>>13615643 Arise is the newest 26-episode TV series, with about 5 associated movies, of which only 2 are dubbed and only 4 are subbed. It's the earliest of the GITS series chronologically, focusing on how Motoko and Aramaki formed Section 9 in a time of terrorism and espionage following WW4.
Stand Alone Complex deals Section 9 several years later, having matured into a well-oiled organization that gets involved in more domestic cybercrime in the new era of peace. There's fallout from WW4 in the second gig.

>>13615505 The weakest part of your robot would then be your brain, not your fleshy human body. Instead of life support, you'll have a system that keeps your brain alive, which might probably be smaller. Overall a smaller "cockpit" block.
It also means that you can't eject, unless you got a backup "body" for you to eject with. If shit goes wrong and you are going down, you're pretty much fucked unless you got a backup eject pod that can get you back home.
>>13615487 Stopped playing this couple months ago because of that bullshit difficulty. Is this the gundam equivalent of SMT? The bosses and sub-bosses can only be defeated by buffs and de-buffs, even random encounters like the shield zaku combo can be a pain if you don't know what you are doing.
So I started watching TTGL again... I put it on hold after Kamina died, cause at the time I started I was only watching for him. I hadn't gotten into mecha yet and it didn't really appeal to me.
Since then I had watched 079 and like im like half way through Zeta atm (im watching the movies cause I'm a plebian and zeta just isnt doing it for me as much as 079 did)
But back to my point, So I'm watching Gurren Lagann and I noticed a similar feeling to when I was watching Gundam, where before the timeskip in TTGL it felt a lot like 079 (everyone... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
TTGL is one massive homage to the mecha genre, of course it pulled some shit from Gundam.
But the things you're talking about aren't uniquely Gundam either. "Everyone is a kid and fighting a war against an evil empire" predates Gundam by a fair while; enough that Tomino gave it a dark treatment in Zambot 3 before Gundam was a twinkle in his eye.
Fighting in cities with collateral damage dates back to the original Mazinger Z manga.
Last summer I found this interesting anime. After watching most of the series I was astounded by all the similarities it has to Evangelion...
I think I'll start with the main character. Lets call him 'Bob', although thats not what his actual name is. Bob is a Japanese teenager, just like Shinji. It is stressed early in the series that he has been seperated from his parents often, especially in recent times. In the first episode of the series Bob is in a city under attack by an enemy threat.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there. For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here. If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry!... All these modern generic cute girl waifu pandering shows are stupid. I'm going to go watch my eighties generic cute girl waifu pandering shows instead which are completely different and not at all similar.
>>13614497 Something like Winspector and Solbrain will probably happen for the SWAT team, and possibly even in our lifetimes. The US Military is already experimenting with combat suit type power armor, and it may very well be possible that artificial intelligence will advance enough that we can have robots as force augmentation. No one would trust robot cops solo though, so they'd have to be supervised by an officer, much like Winspector has.
>>13614045 The movie trilogy is pretty good, although it has a terrible dub full of fake british accents and ROBOTON INVADERS, go with subtitles if you're going to watch the films. Alternately, the series dub is excellent, and the series is fleshed out in more detail than the films. In either form, though, Mobile Suit Gundam is pretty different from 00. I loved both, but I have to say that Mobile Suit Gundam holds a higher rank with me even though I did see 00 before it (I actually started with 0080: War In The Pocket,... Comment too long. hi /m/ i want to get into Mazinger but there seem to be fucktons of them and honestly i don't know in what order should i watch them/skip them anyone wanna give me advice? i also saw that mazinger series have some kind of connection to getter series, how so? do i need to watch getter too if i want to get into mazinger?
>>13613731 If you were me, I'd just say watch Shin Mazinger, read Shin Mazinger ZERO and skip the rest.
But I don't know what you're into. If plotless, MotW is more of your thing, watch the original series. Unless you don't want to have to sit through 98 episodes of character assassination and QUALITY, that is, in which case just read the manga and/or watch the Mazinkaiser OVA.
Mazinger has a lot of crossover sidestories with Getter, but Getter has nothing to do with Mazinger's main stories... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Does /m/ like to collect Artbooks? I've started a small collection this year with pic related, Obari's mech artbook and one of Okawara's Gunpla boxart from MSV/CCA up to Wing/X. Thinking about getting Takayuki Yanase's book that came out a few months back next, and maybe one of the Symphogear design books.
>>13613069 MS Era 0099 is really neat it's an all in-character coffee table type book of "photos" from the OYW there's a softcover version that was translated into Japanese too, but the hardcover was in English
