Where does Nagai get all his ideas from?
Robot Jox, G-Saviour, Pacific Rim.
Where do I go from here?
Bayformers. That's all there really is.
It's awesome that so many old, obscure shows have been fansubbed. But one thing english-speaking fans are still missing out on is behind-the-scenes material, and interviews with the creators. There is tons of this stuff out there that may never be translated.
For instance, here's a 2-hour interview with Tomino from 2005:
Or this panel discussion about Ideon:
Anyway, just wanted to throw this out there. For any Fansub groups looking for projects, translating...

Is it okay to like Pacific Rim, but not like the Iron Man films or RoboCop (2014)? I know this sounds like an odd question, but the same designers and artists worked on them so I'm not sure what to think. I've been conditioned to hate "capeshit" in any form I mean I don't read comics and that new RoboCop completely shits on the original. What I mean is Murphy is supposed to die and be brought back in a horrific form and uhh regain his humanity. I mean like uhh when RoboCop is activated he is no longer Murphy really he's an entirely new cybernetic...

Kakuranger is out on dvd today.
A marathon of Dairanger will be playing this weekend on Shout Factory in the same vain as Zyuranger back in January, So Ohranger announcement?
Why is this allowed?
Whatever happened to the VVV curse demotivational poster?
Starting to like this Punished Kojima's work.
What does /m/ think of the Supreme Commander series?
Hello /m/. My current home ISP blocks 4chan and I have to VPN through, so I'll just leave this here.
Would be appreciate if you could read the post, but the tl;dr would be 'please don't expect a regular schedule or fast release'
Thank you for the release!
Considering how much Tsubaraya goodness we've been getting from CR, a slow/irregular schedule is probably a wise idea...
Godzilla does WHAT
Due to a recommendation from my sister I just finished Gargantia, which is half part-Post Apocalypse ARIA, 1 Episode of Transhuman Debates, and a finale of fighting a cult based on a mech. Did /m/ like it?
Also, am I the only ome who got Orbital Frame vibes from Chamber?
SOMEONE FUCKED IKA.
This is the result.
Why do people not like the Red Frame?
The only people who don't like Red Frame and its variants are just morons who can't understand how much of a genius Lowe is.
Kamille bidan is _____
Curnchyroll has added Kyatto Ninden Teyandee to their catalog, following up the addition of Samurai Pizza Cats last year. From the look of things, the subtitles have been improved from the DVD release. No more blatantly censored gay joke in episode 1, for example.
>the subtitles have been improved from the DVD release.
Well shit, man. I was thinking about purchasing that DVD set while the price is still relatively low. They're really that bad?
>They're really that bad?
Here's a post I made last year that gives some examples of problems I had:
I've only watched the first episode of the Crunchyroll release so far, but I already noticed many improvements just within that one episode.
So the Dai-Guard is a real robot that's design is based off of super robots, or does it eventually go off the rails into super robot territory?
It's Awesome type.
That said you really need to learn to stop taking these "TYPES" literally. There really isn't such a distinction
What about Patlabor.
Whats the best Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta design?
Cg was a mistake
The more digital fx progress, the less we will see traditional toku and it's sad. I recall more than a couple Millenium era films utilizing it and how glaring it looked in comparison to practical. How noticeable will it be in Resurgence or the upcoming Gamera release? Both are supposed to be a mix of practical and digital fx. Are we at a point where they can blend well into a marriage instead of oil and water? I'm scared /m/.
>Both are supposed to be a mix of practical and digital fx. Are we at a point where they can blend well into a marriage instead of oil and water?
Don't people praise the first Jurassic Park for doing exactly that?
Just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. Saw EoE and the Rebuilds. I hated the third Rebuild film and loved both anime endings. What did you weebs think?
I still think that Eva is best enjoyed if you start by watching 26' through to the end of the tang scene, then the entire series, then EoE in its entirety.
Out of context tangification would compel anyone to watch the whole series just to know what the fuck just happened.
At least, that's how I unintentionally introduced myself to Eva. Thanks random out of nowhere channel broadcasting EoE's latter half!
Alright streaming the Getter Ovas starting in 30 minutes
Any of you guys know where I can get the g no reconguista ost ?
Why did mecha designs reach their peak so early and why did mecha designs go to complete shit after the 90s?
I think that there was some really great mecha in the 90s, though most of it was 80s directors and artists "maturing". I personally think that the years between 0079 to Turna A were all pretty great for the most part. And it is not as if we get no good mecha anime and designs now.
Sayla appreciation thread
Now that both have finished /m/en which one was better? I would go with IBO, since I can't stand Bellri's personality, Overreacting to everything like a bitch. Also the way the story was portrayed was a huge minus, I understood it all but it seemed over the place. IBO with it slowass pacing did this better imo. Also I find Orga way more interesting than Bellri. yes I view Orga as the mainprotag of IBO based on his development. What is /m/'s take on this?
Honestly I thought they were both awful
>Mikazuki is just a Setsuna pastiche
Setsuna was showing actual emotions by like episode 16 or so and changing as a person. Mikazuki hasn't done jack shit in comparison
