Favourite MSV Gundam?

I really like the RX-78-4. The big badass rifle helps, I'm not as keen on the RX-78-5, but that's still pretty decent

This is not an official MSV, just a kitbash for Hobby Japan I think, but its a Jesta upgraded with ZZ Gundam parts

Prototype ZZ
GP00 Blossom
Sword Calamity
Shin Matsunaga's Zaku II-R1 Custom in my personal favorite
This, The Zogok, and the G-Line are what I can think of at the moment.
The Full Armor 7th Gundam from the UC 0081 game.

While I do love the Out Frame I'm not sure it really counts as MSV, considering it was specifically made for a manga.

I thought all the Astray stuff was labeled SEED-MSV? Either way, I'm pretty loose with the term. Sidestory stuff that isn't animated is sidestory stuff that isn't animated.
that thing is popular enough it even get a number of fanart in pixiv actually

I hate that thing, just because of how much it shits on the lore.

No, strangely enough.

What was so bad about unit 7 that it surpasses unit 4's "I have a gun stronger the ZZ's Mega Cannon during the OYW" ?

I could accept Unit 5, and 6, but I thought 4 went too far.

4 was fine on the basis that the gun required it's own separate power source, was not tested, and actually blew up and killed the pilot on it's first use.

It's not hard to see why the Federation said "yeah, fuck that" to that concept for awhile after that happened.

Still, the idea of a gun that can one shot a fleet being developed in any shape or form during the One Year War stretches my suspension of disbelief, based on everything we know about UC's tech progression.

Unit 6 thought, that was a fine design, and a pretty fun boss to fight.

>My knees are P90s, your argument is invalid.

I prefer Takegawa's take on the 7, by simple virture that it takes the best parts of Okawara's and Katoki's and combines them while staying faithful to the original MSX design.

I feel that way about the entire RX-78 family, actually. Takegawa's style lends well to early UC in general.
>based on everything we know about UC's tech progression.
People need to stop thinking about it this way whenever "lore breaking" weapons or MS come into play.

Technological progression does not move in a straight line. It moves in the direction it needs to move at any given time, at varying paces in different political and scientific environments. Some technological leaps might be temporarily abandoned due to serious faults and the lack of a need to revisit the concept. Some may be abandoned in favor of different, more practical technologies, or perhaps left behind due to simple politics (the Gundam Development project comes to mind.) The last of which actually happens quite often in the military industrial complex, albeit not usually because of the "criminal" implications but more often because American Generals sure do love their status quo.

Mass Production Nu Gundam

Just saying that out loud fills me with joy.
(and fear if I were a Zeon)

It's closer in performance to Jagd Doga then it's namesake, which is still good, just not as good.

This thing is retardedly sexy. I thought I was just gonna paint up a standard ZZ Gundam? Nope. Prototype it is.

Zeta Plus for sure. C1 is my top pick, but they're all amazing.
Though, they have Incom versions for non-newtypes so it is less exclusive.

Char may have sunk low enough to make cyber-NTs (at least his were willing), but he didn't clone any little psychic girls for cannon fodder.

That made me think of a good question.
Who the fuck is responsible for making Full Frontal?

You want my honest opinion?

His Commanders and R&R guys who wouldn't call it the end of the war. Can you imagine setting up years of plans and power to start and win a war, only for it to end so abruptly? Yeah, it's war, but some of these people were from the OYW and on, so you can bet these guys wanted to stick on for more. Making a copy of your commander seemed like a fantastic idea, so the went through with it. I guarantee you one of the people who suggested it was probably one of the same guys who developed the Purupurupuru clones as well, because Axis is fucking nuts.

Stupid Conspiracy Theory: LOL FEDS. (Obviously not)

Sazabi Ground Type is a sexy beast, by the way. Plan to make myself one soon.

HGUC Mudrock when, Bandai

Like damn

Also, was this done by Izubuchi? The stance, as seen on Nu Gundam and Gundam Alex tells me yes but I can't be sure
If we're talking original 80's MSV, then Okawara. If we're talking about the updated design for Zeonic Front and Gundam Fix Figuration, then it's Katoki.

Talking about the update for Zeonic Front. The stance, proportion and perspective says Izubuchi to me, unlike the GFF which is quite noticeably Katoki.

Can you really call it sinking low ? They did consent to it, and the technology seems to have improved, seeing as they are significantly more composed then, say, Rosamia, or Four.
Here, here I always liked that suit. It was like a zeta mixed with the mk ii

True, but parts of Astray were animated.

Same with Thoroughbred (Unit4/5).

I'm inclined to agree, it's a neat design. The Titans also designed a suit based on the MK II, called the Gundam MK III, and it's pretty cool too.
In the 00's, Katoki updated a number of 80's MSV designs for PS2 games. Mudrock is based on the "6th Gundam" from MSV, and was made for the Zeonic Front PS2 game.

RX-78-4/G04 and RX-78-5/G05 are respectively based on the "4th Gundam" and "5th Gundam" from MSV. Katoki updated them for the Encounters in Space game also for PS2.

And the RX-78-7 is based on "7th Gundam", updated again by Katoki for the PS3 game Battlefield Record 0081.
>Katoki updated them for the Encounters in Space game also for PS2.

A bunch of it is animated in that game too.
The G04 and G05 also appear in the Thoroughbred manga which came out at about same time as the game.

I suppose since its not OYW or even UC it doesn't qualify as a MSV suit, but as far as variations of existing Gundams from an anime series go, I have to say I just love the 00 Gundam Seven Swords.

Bandai really missed the mark when they took Exia away from us 00 fans and gave us a generic general purpose MS with World of Warcraft teir shit shoulderpads in its place.

Season 2 may have still been a train wreck, but it would been a whole lot more fun if Setsuna had been piloting this thing instead of carrying that bitch Saji
around on his back.

I felt the same way in the second half of SEED when the Strike, cool because of the versatility of its various configurations, got replaced by BEAMSPAM.

Mah nigga. I prefer the G05 though because of that motherfuckin gatling gun.
But, I gotta go with the Delta Kai. Not only is it my favorite MSV, it's also my favorite mobile suit. Hands down.
This. Forever this. Shame that it's not included in the Master Archive.

>People need to stop thinking about it this way whenever "lore breaking" weapons or MS come into play.

This. This so fucking much.

Most protagonist suits are high powered test types and made for experimentation, not actual deployment.

Sure, the RX-78-4 was way over powered for its time, but so where ALL RX-78 units. If you want to see the military standard for the Federation in the OYW, the RGM-79 would be a good example, or the RX-79 for a high performance example.

Just because the federation COULD build a RX-78-4 doesn't mean it was an economical investment for mass production.

Case and Point:

Pic related, it's YF-23 test units build in the 80s. Sure, it was far ahead of the F-15, but you never saw YF-23's flying sorties in the Gulf War.

Why? Because it was an-ahead-of-it's-time test unit. It took a while before the somewhat-different-looking successor unit, the F-22, to enter testing, mass production, and eventual deployment

>tl;dr: test units are normally ahead of their time
I read that as

>YF-23 was a testbed for the F-22

>Not the YF-22 and YF-23 competing against each other for the Advanced Tactical Fighter competition and losing out against the YF-22's tech which was then refined into the F-22

your point still stands, just humor me.
