>>7313627 All of them. One's basically Gonzo about a porno convention, the lobster essay's cute and "Up, Simba," about the 2000 McCain primary campaign is one of the most important political essays of the decade.
No, all of them are shallow and resemble cracked articles but with added description of where he is and what he sees. Not to mention couple of essays resembling quirky academic describing his peculiar interests, which lack any conviction of why I, too, need to find them interesting. When you read it, inclusion of post notes seems increasingly more cringe worthy.
It isn't bad, but you could read something else, like annals from days past or something.
"Up, Simba" was the best. Lobster one was fine but followed the trend of interesting premise leading to underwhelming results. Porn one should be pretty fun, at least the novelty of it for someone who doesn't know much about the industry. The one on Kafka, most disappointingly, I found no interest in.
>>7313791 It's pretty bad, there's no denying that at least.
>>7313713 this is the case with most of his writing, DFW also did not get math, porn, water, or cruises. Nonsense like this is produced ad nauseam when you think you are above empirical reality and believe you are getting at eternal truths. This belief is why this board is shit and why literary fiction is for pseudo-intellectuals in general.
>>7313627 Essays are not literature. I know this because I post on the new board /his/ which is a containment board for such disruptive content as discussion of philosophy, history, logic and nonfiction as a whole. I am an important element of the/ lit/ community. Now I will provide a direct link to the board to make it more convenient for you to navigate there.
Thank you friend, for taking the time to read this. I understand it can be difficult to adapt to a changing landscape. When new boards are added it is always a sticky issue to determine their utility and therefore what the segregation of topics between boards should be, but I am sure you will eventually understand how the new 4chan works in 2015
>>7315444 Oh my god there's finally a philosophy board and a few clingers are getting this mad about it because it wasnt Pure Philosophy but lumped in with history too. Meanwhile the majority of /phil/ has moved there and theyre having good discussions. Sorry its more active so your stirner memes dont get as much attention. Just accept this already, this is so pathetic.
