's a 5/6 hour trip one way for us and I've got a friend who I have to hang out with sunday who is getting surgery so we will be turning and burning afterwards and it's going to be a bit rough
So let's keep it somewhat manageable load wise
I got some crazy stuff we are tinkering on tinkering on right now that hasn't been posted anywhere but Facebook yet too..
I can bring some big mag 22's, calico, am180, belt fed, etc if you guys have ammo.
Maybe snorky in 556,
Also I have the blood damaged 1911, the restored bootleggers 1911, the hit man replica, the first steampunk 1911 ( with a 45 barrel installed)
I've been wanting to play a little with the aug....
I also have a son of Sam replica 44 bulldog that I've been wanting to do a video on...
Could also bring the cockweasle....
I think keeping it to 10 or 15 toys is probably reasonable... maybe 20 if we feel frisky
I'm about an hour away, but how newfag-friendly is this meet?
I'm thinking about bringing a friend but he's not too knowledgeable (even though he owns a few funs)
Also are you all a bunch of old farts, I don't want to feel like the only kid there being 23
How rough is the road leading to the spot? I drive a WRX that's been lowered a few inches, and it's not too fond of rough dirt/gravel roads. Unfortunately it's the only running car I have at the moment.
Same age as me, so bring some ammo and im sure other anons including myself will let you shoot their funs. Most of the guns im bringing are so people can shoot them
Ive driven a lowered Scion xB and no issues. Its only when you go a mile further down the road that it gets pretty inconvenient.
So is this the time you're leaving the Subway parking lot?
If so could you make this just a little bit later? Some of us are driving like 3 hours to get there. Maybe like 8:00 or 8:30 or something?
Obligatory inquiry on safety.
Is anybody here first responder certified or anything? Some guy with a random surplus IFAK he got off ebay doesn't count. You could fuck people up with the clotting agent if you're not trained.
What would be the average response time for EMS to arrive at this spot? How good is cell reception at this spot?
I don't like being "that guy" but safety should always come first.
There is some reception I think, I cant recall since I usually go further into the hills. but area with all the gas stations, hotel, food places off the highway is a 4 min drive.
"this guy" here again.
Also are we going to have people that are RSO trained and follow the same protocols as a typical range?
Calling cease-fires, established firing lines, mandatory ear/eye protection, loaded weapons pointed downrange at all times, weapons empty/action open when not at firing line, etc etc?
What's so hard about keeping an eye on the two people adjacent to you and everyone else doing the same? Obviously if someone does something stupid they will be stopped by someone. Newbies will be handled by whoever brought them and noguns will be handled by whoever brought the guns they are shooting.
I've seen videos of /k/ meets from other states, and the amount of muzzle sweeping that occurs with loaded guns is horrifying. I don't understand how anybody can be okay with that. This isn't airshit, these aren't toys.
>Obviously if someone does something stupid they will be stopped by someone.
So what's wrong with having people dedicated to keeping an eye out for stupid shit? It's not like they have to work full time, take turns. Hell I'll volunteer if I end up going.
From what I understand this is a remote area with questionable cell reception, if something does happen that can be a death sentence.
Made/Recieved calls just fine when last I was there.
I smell a smell. A smelly smell I haven't smelled since ... pic related.
If you actually aren't Tommy and are genuinely concerned, the people that've attended the meets I've put on thus far are entirely safe and competent with their weapons.
And this: >>27805105
I literally had no idea who this "Tommy" guy was until now. Those caps are pretty funny, I'm not autistic about legalities like that.
I'm just concerned about general safety practices, I come from a military family and have had all that drilled into my head my entire life. It's just how I do things, following basic common-sense protocol.
Unload/clear weapon when a general cease-fire is called
Have an established firing line that is not to be crossed when the range is hot
Unload/clear weapon if you're going to be carrying it around behind the firing line
Muzzle discipline at all times
All the stuff you listed is common sense, and already planned.
I'll be the guy calling hot/cold range so people can replace targets and reload mags, and it's everybody's job to look for stupid shit.
What is the general ratio of experienced shooters to newbie/completely new shooters?
I've found during range trips that anything more than like 2:1 (experienced vs new) usually turns into the whole trip becoming an impromptu instructional course for the new shooters. Which isn't bad but I don't know if everybody would be OK with that.
Most of the folks coming I have met at meetups prior, and have been shooting for quite a while. We've only had one or two true "noguns" that needed instruction.
Current RSVPs stand at 15, and the ratio should be pretty well in favor of experienced shooters.
So is this the first Cali /k/ meet ever or am I just a massive slowpoke who missed all the other ones?
What's the policy on coughgrandfatheredcough magazines?
Possession of any that were obtained AFTER they were b& is illegal. But burden of proof is on the state.
Regardless, cops can and do confiscate them, legal or not. And they usually do end up getting crushed before you get them back even if they were legal. They just wouldn't be able to press charges without proof.
I think I fucked up with my stands, especially the paper target one. Might be too narrow. I'm too lazy to fix it today, maybe tomorrow. I also used more wood than I thought so I'm just going to bring these three.
And if there is someone so terribly concerned about safety or having an RSO, I'll bring my orange vest and occasionally yell at people about random shit.
ATF doesn't give a shit about state level laws. Hell, bring those standard caps if anyone has them (legally of course), I'm bringing a featureless AR.
So am I and I am planning on leaving around 4:30-5 AM
>Possession of any that were obtained AFTER they were b& is illegal
No. It is not legal to "find" a magazine. They still haven't fixed this so called loop hole either.
But yes, cops can confiscate them if they want since all mags 10+ are legally a nuisance.
>No. It is not legal to "find" a magazine.
Oh wait, seriously? Source?
Is this actually true?
3/8 Ar500 plate I bought
>Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, commencing January 1, 2000, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, or lends, buys, or receives any large-capacity magazine is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison.
No "find". Receiving also use to not be illegal, but that was changed recently with that bill that now regulates rebuild kits like actual magazines.
So, if you had say, something like a Johnson rifle, which has an internal magazine, but can also accept external mags, could you get 20 rds legally as it accepts 2 mags simultaneously?
so do they care about "permanent" blocking? Do they actually check by taking the mags down? I have a couple of mags that are just blocked with dowel and aren't sealed. I do have proper 10 rounders, but they aren't actually designed for the gun, the gun just happens to be able to use them, but not reliably.
I always take the dowel blocked mags to the range, but no one gives a shit there.
Turns out I only have 1 clip of light ball nugget food. The rest are in crates in storage (which I rather leave alone), but I do have some training rounds, so I'll bring a few clips of that. I won't be able to feed my PU much personally, but I'll still bring my PU and people can just feed it whatever ammo they bring. I don't think the scope is zeroed though, I haven't shot it in 2 years now maybe.
LMAO I think I know this spot, thats where the plebs shoot. Its at a fucking cross road, where everyone shoots at.
FYI this is nowhere near where we are shooting. This is at panoche hills proper. Area we are at is more near tumney hills
I have charcoal, don't worry about it. If I happen to not show up due to reasons, just buy some at a gas station instead.
I also have this. Never used it, picked it up becuase CVS had it on sale for a buck.
It's pretty much in the middle of the state along the primary highway. It's a pretty good location for a state wide event.
Just find someone to carpool with. Not a lot of people using the carpool section in slack though.
Dont use hoppes no9....
This is the most convenient BLM since its the center of california, and norcal and socal cant argue since its at the halfway mark between bay area and LA, as well as halfway mark between san diego and Redding.
No favoritism, /k/ommiefornians must unite at central CA to maintain peace between norcal and socal
also this >>27808674
Good news everybody!
GF had an ER visit. I don't know if she can still go or if I need to stay behind to monitor her. We already paid for the hotel room soo fuck that's 100$ wasted.
Medical issue is unknown. Probable nerve damage to leg. She's released but travel might be too hard.
San jose/San Francisco fags really shouldn't argue btw, they are closer to the spot then us.
Also yeah for Socal people the drive is a couple hours longer, but there IS another shoot going on in Barstow this weekend for Calguns. So its not like they ate starved of shooting options.
Anyways, so we need more bbq meat right? And is anyone bringing tannerite.
She's feeling better today but we're not in the clear until her primarily care doctor gives her an all-clear next week.
I'll need to join a carpool if I still go.
You know anyone else coming to the shoot from your area?
If not you can probably ask around on the forum or just post a burner here with your general location so people with room passing by could pick you up.
>tfw I'm completely dry ammo-wise except like 1 box of 5.56, 1 case of trap shot, and about 500 rounds of 9mm
Welp I guess I won't be staying that long, I don't plan on blowing all my practice ammo on one range trip
I'm bringing some boxes, weights, paper targets and spray adhesive. Hopefully it works
Also bringing some energy bars, trail mix, water/mtn dew, and idk how this'll work( i heard someones grilling?) but a gallon can of chili and some bowls/spoons
I'll prolly buy more food tonight, shit I thought the count was only like 8, getting excited now
I only have one chair tho so if someone has tables/easyups...
Anybody dressing up or anything? I know halloween was last week but it's not too late
Also how's the weather forecast looking?
Bland and uninteresting. Seems the rain is over, area is known for being windy sometimes.
I'm going to be covered in tropentarn.
Maybe ajax will come in his jawa outfit.
>I have gats but no targets and only 2 bowling pins. Can I come?
.... naw you cant come m8 you need to bring at least 30 tannerite charges, a deagle brand deagle, three female prostitutes, and no less than five ferrets, preferably spraypainted purple
? you got a tip that the zodiac killer is back? if anyone tries to fuck with us I think we'll be ready for them.
anyway, weather forecast shows sunny at ~69 degrees fahrenheit, let's hope it's accurate
O/k/ guys I am getting pretty excited about this. I have parted ways with many a shekel for this thing and even got a nogunz airsoft fag to come so he can pop his cherry with a real gun. This better be good as I am starting driving at 2:00 to be at Subway by 7:00
I'll be wearing an LA Kings fitted cap, a plaid short-sleeve button up with only the top button buttoned, a white t-shirt, a solid gold crucifix, some crisp, dark blue raw jeans, and a pair of converses.
Alright guys, here's the deal.
Either I ditch the hotel room and return Saturday, but that means the money spent on it is wasted.
I have a ride there around 5 am who can't stay, but I can swap with someone else driving up north and RTB on Sunday. That way we can have a group sleep indoors with sleeping bags, we can stay in Panoche longer and drive back to our respective directions well-rested.
So if anyone from up North is willing to stay and extra night, we have a room for 3-4 Kommandos to stay in. If you are the baddest dude, please speak up now. Otherwise the room is wasted.
Might be a little too late to organize this on the thread or on Slack, I'd ask at the meet if you can make it, if this is happening tomorrow night that is.
I won't be able to stay the night, I got shit to do Sunday.
What's the purpose of the overnight stay?
Just to give people some rest if they live a longass ways away? Or do you plan on shooting sunday? Or do you plan on cough netflix and chill cough
If you're still lurking this thread GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP
Originally GF and I were gonna stay there and take off along the PCH, taking the slow way back.
Now she can't go due to a sudden medical problem (thankfully it's just a damaged nerve, not a blood clot). That plan is now fucked, but the room is still paid for. I'd hand it off to someone else to sleep in, but I have to be there to check out in the morning which is mutually exclusive from getting a ride back unless someone who lives up north stays as well.
It's complicated, but if we can pull it off it means people got a place to crash and we won't be driving for hours just to see each other for 30 minutes before turning around.
If need be, I can try to coordinate this with people in person at the meet but if I'm staying I gotta check in by 3.
TO ANY STILL LURKING
Go take the two minute thing to get a burn permit on the BLM site and print it out. I'm out of fucking printer ink.
On the bright side, my pigeon thrower got here just a couple of hours ago.
CHP loves giving out fix it tickets. They love to ambush motorcyclists on the HWY 9/35 intersection
I might actually be able to stay. I originally had to chauffeur my sister around on Sunday, but she said it was fine and if I was tried tomorrow after the shoot I didn't have to force myself to drive back. We'll see though. Still, we can talk about it tomorrow. If I don't send you a text by 4:45 or 5AM, call me to wake my up. I'm taking sleeping pills and going to sleep soon though.
My print has issues, but I'll try to print one out. I suggest someone else do it as well though.
Looks like I'm rolling up solo unless a miracle happens and the mad scientists girlfriend decides to let him go with.
If you need a ride from Los Angeles I'll be heading up as of about 1am.
No jawa outfits... just bringing a guy fawkes mask
Tis the season
