Hey /lit/, I wanted to ask about books that explain the finer points of the English language. Grammar, syntax, diction, sentence structure and the like, I feel like it would help me better analyze an author's style if I knew more about the nuts and bolts of language. Do you guys have any suggestions?
>typing in english while shitting on it
>waaah he insulted my pleb language
i only type in it because you fucking retards on this board don't know any other ones if I just said: anon Sie eine massive verdammte Schwuchtel bist. you'd scratch your monkey head in confusion, you should be thanking me for using this filthy anglo speak to begin with, fuckface.
>he used google translate to pretend he spoke german
The only thing I can think of is Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style," and it's more oriented towards learning how to write better. Still, it's a fun read and I'd recommend it anyway.
I'm having trouble thinking of anything good for analyzing a writing style. You hear things, like how good writers avoid adjectives and stuff like that, but I've never read a book on the subject.
