Where should I start with Calvino? Should he be read in any particular order?
>Should he be read in any particular order?
Italian here so I don't know about translation but his prose is pretty simple (even if it's great), I read The Baron In The Trees, The Nonexistent Knight and The Cloven Viscount when I was 12 yo.
Don't worry about the order, you can start even from his more avantgarde stuff without any problem. But do it, it's great.
Is philosophy really an useless subject to study in university?
Is it good?
Can we all agree that the school of life has its moments?
In any case, who expects to really learn about the topics they cover through five minute videos.
If you watch their videos for leisure, without assuming that they can possibly act as a replacement for real studying, they're pretty good.
I don't fucking get the channel's obsession with sex. They've released like seven videos about it. Nothing they say about the topic is useful or original. They should just stick to philosophy/literature.
Notions of Proximity
Hypersurface architecture considers both the fluidity of information and the malleability of form or material as one, integrated and emergent design strategy
Hypersurface considers architecture as a node in a feedback-loop, as an element in a larger exchange. To achieve this, one needs to situate a concern within the middle of things and consider the emergent effects-outward. This tactic is utterly different from our typically linear problem solving methods. To make the shift to emergent or middle-out processes requires a theoretical shift.
What are the absolute freaks of literature.
Poetry, noveles, shortstories, theater or just written crap.
I don't care, give me some names.
Urs Alleman, he wrote a book (stream of consciousness) that I can't even mention here because mods
i think it is just a stream of consciousness of a dog

Use paragraphs. (Approximately 100 words)
one hundred dicks in my ass, sifting and swaying about while the birds are a-whistling in the trees, blowing gentle melodies through the crooning tones of the wind. Stained glass arches and paintings of crooked rain going, "oh wowee zowee, that'll sure brighten the corners". American waters aside, the boat sailed through the metamorphaseas where the water lilies grow. I left the building stoned as hell, munching on two dollar and fifty-nine cent crunchwrap supremes from Taco Bell. I proceeded to take a huge bong rip, the motherload. a missile arc of smoke and...

what does vv. mean in footnotes? I'm reading the bible and the footnotes are really detailed and sometimes say things like--
"the destroyer: here presented as a distinct agent (cf. 2 Sam 24:16; Prov 28:24; Isa 54:16 [KJV "waster"]), although in vv. 13, 27 the attack comes from YHWH himself."
I can parse out what every other abbreviation means but not this fucking "vv." and it shows up a shit ton.
Hi /lit/ I can't find the alternate cover of Infinite jest with all the sticky notes, Warosu is down so could someone please post it? google images reveals nothing
Is he the most overrated thinker of all time?
Mostly just shit on by atheists on the internet these days. He's definitely not overrated.
Do people actually respect this edgelord?
hey, he's a teenager. they don't get taught this at school, because, you know, school is a tool of mind control and doesn't teach you anything worth knowing - but teens learn from observing that strategically it is safer to shit on something rather than praise it. a nervous babby doesn't want to risk saying "I thought the great shark hunt was pretty funny" in case some other babby attacks him for it.

Is there a chart or guide for navigating Balzac's Human Comedy? I've just burned through NYRB's selection and I'm eager for more.
Also, what are you personal favorite stories from Balzac?
Can any French readers let me know if I'd be missing out on his meaning by reading a translation?
I guess I'm asking if his genius depends on his language. I've always been wary of reading translations for this reason.
how many of you write short stories?
do you share them or keep them on your pc/journal?
any online recommendation to get some visibility? I want to start writing but I wish someone would actually read it
Don't share online until you're ready to ask for money. "writers" prey off people posting good ideas for free, so start by talking to friends you trust in order to build in the directions you think will help your work. When you have a strong draft have someone with an eye for punctuation read it and offer ideas to edit it. Only show your work to people who want to help you succeed.

instead share your stories with me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll publish them online under my name and collect $2.75 in the next year in the royalties I get from selling your work on amazon. Thank you for your time, and keep reading Vern & Sisters publications.
>That being said, the primary act of reading is to enjoy the story.
