>finally some BD rips
>there are people on /m/ who seriously recommended this book
Why did she never haunt Char? What a bitch.
Let's talk uniforms, gear and practical mech piloting stuff.
I am working on some robot related fiction and part of it is I want to think about what the pilots would bring with them in case of being shot down. Currently my idea is a survival pack and inflatable raft stowed in the cockpit, which has a sidearm, flares, patches for their suit, water purification tablets, nutrient bar future rations stuff and basic medical supplies.
The setting is a Fafner style thing, so no space combat as yet.
As to the uniforms I imagined a Nihei-esque look but with less piss and weirdness. The suits have electrode pads on the inside to interface with the mech and send lifesigns etc to operators back at base, can be sealed (with a limited self contained air supply and the mech having its own air supply the helmet can connect to) and has reinforced upper body sections to protect the pilot from shrapnel/pistol fire a bit.
This is probably all shit, so what sort of practical details does /m/ like in its pilot gear? I liked how in Dragonar the pilots had that astronaut style hood under the helmet, or how VOTOMs has those cool gas masks.
If you want to add the shrapnel protection thing it only makes sense that you'd pad out the entire suit in the appropriate places rather than specifically the upper body, unless the cockpit of your mech had an Entry-Plug-esque securing function that clamps down on the lower body. Otherwise you just end up with an unbalanced look with a barrel torso but thin lower body.
>Kawamori added that this new series will emphasize "Valkyrie vs. Valkyrie," as opposed to previous television series. While video series such as Macross Plus and Macross Zero prominently featured variable fighters against each other, Kawamori has not done this in a Macross television series in a long time.
Tell me what to watch /m/
/m/ is a vast sea of idk what the fuck to do with. Where do I start? Seen a couple of rec images but eh.
I liked Gunbuster, Ebangerion and Five Star Stories (latter for the designs).
Might give Gasaraki a try but that /k/ lvl turns me off. I also liked Diebuster and Gurren Lagann but don't see them as relevant.
What's /m/'s opinion on Ken Ishikawa? You rarely talk about him outside of Getter Robo.
Kyomu Senki, Majuu Sensen, Eurasia 1274, Fatal Fury, Freeder Bug, Ultraman Taro, Samurai of the Meiji restoration, Makai Tensho, Yakuza Weapon, Shin Henshin Ninja Arashi (With Ishinomori) etc...
This man did a lot of cool shit when he was still alive.
What do you expect, the Mecha board is mostly going to talk about the stuff he made that was, you know, Mecha.
We could get away with talking about Taro and Majuu Sensen as well, but most people here haven't read them (I only just downloaded Majuu Sensen tonight).
I'll be honest: I'm not a fan of his art.
His early work just screamed Go Nagai ripoff, which was pretty justified but still made everything look incredibly deritative. And even after developing his own style eventually, when he's drawing giant monstrous things he's pretty great, but his humans are terrible.
We are more than halfway through the 2010s. Have you liked what /m/aterial has been offered thusfar? What show/game etc is going to stick with you? What do you think will be remembered down the line?
Think of all the stuff that came out between 80-85, or 90-95. Does it still stack up? Or is everything shit forever?
/m/ should i watch this ? (watched the first two season already)
I think it's time to finally watch this show.
Find a flaw
He looks anorexic in that image, let me help.
all i can come up with is he had a meh cgi movie. other than that perfection.
Are there any mecha anime that feature only regular mechs vs regular mechs instead of overpowered meme machines vs walking scrap metal? I watched the first few eps of armored trooper and enjoyed it despite it having a lot of "entire platoons of chucklefucks who never should have been given weapons/mechs vs blue haired hammer of god" fights.
You might like Dougram since it was made by the same guy, the main characters have a slightly more special mecha, but most battles still play out through teamwork, tactics, and pilot skill rather than just the MC having a high end machine though.
I'm pretty sure Frog Sweeper is Shinobu from the original dancouga in the future. It's pretty obvious really
Finally done with box 1, admittedly a little later than I wanted. Moving on to box 2.
One more box and 0083 to go
Would Kamille have piloted this?
