US players can finally sign up for Gundam Duel Company.
>New Gundam game for the U.S.? Alright.
>Let's check this shit ou-
I'm glad you wasted money localizing this Bamco. I am. Don't act surprised like you always do when literally nobody plays this game.
You should've ported over a good game like Battle Operation or MSGO.
So this is MTG: Gundam, but you can only actually play the game online? No thanks. Unless I can set up an "all Balls with 'NTD System' equiped and spam the instant 'Newtype Epiphany' to piss off my friends deck" I don't care.
>Localize a game that's browser based and takes little to run
>Compared to a console game that would require tons of money to manufacture and localize
Yeah they are so retarded anon, omg.
Honestly? That's debatable.
Take a game like Battle Operation, which is mainly online. You hire people to translate all of the text into English and you have a small team of developers make those changes.
Same thing for the card game, except you have to hire a bunch of translators to translate hundreds of cards from Japanese to English, in addition to translating all of the UI elements.
As far as that aspect of localization goes, it really just depends on which takes longer.
TCGs have a higher turnover rate than PS3 Games.
You sell on faggot a game for 60 bucks maybe he spends another 15 on DLC.
You sell TCGs for 3.99 a pop will plenty of shit cards and the faggots eat it up buying 10-15 packs at a time just to get a couple of not commons. Add in an in app purchase model for digital cards with "better" rare rates and sit back and count the money.
I'm with this guy. If its a well put together game and doesn't rely on being gundam to be enjoyable, this could be a fun with other mecha fans you know or good for introducing people to mecha.
First impressions is that it's pretty 'wait X IRL hours to be able to do shit' and that people who don't spend money won't be able to compete with those who do. I'd like to be wrong, but I'm not impressed so far.
Yep, I was a total idiot back then. My strategy one month ago was just about protecting the captain without thinking how each MS will use their weapons.
And I stupidly set Gouf as captain
It was cool at first, but actually it feels like you play with the cards, and figurines on the table. And tell you what, those MSs didn't move at all during battle, more like decoration I think?
You mean this?
Well I guess... a bit.
So I've been playing for a bit and from what I've gathered the game is pretty much "pay2win". What I mean is, the rental cards you get for free won't cut it. You only get two a day and that's not enough to build a deck so you pretty much have to buy physical cards if you want to stand a chance at all. I suppose that's the whole point of this anyway.
>Guncannon in the front row
>Gouf in the back
>Ground Type Gundam not in the middle or back where it would make sense to snipe from with the cannon
Dear lord. At least the Zeon player seems to have the right idea. Although I bet Casval Gundam and Ridden Zaku are serious premium bullshit at that level.
You don't. You wait until the game comes to America and buy the decks. Seriously, on the P-Bandai shop the decks are only like $9. That's not a ton of money compared to other ccg's. There's EFF, Zeon, Seed, and 00. Buying two decks gets you Casval's Gundam.
That's a fair price I guess, I just wish they'd done what every other F2P game worth its salt has been doing and had you download the client. I'm not a fan of browser based gaming.
It's worse than that. You can have a max of 30 free cards, some of the better cards don't come in free versions, and the free versions are "slightly weaker" than non-free ones.
On top of that, when you have real cards, you can link up to three real copies of a mass production MS (i.e. all but the best) to one digital version of that card, levelling it up and increasing its stats. You can do the same with pilot cards to level up their abilities.
Yeah, I was totally lost in that battle, thanks for telling.
$9 for eight cards in one starter pack, man. While I heard the booster will be about $4 for 3 cards. And also there'll be an app for it, so players won't have to open the game on browser.
and also meshould've known how Bandai works, man. It was really 'meh' when I got my Federation pack in hand. So at the shop where I ordered it, I also bought Zeon pack and got Strike Rouge as a bonus for buying two.
The cards count? AFAIK the free/rental cards the game gives you for the first time playing here has a limit. So there was a bit difficulty when a player gets another free card after finishing a mission. But as for the real physical card, I don't know how many cards be held in player's army.
EFF pack, Strike Rouge is the bonus for purchasing EFF and Zeon. Funnily enough, Casval's Gundam is bonus for purchasing 00 and Seed packs.
While the booster DC-01 will be released on July 25th, some players have been desperately purchasing all four packs..
jewing at its finest
I try to avoid TCG's but I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it ends up being fun. Maybe if enough people try it they'll think about bringing something else over. I wonder how many people bought Gundam Musou this time around.
I'm going to keep trying until they finally bring EXVS over here. One day
Well, actually she goes into the RX-78 in this deck. Because whatever the MS in the background of the pilot card, it should be combined with the pilot to make better stats on the MS.
Yet I'm putting her in the Guncannon rental card I got for registering in the open beta
I don't know it will be fun or not for /m/. This is the first time I play TCG, too. And it feels some kind of average for me, because it's still open beta. I hope the boosters will change everything when it's released...
Dunno if it will be released on UK, but if you want Casval's Gundam, it's between waiting on eBay or find who sells 00 and Seed starter pack with the bonus Casval's Gundam.
Nah, but skills matter in every battle.
>The only Gundam game that combines a trading card game with a browser game!
Fought a Jap who had an entire squadron of booster pack units. His 0079 Zeon team was surprisingly easy despite having Casval's Gundam. His SEED team however, completely raped me. Efreet Custom lost to Kira Yamato shouting "You don't belong here!" I lost the match by a few hundred points.
>start game using a newly created JP account because my US one doesn't work
>First Rental pull was the meh Strike Dagger
>Realize I still have the Bandai generic number title
>change it in the account settings
>realize it won't change in the game unless I scrap my game data and start anew
>start a new game data
>roll my first Rental MS pull again
>get pic related
>immediately put Ali in this instead of his shit-tier Enact
Awwww shit, son.
So protip: You can keep scrapping and restarting your account as many times as you want. Definitely suggesting that everyone does so until their first rental pull is something decent.
I'm kind of tempted to do that until I get an R4 as the first pull, but I'm rather personally fond of the Shin Matsunaga Zaku.
Also, another protip: Move Karen into the Ground-type Gundam ASAP. It's her Custom Unit, and you're better off with her in a stronger suit that stays out of the way while still doing full damage anyway.
I think the idea is that you have to make a bandai account set to a region that the game's cards are selling in. You can set to Japan to be safe, but if you put the website to "Not Japan" on the top right everything will be in english and you'll be able to play just fine.
AWW SHEEEEIT NIGGA
Yeah, I'm still putting her in that Gundam since the first place.
Later this afternoon I'm going to go the shop to buy cards. But I don't know, between buying three packs of boosters, or a whole one box. People have got Banagher or Full Frontal lately.
Keep the thread alive, I'm gonna try my luck at the shop. Will post what card I get later.
Eeeh, /m/ is slow. THis thread would be alive for probably another 24 hours without a single bump.
....I don't suppose you'd be willing to hook a /m/an up with a non-rental common?
I'm kidding, of course. Those cards are expensive as fuck.
I mean seriously. 800 yen for 3 cards? Fuck.
Indofag reporting. If the pic isn't shown upside down, I'm just lazy to turn the boz around.
Well, it's 42,500 Rupiah each in here, which I believe it's equivalent to about $3.99. But it might have been localized.
I bought three packs. They sell a whole box too, but at $68-something.
No, this is net cardass, they are different.
So they just keep the Carddass name for brand recognition and only sell them as regular packs?
I guess that's fine. Now if only I knew how to order some from here in the States...
Although the markup would be awful, I'm sure.
Caved and made a jp account to try. It IS fun but there's a lot of luck involved. Even when I'm not getting hit with UNICORN KYSHATRIA G3 Ez8 platoons I'm getting side and rear attacked constantly it seems. Also +1 to move Karen into the gundam. On 3rd turn with both attack buffs up her 180 is a fucking killsat
Meh, I'll say four of these nine cards I got today are really useful... I was thinking about buying the whole box, but for about $70? Sounds really instant kill
Anime Machi? Huehue.
Luck as fuck, buying card with some luck is totally needed.
Bumping with news.
I also just ordered Gundam Ace August edition, which has Blue Destiny card as the bonus.
While the September one will have BD Zeon color as the bonus.
No, it just means they're slightly gimped versions of the real cards. Also I think there's a cap to the total amount of Rental cards you can have. 30 maybe? Not sure what happens when you reach the cap, if you can trade up shitty extras or something.
I was fed up with how I was starting off with my account, so I scrapped everything, moved my account to Hong Kong (since people will be easier to beat there than in Japan where everyone's got good cards) , and started re-rolling my starting MS Draw. After about 20 minutes of (very quickly) deleting and re-starting my data, I got myself an EZ-8! Seriously, everyone should do this until they get an R4 to start with.
Hard to explain, but I'll say "not really like that"
I finally got Ez8, just in time I will got real Ez8 card and Shiro... Muehuehuehueue
>that $70 for a box set though
We should make a general, too. Now or later after 300 posts?
First, link to the site.
Second, maybe rules or gameplay?
Third, list of cards?
Fourth, pastebin for the rest of the things?
Fifth, "join /m/ squadron to do battle conquest."
I only can think for the first and the fifth, the rest just what slipped on my mind.
Pastebin should include:
Re-rolling accunt until you get an R4 starter trick
The codes listed above
What people are playing on what server.
By the way, what are people playing on? I'm on Hong Kong now (since I figured it'll be easier for me to eventually buy Hong Kong cards from a site that ships to the states) and I know at least a couple are on Taiwan, but we should know how many on each.
Shiiit, I'm having way more luck on this account now.
>first 4 rental pulls
>Another Ground Gundam
>Rau Le Cruset
And I used that one code to get Gouf (which is the only one of thsoe that works in HK for now, although hopefully that will change soon. I want that Pale Rider).
So is there a way to delete rental cards. I hit my max limit already... and now i cant get any more free cards and i have the gouf stuck in my mailbox which i cant accept because i hit the cap?
It says there is in the FAQ. Go into Cards > Register > Rental, and see if there's some kind of check box next to ones that aren't in use. I can't see for myself right now because I'm using every card.
I'm actually one of the guys who's been posting a lot in this thread.
was my first account, which I deleted for this current one
was me making my current one.
And I'll probably stop playing this one once cards are out in the US, but that might be a while. Although I won't have to delete the HK data because my US account uses a different email address.
Any questions on the matter posted on the games facebook, and on those Gundam info youtube channel are ignored. Funny enough, other questions are answered, atleast on their Facebook.
They could even go full Mobile Ops, and just not release it, and never make a statement on the matter.
Thats my problem, i saw the F&Q
But for the rental cards i cant seem to see any 'check box'... so im starting to doubt whether or not that function is only available for 'real/physical' cards... well either that or im blind as fuck
I dunno, man. Copy and pasting from the FAQ is says
>You can hold up to a maximum of 30 mobile suit and pilot cards, combined. If you are at the limit and want to add a new card, you will have to un-register one of your existing cards first.
So I guess you must be able to. The question becomes what's missing in translation here?
It was pretty funny, cause I work at the head distrubtor for gundam (not NA). So we got the cards and the game in advance (maybe about a 3 weeks ago?, and litterally we had no idea what the fuck was going on because the translation was so bad.
Yeah I'm hoping the main reason why they haven't done the NA release yet is so they can touch up the translations on the site more first. The cards aren't too bad, though.
Oh yeah, the english on the cards is perfectly fine. The optimistic part of me wants to hope that translations are just taking longer then expected, the fact that the english Gundam Info site is putting english adds for it on their home page does make me hopeful.
On the other hand, this is the same company that cancelled Mobile Ops without so much as an announcement, and that game's japanese counterpart, Operation Troy, had all the tutorials in english, so you never know what to expect.
Australia... well strictly speaking we didnt get any promo cards. Only ones we were given were the strike rouge & casval which I believe were standard issue across other countries to be used as promo cards. I dont think we were even given the gouf promo, just a banner signs and the products itself.
Although as much as i personally love TCG's i dont think this one is cutting it out for me. I rather stick to planning SDGO if im desperate or just unreleated TCG's if i want to play a card game.
Ive had people buying the card game (starters& boosters) despite having no fucking clue what it is. And we have sold a decent amount for a completely unknown game.
Gunpla is starting to kick off recently with the GBWC's/BAKUC. Other merchandise such as figures, anime itself I would say are mediocre at best in terms of selling... but gunpla is definitely the largest part of Gundam from what I've seen.
That's encouraging. Can't say I'm too surprised about gunpla selling better than anime, since anime is a) easily piratable and b) tends to be overpriced as shit.
They'd pretty much have to bank on all their money coming from gunpla and other merch at this point.
God dammit, I just want affordable Region 1 Blu Rays! Is that too much to ask?!
Well, Gunpla itself has been manufactured in Phillipines for a very long time now after the factories in Japan stopped making a large proportion of them.
I would say the only reason we might have gotten them before NA might have been because shipping from SEA > Austraila would have been faster than SEA > America.
Which would may have related to the 2-3 week difference in the game being released for NA/Aus. But personally I never heard of the game until i rocked up to work, and we were just figuring out how it worked with our manager
We had the starter pack for 3 weeks I think (from memroy). We were just told to hand out the promo cards to people that purchase 2 starter packs. And I believe we have gotten the boosters since last week. As far as i know they starter/booster were released at two different times. Starters were before litterally at the begining of OBT and the boosters were a few weeks after the start of OBT.
Yeah anime we carry the fully dubbed/subbed ones, but i dont remember the last time they moved tbh. But the thing with being the distributor is that our money doesnt just come from what we sell, because we sell it to the other smaller businesses that also sell gundam... but yes you are correct
Whelp, looks like Australia ia actually giving this a go, some of the bigger stores I actually visit stock the cards, the "buy 2 packs get one CARD free" is nice...but $17.95 for one pack...no wonder people bought one pack and skipped doubles.
Shop owner was nice to give me the free card regardless, maybe because I OBVIOUSLY wanted a UC related pack but all there was were SEED and 00 packs.
I was surprised by the amount of seed packs, none moved but only 3 left of 00, shame UC and whatever the 4th was sold quick
>Well, Gunpla itself has been manufactured in Phillipines for a very long time now
Dafuq, I went there bought some, "made in japan".
If you bought some saying made in japan but someone tells you shit's made locally they're full of shit or you bought bootlegs m8
>If you bought some saying made in japan but someone tells you shit's made locally they're full of shit or you bought bootlegs m8
I'm not too sure what you mean by that. But i know for a fact that newly released models come directly from Japan, I am talking about pre-release of models that have not hit the release date shelves yet. However a large proportion (if not all) of the 're-release' models do come from Phillipines.
And bootleg models are very obvious, their package as well as mould quality/materials are very different.
And i know for a fact that good games (i dont think NA has this brand, but basically a TCG/CCG/Boardgame chain store) is pretty much the only other store besides us that stock the cards. I also find it silly the price of the cards, i think for us it goes for like $22 or something a starter pack? Which for a DIGITAL card game i kind of find to be pretty ridiculous... Like just a comparison a starter pack for MTG would cost you around that and you can actually get somewhere with that one 'starter deck'
No argument there
>Field switches to my crew with Ramba Ral and Duval (in Zudah)
>opponent has a Johnny Ridden on the field
>Duval and Ridden talk
>"How would you like one of these of your own?"
>"You sure that hunk of junk can even run?"
Alright, that's pretty cool that pilots can have banter in this.
>looks like Australia ia actually giving this a go
Nice hype m8
Don't forget you have Torrington Base there.
Rolling and re-roll often happens to be really stupid. Luck is needed, brah. I'm gonna try to roll something this morning.
Also, Char and Sayla do.
Here's one, my Aqua GM.
Forgot pic related because captcha sux
Anyway, result of re-rolling (first roll got meh Duval)
Man I just got lucky.
I've been debating on if I should pull MS or Pilot for the one that just refreshed. I only have like 5 pilots, so I was really hesitant.
But I went with MS, and nabbed this baby. Which should probably be a very sought-after R3 for anyone starting out, since you're guaranteed to have the matching pilot.
Just done a little bit of battle conquest. I think It will always be fun to accidentally meet an enemy who had strong mobile suits but with low force gauge/resource after they had some other battle before me.
Karen Joshua, Jean Luc Duvall, Ali Al-Saachez, Rau Le Creuset, and Norris Packard
Also I noticed they spell his name right on the card, but on the website it's spelled Raww Le Klueze, which is awful.
I'm also wondering if I should just front-load all my best shit into team 1, or keep things spread out like they are now.
Here, this is what I'm working with.
I just laughed that there's another local shop in here that already sells each cards. Banagher is priced at about US$110.
Don't forget to reassign pilots to their proper suits (meaning Karen to the Ground Gundam), putting suits in the spot that lets them use their primary weapon, and use whatever codes from >>11133369
that your region of choice allows you to use.
oh man thanks, since I put Taiwan I could only get the Gouf and yea, I redid formations and captians, won my last two sorties with ease. Thanks
No problem. And so you know, just doing random fights against people doesn't do anything except test your deck out whenever you want. If you want xp, you gotta do Conquest, and if you want bonus cards, you gotta do the Battle Mission. Although you do get 2 free rental pulls a day.
That said, first thing you should do is the tutorial fights, which are found in Troop Exercise > Participation > click on the big Basic Knowledge of Battle button to the side. You get a rental card after the fourth and sixth fights. You don't even have to win them. Just complete them. I think the first is always an MS and the second is always a pilot.
Also, don't forget that each mode's Formation option has Attack and Defense squads, and you can set under what conditions your squad will swap and what their target priority is.
And I'm late to realize (because told by my friend), that the upcoming Blue Destiny Federation and Zeon Color is only R2, which its stats are kinda equivalent to my GM Aqua... Probably won't order the September edition.
but fingers still crossed
Battle Mission or Conquest? If BM, just check the situation.
I know with digital there are. I don't think you can with rentals, though. Which sucks. I would love to be able to fuse two rental versions together to upgrade them to a proper digital.
Yeah, man. They should do it. I wonder if region relates to the card roll. I mean, everytime I roll, whatever I get is just around the usual rental card like Zaku Cannon, Duvac etc.
Yeah, I know. I'm just taking the piss.
I really want to be able to buy cards. I saw a dude with Unicorn, Aile Strike and Sinanju R6's with their appropriate pilots. It was bullshit.
Oh, I know. I've played MTG in the past. Spent way too much on that.
I really want to play the game, i just want to be able to display my gunpla with the appropriate pilot and MS card a tad more.
>mfw I own a gunpla of almost every rental card I currently have
God damn, it'd be nice to have that set up so people can be like "Oh what's this gundam?" and find out by checking the card displayed with it.
Dammit, I forgot to actually post mf
>$70-$100 for those R6s
I know those are rare card, but I feel like those aren't really rare since some players I met have those R6.
Feels better than just some GP Bases for each gunplas.
Shit happened, went to a bookstore without expecting anything. Turns out the July issue of Gundam Ace had Pale Rider card as a bonus. o yeah...
